"Ambiance: a beautifully renovated Cape Dutch homestead nestled in antique trees and elegant gardens. Dark woods and plush furniture throughout. Food: I have eaten here twice in the last week; firstly for lunch on my own, and secondly for breakfast with friends. The food is always good and there is an excellent selection. The chefs will also happily fit in dietary requirements where they can. I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna salad as well as a vegetarian breakfast with gluten free toast. The flat jacks looked delicious too. Drinks: an excellent selection of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices as well as smoothies and your normal teas and coffees. Excellent wines by the glass too. Service: attentive and knowledgeable. In general: my favourite spot in Constantia. Take the time to walk around the gardens too."

"An amazing reception with even better service. decoration in the rooms are very tasteful with more than what you need. Breakfast was absolutely great with the most pleasant full waiters. I can strongly recommend a wonderful stay in the most beautiful Cape Town!"

"Ideal Hotel with opulence and excellent service. Close to 1 of my favorite wine farms - Steenberg. This hotel is the definition of world class. The location is second to none, just far enough from the city to have some quiet, but within easy reach, and absolutely stunning views."

"This hotel was incredible. The breakfast particularly was a favourite. You can have anything on the menu in their bistro in the front. During winter there was a fire crackling and the atmosphere was wonderful. The rooms themselves were gorgeous and incredibly comfortable. The hotel has so much to offer that you don't need to leave the premises for days. Will definitely be staying here again."

"Every time we visit my sister-in-law in Constantia we always stay at the Alphen. It has changed over the years and has been refurbished into a much hipper rendition of its former self. But the colonial atmosphere and Cape Dutch atmosphere still remain. The rooms are amazing and huge, with his and her bathrooms, marble floors, plenty of towels, and views of the beautiful gardens. The Alphen is a lovely hideaway and we always leave feeling relaxed while at the same time soaking up some history. Our favorite part of the Alphen is the huge patio outside the bar, where you can sit under an umbrella for breakfast or a sundowner and soak up the sounds and colors of Africa."

"Spent a lovely warm Sunday afternoon under the trees - good wine & good food. I had some overseas guests from New Zealand & the UK and there comment was 'South African food is the best'. Good service with many smiling staff and a light lunch which was delicious. Thoroughly recommended."
