Rekero Camp is situated in Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve which is renowned for the Great Migration that occurs annually. What makes Rekero special is that it's the nearest camp to the Talek and Mara Rivers where all the action unfolds, with the dining area of the camp only a mere 150 meters from the Talek River.
Generally, during the months of July to November, the large wildebeest herds arrive from the Serengeti and gather on the banks of the river before plunging into the rivers, attempting to cross safely as crocodiles and other land predators await their opportunity to strike.
Traditional in design, this authentic African tented camp is equipped with the comforts needed to ensure an unforgettable safari experience. To minimize their impact on the environment, the camp runs completely on solar and generator power.
The camp boasts nine well-appointed canvas Tents that feature a double or twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with a traditional hot-water bucket shower and flushing toilet, writing desk, tea and coffee making facilities; and an enclosed verandah area complete with comfortable deck chairs, a day bed, and views of the Talek River's edge.
The camp also has two Family Tents that each have a double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, writing desks, tea and coffee making facilities; and an enclosed verandah area complete with comfortable deck chairs, a day bed, and views of the Talek River and the surrounding riverine forest.
The Messi tent includes a lounge area, dining area, and bar.
Activities offered at the camp include morning and afternoon game drives in closed safari vehicles with a rooftop hatch and led by professional Maasai guides, horse riding, hot air balloon safaris, local village visits, and bush picnics.
The area around Rekero Camp teems with wildlife throughout the year, so guests traveling outside of the migration season can still expect to see a high density of wildlife including the famous Big Five. The area around the camp is frequently visited by large herds of elephant and buffalo as well as a resident lion pride.

"Wildlife, water and a wonderful team. Rekero Camp was out first encounter with the Masai Mara. We could not have dreamed up a better or more serene location. It is not every day that you manage to watch wildlife all day and sleep to the sound of water (never mind a resident herd of hippos just going about their daily lives) in Africa"
