This Namib Desert Fly-in Safari is a flexible and convenient excursion into the world's oldest desert, over 43 million years, and is one of the country's most sparsely inhabited regions. The desert plains and shimmering mountains will have you snapping away in the effort to capture this pristine coastal desert. One thing is for certain, you will always remember the Namib Desert as a place of singular beauty and serenity.
The family-friendly Kulala Desert Lodge will be your home for the next three days, providing beautifully appointed chalets with flat rooftops for wildlife spotting and stargazing. Kulala has its own private entrance into the Namib - Naukluft National Park which is a huge advantage. Your time at Kulala is spent enjoying scenic nature drives, walking trails, horse riding, sundowners, and incredible views of the desert from a hot air balloon (optional).
This three-day tour is ideal for solo explorers, couples, and families looking for a unique outdoor adventure.
Accommodation: Kulala Desert Lodge
Departing from either Windhoek, fly over sheer mountains, gravel plains with cosmic markings, blonde grass-covered fields, and the Naukluft mountain range. A short road transfer takes you to your desert lodge where lunch and a cool siesta await.
Scenic drives and walks through this unspeakably large nature reserve take you to a glorious spot for a sundowner. Returning to the lodge, enjoy a delicious dinner before setting down on an outdoor chair or on the roof of your chalet, to view the stars because they shine brighter and appear to be four times as many as you’ve ever seen before.
Optional activities during your stay include a day-trip to Sossusvlei, where you will spend most of the day exploring the Dead Pan, Sossusvlei and climbing to the top of the tallest sand dunes – the view at sunrise is worth the effort. Scenic drives, nature walks, hot-air ballooning, or a peaceful afternoon snoozing by the pool are some of the more common activities on offer. Sleep out under the starry skies of the Namib and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of Africa on the roof or your unit.
Accommodation: Own arrangements
Enjoy breakfast before taking a walk or nature drive on Kulala Wilderness Reserve in search of smaller desert denizens like the bat-eared fox. After you return back to the lodge, you will gather your belongings and transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Windhoek or Swakopmund.
Includes: Accommodation, all meals, twice daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, laundry, Namibian VAT & Tourism Levy and local drinks but excludes premium imported brands and champagne.
