"We had the most amazing 2-night stay/safari experience at Villa Lobengula within the Shamwari Game Reserve. We shared this stunning piece of property with 4 other couples. (We were told that the villa will only be rented out if at least five of the six lodges are booked by a group at the same time). There are six individual lodges, situated around the pool and the main building, which houses the reception, kitchen, a sitting room, and an absolutely beautiful open area for dining and lounging. Our lodge (#1) was very generously sized, with a king size bed, bathroom with double sinks, shower, bathtub and toilet. We also had a private patio with lounge chairs and a small pool. All was very clean and well taken care of. We had our own chef, wait staff, manager (Steff), and ranger (Asher). All were extremely professional, warm, courteous, friendly, simply wonderful to be around. They went out of their way to accommodate us (My husband is gluten free and the chef prepared the most delicious gluten free bread and chocolate muffins for him!) Just to give one example. Our ranger, Asher, was great. In addition to an evening and a morning drive into the bush, he also took us on a full day outing, and we saw an astounding number of wildlife (4 out of the big 5 and numerous others!) Because of his marvelous tracking capabilities, we were able to observe two cheetahs resting under a bush right after their kill. And we encountered several herds of elephants, munching on tree limbs. One of the highlights was to see a pride of 10 lions the morning of our departure day. We can definitely recommend Villa Lobengula and Shamwari and would love to come back."
