"What a wonderful place! We stayed for 3 nights, and did 5 game drives. Our ranger Benson was brilliant, we saw absolutely everything from a close range. The wild dogs are really something different to see. The staff are very friendly especially the chefs, as they kindly make a plan to fix you whatever you need. The rooms are nice, clean but a little small. There is a really nice bathroom and the tea facilities are a bonus. The WiFi doesn't reach the rooms but that didn't bother our family."

"My wife and I enjoyed a 3 night stay at the River Lodge and were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality shown by the staff, the accommodation and the food. From our arrival until our departure, all our needs were attended to. Violet celebrated her birthday whilst we were there and the whole staff did a special song and dance for her at the evening dinner held in the Boma (as well as providing her with a specially baked cake). What an awesome surprise. The game drives were special and our ranger, Takura, found us everything we needed/wanted to see. From the Big 5 to all the little creatures he made sure we saw them all. All in all a wonderful time had and the Reserve and Lodge come highly recommended."

"A group of us spent 3 nights at Madikwe River Lodge. It was wonderful. We had the best Ranger we have ever had, Charles (Takura). What an asset to a super lodge! He was so knowledgeable and so helpful with a great sense of humour!. He did his best to find us everything we wanted to see including cheetah, wild dogs, leopard etc, different birds and all sorts of plants, grasses and other flora. Our chalets were clean and very comfortable and all round it was a fantastic experience. Would recommend it. The food was good and the staff were always helpful. Not as over the top as some of the other lodges but I preferred this approach. I would definitely want to go back there."

"We had an amazing experience of the two nights we spent at Madikwe game reserve. Excellent hospitality, service and food. Strongly recommend Benson our ranger for all the game drives because he is very jovial and enthusiastic and we spotted all the big 5. Must visit to enjoy the wild and stay where you can spot animals playing near the river from your balcony. Enjoy Africa."

- Sandy

"I stayed overnight here in mid February. I did two game drives which were superb. Ernst the ranger managed a fantastic leopard sighting and great lion. The lodge is being renovated currently so 5 rooms are occupied max. A great , reasonable price option for this part of the reserve."

- Ben

"Located right on a river, the wildlife you can spot from your room. The guides that took us out on the game drives were so knowledgeable and the staff at the lodge couldn't help enough. The lodge has an African feel that fits well with the surroundings. It is a malaria free area too which was a bonus."

- Kate

"The lodge was a great experience from the first warm greeting we received from Patrick and the ladies - delicious homemade lemonade and a warm towel greeted us followed by a delicious lunch on the deck overlooking the river. A five-star game viewing experience was delivered by the talented and affable Benson who's relaxed style made it an incredible experience. We saw not only the big five but brown hyena, duiker etc. Nick keeps the whole team together and is an excellent host. The team included a number of young trainees who didn't disappoint - well done to the team at Madikwe your efforts in training the next generation can only be applauded. The team of chefs catered to our every need - what a delicious spread - thank you! Our room # 10 overlooked the river and was extremely comfortable. This is one not to be missed - the personalised attention and value for money is exceptional - we'll be back!"

"We spent three days at this lodge and only have good things to remember. The room was nice with a deck over the river where the hornbills visited us. We were lucky that there were only a few people in the lodge, being their quiet season. This is a full board lodge and there are no shops nearby, the lodge is quite a long way from the park gate. The game drives were the best part of this trip and our knowledgeable ranger, Benson, ensured that we saw what we wished to see whenever possible. The best thing about the Madikwe Reserve is that there is no self drive option. As a result, there is no traffic and one can experience the true tranquility of the bush on both dawn and dusk game drives. Also, the animals don't scatter when the game vehicles arrive as the park's protocol ensures that sightings are not crowded with vehicles. We were lucky enough to see the endangered African Wild dog with puppies and a giant eagle owl over and above the big 5. The staff at the lodge were friendly. The wifi didn't work all the time but who needs Internet in the bush! Cell signal at the lodge is mostly provided by Mascom or Orange as the lodge is very close to the Botwana border, not sure if international rates apply. Would visit again and this time perhaps spend more time exploring the lodge grounds as there are bushbuck on the premises and the river provides some bird viewing."

"We loved the game drives food was great and the staff friendly. We swam in the rock pool by day and did drives in the morning and at night. The wildlife that came around our houses was amazing. We will be back."

- Daniel

"What an excellent place to stay! The rooms were large and had everything you needed, including your own patio with a view over the river. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was superb and there was lots of it! As for the game drives, well, Benson bent over backwards to find what you wanted and he was so patient. I can't wait to go back."
