Elephant’s Eye, Hwange – a real African wildlife haven – is located on a private concession and shares a fenceless border with the world-renowned Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Surrounded by the beating heart of the wilderness’ incredible biodiversity of fauna and flora, this eco-camp with its eight tented en-suite chalets offers an authentic safari experience.
The ambling visits from Africa’s gentle giants, and the vast herds of buffalo, zebra and giraffe, are one of the biggest drawing cards of Elephant’s Eye, Hwange. And of course, the luxurious and romantic atmosphere of the camp, fitted with elegant natural touches from the high-beamed thatched roof ceilings to the private viewing decks calling for a sundowner in hand while gazing over the bushveld as wildlife quench their thirst at the waterhole.
Each of the tents at Elephant's Eye, Hwange exudes intimacy and it is privately tucked away between trees and raised on stilts, giving visitors an opportunity to soak in the solitude and feel at one with nature. The tents feature either double or twin beds, each with an en-suite bathroom where a bath tub and outdoor shower boast uninterrupted views of the surrounds. Equipped with all the modern creature comforts and amenities, the spacious safari home is elegantly decorated while the indoor fireplace and balcony set the scene for relaxation. For a different experience that has ‘romantic’ written all over it, The Eye – a sleep out deck – can be booked out for an unforgettable night under the glistening African sky.
The main area of Elephant’s Eye, Hwange overlooks the waterhole and it is best to have your camera on standby. From the outdoor boma and firepit, the lounge, bar and dining room you can enjoy a cocktail or indulge the lip-smacking meals while elephants and other wildlife – within arm’s reach – fill the air with excitement as they go about their day, splashing around the water. The get-together areas are Wi-Fi enabled and there is also an eco-friendly swimming pool, a gift shop where you can browse the talents of local artists and a wellness spa for some well-deserved pampering in the middle of the bush.
There are two game drives on offer per day on the lodge’s private concession or you can spend your time exploring Hwange National Park with an experienced guide. Discover the diversity of the wildlife and bird species up, close and personal and see for yourself and why Zimbabwe’s largest park is such a highly sought-after experience.
