Spanning over 34 850 hectares, the malaria-free reserve is a ruggedly beautiful wilderness comprising of mountainous bushveld, rocky ravines and beautiful gorges.
Welgevonden provides sanctuary to over 50 different mammal species, including the famous Big Five. There are also several rare and unusual species, such as brown hyena, pangolin, aardwolf and aardvark – all of which are best seen at night. The reserve is an incredible bird watching destination with over 300 bird species recorded.
Safari experiences in the Welgevonden Game Reserve are exclusive and intimate with only a limited number of guests having access to the reserve at any one time.
