Linyanti, Selinda & Kwando
Where to go
Bordering the Caprivi strip are three large concessions - Kwando in the north, Linyanti in the east, and Selinda in the middle, these concessions are fast becoming part Southern Africa's main game viewing destinations and private wildlife sanctuaries.
The frequently visited Selinda Spillway, which links the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando wetlands and rivers, curve's through the area. Wildlife is enticed by the almost limitless floodplains and grasslands along the river, with large numbers of elephant and vast herds of buffalo gathering around the Zibadianja Lagoon in the dry winters.
Extending in the same direction as the Okavango, the Kwando River run's south from Angola across the Caprivi Strip and into Botswana. Similar to the Okavango, it starts spreading out over the Kalahari's sands, forming the Linyanti Swamps. This area becomes a Delta during waterlogged years, with lagoons linking, creating a haven for wildlife.
The Kwando and the Linyanti rivers are permanent, which are valuable sources for the animals in Chobe and the Northern Botswana. Similar to the Chobe and Okavango, the Kwando & the Linyanti rivers have become a fundamental destination for migrations from the drier areas across northern Botswana.
