Accommodation: Rhino Post Safari Lodge
Your exhilarating safari adventure begins with a brief flight from the OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg (or the Cape Town International Airport) to the Skukuza Airport. This newly refurbished airport is conveniently set within the confines of the world-renowned Kruger National Park, one of the largest ‘Big Five’ game reserves in Africa. You will then be transported in an open-air 4x4 safari vehicle to the southern end of a spectacular 12,000 hectare private wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park. This concession lies adjacent to the Mala Mala Game Reserve, allowing an abundance of game to wander freely across the unfenced border between these two vast expanses of wilderness.
Accommodation: Thonga Beach Lodge
After a leisurely breakfast an open 4x4 vehicle will transport you back to Skukuza Airport where you will board a scenic flight over Swaziland to the Mazengwenya Airstrip. A staff member from the Thonga Beach Lodge will be waiting to welcome you and to transport you to the lodge. Upon arrival you will be given a tour of your room and the communal areas and, once you have settled in, you can participate in the lodge’s various activities before enjoying a wonderful meal under a blanket of stars. The following two days can be spent exploring the beautiful Mabibi Bay and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, an internationally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing pristine natural landscapes, unique ecology and diverse wildlife, including the area’s famous loggerhead and leatherback turtles. If your visit coincides with the turtle breeding season from November to February, you can enjoy a walk or a drive along the beach in search of turtles laying their eggs or their babies hatching and making their way down to the sea.
Accommodation: Own arrangements
After a tasty breakfast at the Thonga Beach Lodge, guests will be transported to the bustling port town of Richards Bay. En route you will pass through a number of traditional rural villages, parts of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and the small riverside town of Hluhluwe. At the Richards Bay Airport you will catch your scheduled flight back to the OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg where your journey comes to an end.
