"The Portswood is a little gem among some big hotels which serves as a change of pace when the big buildings are not what you are looking for. The staff is hard working and friendly. The rooms are clean and adequate. The price is right and the Portswood is located right behind the trendy waterfront. Breakfast is included as well."

"We stayed at The Portswood for a 5 day trip to Cape Town. The location is excellent for access to the Waterfront - literally 2 minutes walk. We found the staff very courteous, friendly and helpful and quickly got used to the complimentary valet car parking! Room was spotlessly clean and serviced daily along with a nightly housekeeping visit. Breakfast was delicious - plenty of choice. We will certainly stay here again on future visits to Capetown."

"The perfect location of this hotel and the polite and helpful staff made our 3 day stay wonderful. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the V&A Waterfront. Our room was excellent and would recommend highly."

"This hotel is right across from the V&A waterfront so it made for an excellent stay in Cape Town for a few days when traveling solo. The staff were quite helpful, and the breakfast was decent. Overall a good hotel and would recommend it for people who need somewhere close to town and easy access to all the sites of Cape Town."

"Lovely hotel ideally placed for the V&A waterfront. Rooms were lovely, nice and clean and a good size. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was extensive, and the dinners were tasty. Free WiFi was fast and easy to connect to."

"Our experience at this hotel was excellent. The check in was quick and efficient. Our room had a view of table mountain and was very clean and spacious. All the food that we ate could not be faulted the breakfast was buffet style with a good selection to suit everybody. We used the restaurant one evening and the quality and value for money was amazing. We would recommend the Cape Malay curries. The location of the hotel is perfect just on the edge of the V&A and only minutes from the Hop On Hop Off bus stop. The best thing about this hotel are the staff they are all friendly and very good at their job and seem to enjoy working there."

"We were welcomed by wonderful staff with an easy check in. Our luggage immediately taken to our room. Everyone was friendly and courteous. The room had a coffee/tea station, in room safe, and chocolates delivered every night. Our room had a good view of the courtyard and the pool. The pool was a bit too chilly for September, but still relaxing. Our stay included breakfast which had a large selection of fruits, yogurts, danishes, eggs and bacon/sausages, pancakes, etc. All the food was good and plenty. We did not eat dinner at the hotel since the V&A waterfront had so many selections. It was really difficult to decide. The hotel is a close walk to the waterfront, just down a staircase and across the street. Lots of entertainment to watch and enjoyable area to stroll around."

"The Hotel makes a good location for a start into South Africa. Direct at the Waterfront it is perfectly what you can expect. No loud traffic, very (very) nice and helpful staff and a very good breakfast. Will come again!!"

"We stayed here with a large group of family and friends from all around the globe, and the hotel staff were wonderful! The location is perfect and just a 3 minute walk to the Waterfront. The morning breakfast spread was great with a good variety and lots of egg options. They will make your bacon crispy if you ask! :) Would stay here again."

"Stayed at this property for 3 nights and I must say, this is definitely value for money. Rooms are more than comfortable, and the location is superb. You can literally throw a stone to the V&A waterfront. Everywhere I walked, there were security guards and that was important. Breakfast was ample. If a good sleep is all you require after a day out, with proximity to the V&A. You could consider this property. As for me, I would definitely stay here again if I were to visit Cape Town again."
