It really isn’t easy to pick the most special places in a country so special as Tanzania, but we think we’ve come pretty close in this tour. Not only will you experience some of the best game viewing in Africa at the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, but you will also have authentic cultural encounters with the Hadzabe Bushmen of Lake Eyasi and the fishermen of Lake Victoria, take in the stunning landscapes of Tarangire and Manyara, and even take an exhilarating river hike to cascading waterfalls and natural swimming pools.
Arrival in Arusha. You will be picked up by our driver from the airport, and transferred to the Arusha countryside, where you will overnight in comfort in preparation for your safari.

An exciting afternoon game drive safari at Lake Manyara National Park – This park is home to many of Africa’s greatest animals, including Masai giraffe, elephant, crocodile, hippo and plains zebra. It is also home to over 400 species of bird, including the fish eagle, flamingo and tawny eagle.
Staying at Kirurumu Tented Lodge– This is fabulous lodging in luxury tents. The surroundings are equally fabulous, with the Ngorongoro Highlands rising behind the camp, and the rift valley floor at the front.
Drive via the Engaruka Ruins towards Lake Natron – Pass through authentic Tanzanian landscape of Masai villages and bee boxes, spotting birds and animals along the way. Take an afternoon guided walk around Lake Natron, spotting flamingos and other water birds. Hike along the Ngare Sero River and, weather permitting, swim in the flowing waterfalls and pools of the river source.
Staying at Lake Natron Tented Camp – A luxury tented camp featuring only nine tents, where you are certain to get a personal and attentive service from the staff. There is a beautiful and shady garden, as well as a natural swimming pool – both great places to cool off after an active day.
Take a thrilling safari game drive towards the Serengeti – This world-famous national park is home to the African “Big Five” along with giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, monkeys, baboons, hippo and antelope. For those who visit at the right time of year, there is also the chance to see the Great Migration in full swing.
Staying at Mapito Tented Camp – A luxury tented camp tucked away in a clearing. Spend the evening sitting around the blazing campfire and listen to the sounds of the African night fill your ears.
Full day to explore the Serengeti, perhaps spotting animals you may not have spotted on your first game drives.

Head south towards Lake Victoria. Here along the shore you will find villages and farms carrying on just as they have done for many years – the women toiling in the fields and the men fishing on the lake using traditional methods.
Staying at Speke Bay Lodge – A delightful and relaxed lodge on the tranquil, lapping shores of the lake. Each self-contained bungalow at this lodge has a private patio where you can take breakfast in the morning, before spending the afternoon exploring and spotting birds.
Day of fishing with the local fisherman of Lake Victoria. Listen to the traditional songs of the fishermen as they paddle their canoes out into the waters. Watch the sails of a distant dhow far out on the lake, returning from a day of fishing.

Return to the Serengeti, this time in the south at Lake Ndutu. Day of game driving around the lake and further exploration of the Serengeti ecosystem.
Staying at Ndutu Safari Lodge – A lovely lodge set in woodlands beside a small lake. Each stone cottage room has a private veranda overlooking Lake Ndutu.
Take a thrilling full day game drive on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater – A really special place where you can spot the famous African ‘Big Five’, which consists of cape buffo, elephant, black rhino, leopard and lion. A game drive on the crater floor, with its astounding concentration of wild animals, is simply unbeatable!
Staying at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge – The view of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater is simply unbelievable from this lodge. Feel free to take a dip in the swimming pool, which is located on the rim of the crater.
Proceed to Lake Eyasi – A day of fascinating cultural encounters with the wonderful Hadzabe Bushmen. You will go on a traditional hunting track with these indigenous people, who are amongst the last on earth to live truly harmoniously with their natural surroundings.
Staying at the Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp – a lovely tented lodge nestling in acacia and llala palms. The panoramic views of the sweeping Great Rift Valley from this lodge are simply wonderful.
Head for Tarangire – A day of game drives and exploration in this fabulous national park, where baobab trees dwarf the animals, even elephant and giraffe, which wander and graze beneath them!
Staying at the Tarangire Safari Lodge – This is a welcoming and luxurious tented lodge where the food is always fresh and the views are always breathtaking. The lounge bar, furnished with Zanzibari furniture and oversized cushions, is a great place to relax with a wine, beer or hot cup of tea.
