Set in a 178 acre of reforested land that borders with Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, and only three-and-a-half hours from the capital city of Kigali lies Singita Kwitonda. Positioned to conserve the pristine wilderness that is home to one-third of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population, Singita Kwintonda aims to assist the government with their long-term goal of increasing the gorilla habitat.
Singita Kwitonda Lodge is ideally located to combine gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park and a safari experience in Tanzania. Given the name Kwitonda, the lodge pays tribute to one of Rwanda's greatest silverback gorillas who was known for his gentle and humble nature.
The eco-friendly lodge is built from sustainable materials and unique dry stone walling made by the local community, setting a new design standard for many to follow.
The lodge features seven one-bedroom Suites, one two-bedroom Suite and a four-bedroom Villa that are well-appointed with all the necessary comforts and offer magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes.
Besides gorilla trekking, there is so much to see and do in this region which includes the capital city of Kigali, the Afro-montane forests of Nyungwe National Park and Lake Kivu.
