Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru
The Ngorongoro Crater is famous the world over. It is an awe-inspiring experience to view the crater for the first time – peering over the crater rim and down the 2000ft high walls, knowing that the lush, green, Eden-like world below is home to a staggering concentration of amazing wildlife, all thriving in the perfect conditions of the crater, a world unto itself. Lake Manyara, meanwhile, though not quite as famous, is a stunning part of Tanzania, as well as being one of the only places where you might see a tree-climbing lion!
An exciting afternoon game drive safari at Lake Nakuru National Park – This park is most famous for the thousands of fabulous flamingo which gather at the shores of the lake. This is the only place in the world where you can photograph a rare black rhino against the back drop of a shimmering sea of pink flamingo!
Staying at Lion Hill Lodge – This lodge is ideally situated for some of the best views in Kenya. All rooms overlook the lake, as does the Rift Valley Bar, where you can enjoy a cold drink on a hot afternoon! The Flamingo Restaurant, meanwhile, offers views over the deep and dramatic Rift Valley.
Take a thrilling safari game drive in the Masai Mara – this park is known as being one of the best places in Kenya to spot the ‘Big Five’ – cape buffo, elephant, black rhino, leopard and lion. The topography of this national park is beautiful, dramatic and diverse, and you should see some spectacular sunrises and sunsets during your time here.
Staying at the Mara Serena Safari Lodge – Perched on the saddle of a hill, spectacular views of the expansive Mara plains can be enjoyed from this lodge, and indeed from your own room! There is also a lovely outdoor swimming pool, spa treatment rooms and a restaurant overlooking a floodlit watering hole!
