Amakhala Woodbury is a family-friendly lodge situated in the 'Big Five' Amkhala Game Reserve in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. Amakhala Game Reserve was voted by East Cape Tourism as the best Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.
Set against a cliff above the Bushmans River valley, the award-winning Woodbury Lodge offers an intimate and tranquil retreat for couples, families, and friends traveling together.
Amakhala Woodbury Lodge boasts six well-appointed stone and thatch lodges. Each Suite features either a king-size or twin beds on request, mosquito netting, en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, shower and underfloor heating, hairdryer, air conditioning (hot and cold), lounge area, in-room safe, minibar, tea & coffee making facilities, and a private deck with magnificent views across the plains. All the rooms all connected by stone walkways.
Two of the suites are suited to families and can sleep up to four guests. These suites feature a king-size bed and two single beds and separated by a wall partition to provide privacy.
The lodge facilities include a dining area, complimentary Wi-Fi, TV facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool with deck and sun loungers.
Amakhala Game Reserve teems with wildlife which includes lion, herds of elephant, buffalo and giraffe; cheetah and rhino to name only a few. Amakhala Game Reserve is also home to substantial herds of plains game species including zebra, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, oryx and eland to name but a few. Bird watching in the reserve is exceptional with over 250 species recorded.
Activities offered at the lodge or nearby include open-vehicle game drives, bush walks, boat cruises, birding safaris, horse trails, fishing, and stargazing.
