A hidden gem in the 75,000 hectare Madikwe Reserve, Motswiri offers some of the best views in South Africa. Surrounded by a grove of leadwood trees, the exclusive bush villas of this lodge are imbued with a sense of tranquil privacy and intimate relaxation. Nestled in this quiet spot between the trees, you will see elephants and other game able down to the private waterhole and enjoy the sights and sounds of the reserve’s multitude of bird and animal life.
Whether you need private bookings and safari itineraries tailored to your requests, or just to indulge in five-star treatment in the African bush for a while, Motswiri’s offering is out of this world.
Prizing the exclusivity and privacy of their guests, Motswiri only accommodates up to 10 guests at a time. Five spacious bush villas are set under the canopy of leadwood trees, around a sparkling swimming pool.
Accommodation is designed to maximize the stunning views, blending inside and outside spaces with retractable doors and windows. Guests will feel at home with villas each luxuriously appointed with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around viewing decks.
Safari activities include morning and evening game drives, led by professional rangers, on which guests can spot some of the fascinating wildlife that Madikwe has to offer. Walks are also a great way to get up close and personal with the bush and rangers are on-hand to accompany you on exciting trails around the reserve.
When not on safari, guests can relax at the swimming pool or watch game visiting the waterhole from the spacious decks of the main lodge, where dining, lounge and bar facilities are available. Dinner is served in the open air boma on warm nights, or around one of the snug fireplaces in winter. Motswiri also offers the exclusive use of the whole lodge, making it perfect for large groups, families or celebrations.
Because of its positioning in between two distinct ecological zones, on the border of Botswana and the Kalahari, Madikwe is a mixed landscape of savannah, bush and Kalahari sandveld. The striking landscape is as diverse in vegetation as it is in animal population and, thanks to the famed Operation Phoenix, it hosts an exceptional range of African wildlife.
All sorts of creatures inhabit the diverse areas of vegetation here, including the Big Five. Caracals, aardwolf and spotted hyenas are just some of the mesmerizing animals to be spotted on open vehicle safari drives, roaming in their natural habitat.

"My husband and I recently spent one night at Motswiri as part of our extended honeymoon celebration. From the very second we arrived, we were greeted by Geraldine, the manager, with the most welcome smile and enthusiasm. Upon arrival in our room, a bottle of chilled sparkling wine, champagne glasses and a note congratulated us on our marriage. Another surprise were the elephants, buffaloes and wildebeest coming to drink at the waterhole opposite our bedroom immediately after we checked in. Werner, the game ranger, was excellent - a real friendly, enthusiastic ranger who will spare no expense to ensure we get to see the most animals we could. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at Motswiri - thank you for making our very first night in Madikwe so memorable."

"It is hard to describe in words such a positive experience. Since the arrival with the whole team waiting for you with smiles and a refreshing welcome drink upon the check out when they get your car washed. All the little surprises every time you come back to your room. By the way it's not right to call it a room. It's an amazing place. The food was outstanding. Congrats to the chef. The game drives were fantastic we could see that our game ranger really loves his job and he was not afraid to go off road to look for the lions. Our first thoughts were: is he crazy? No, he's know what's he doing and that's make all the difference. Too bad we could stay only for two nights, that's our only regret. We highly recommend Motswiri and will definitely be returning."

"The wonderful welcome with cold towels and drinks and being shown to our palatial rooms far exceeded our expectations. The setting overlooking the waterhole, the hanging lanterns, the food experience with exceptional service would have been enough to provide a feeling of well being peace and tranquility. However, then came the game drives with Coenie the game driver who was friendly, informative and tenacious who ensured that we saw and experienced a full and varied drive with a delicious cocktail at sunset. The meal that was arranged on our last evening in the Boma by fire light was an unexpected enjoyable delightful bonus and the whole trip is etched in our memory. Thank you"

"We spent 3 nights at Motswiri in the self catering unit. The unit sleeps 6 in luxury. We had our own plunge pool and vehicle, for the 2 game drives a day. Our game drives with Zeda were great and we managed to see all the big 5 and some of the little 5 too. This was my second visit to the lodge and I will definitely be back."
