DumaTau which means 'roar of the lion' is an intimate eco-friendly camp that runs completely on solar energy and is involved in elephant conservation projects.
DumaTau boasts eight twin bedded Tents and two Family Tents that are elevated off the ground and feature ceiling to floor netted windows on the front end, opening the tents up to the verandah that overlooks the surroundings of bushveld and the lagoon. The tents are a combination of canvas and thatch and the twin beds can be moved together to make a double bed. Other features include mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower, writing desk, overhead fan, pedestal fan, dressing area, tea and coffee making facilities, and a verandah with comfortable chairs.
The Family Tents can accommodate up to four people in two bedrooms with individual en-suite bathrooms.
The camp facilities include a large dining and lounge area, swimming pool, and a star deck complete with a fire-pit and unrivaled lagoon views.
The lodge activities include morning and afternoon game drives conducted in open 4x4 safari vehicles and led by professional guides, night game drives which afford the opportunity of seeing rare nocturnal species, guided nature walks which provide up-close encounters with the smaller wondrous creatures of the bush, visits to a hide that offers fantastic bird watching, a sleep-out at the camp's star bed, seasonal motorboat and river barge excursions (water level permitting), and catch-and-release fishing.
With the camp located close to the source of the Savute Channel and within a landscape consisting of swamps, floodplains and mopane woodlands; the Linyanti concession teems with wildlife and is well-known for its large elephant herds that gather around the lagoons and waterways during the dry winter months. This region also offers good sightings of leopard, lion, cheetah, hyena, wild dog, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and various antelope species.
DumaTau Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples and families looking for an intimate safari experience.
Flights, transfers, premium imported beverages and champagne, additional excursions, gratuities, and items of a personal nature.
Children over the age of 12 years are welcome at the camp and will be required to share a family room with their parents.
Children under the age of 17 years are required to share accommodation with at least one adult at all times as the camp is unfenced.
Families with children 12 years and younger are required to book and pay for private activities unless the camp is booked for exclusive use or they
