The Details

This region of the park boasts frequent sightings of giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and crocodiles. In November, the resident elephants often meander through the lodge’s lobby, drawn by the allure of nearby wild mango trees. Whether staying overnight or stopping by for lunch en route to a bush camp, Mfuwe Lodge's inviting ambiance and breathtaking surroundings make it the perfect retreat.

Lounge on the open deck, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or indulge in a pampering session at the Bush Spa.

Accommodation

With 18 air-conditioned guest chalets and a spacious 2-bedroom Director’s House, Mfuwe Lodge provides a haven of comfort and luxury. The airy interiors seamlessly blend with the surrounding wilderness, creating an atmosphere of serenity and relaxation.

Each chalet offers a secluded covered veranda with views of wallowing hippos and other wildlife. The chalets are equipped with large, comfortable beds, mosquito nets, air conditioning, a relaxed sitting area, and en-suite bathrooms, featuring panoramic walk-in showers. These tranquil retreats provide the perfect sanctuary to unwind and soak in the African wilderness.

Activities

At Mfuwe Lodge, the game-viewing opportunities are unparalleled. Led by seasoned guides, game drives are conducted at dawn and late afternoon—when wildlife is most active. Following sundowners in the bush, spotlights illuminate the night, revealing the nocturnal creatures that thrive under the cover of darkness. This unique experience allows guests to observe a diverse array of wildlife, making the area around Mfuwe Lodge a premier safari destination.

Wellness

The Bush Spa offers a contemporary range of eastern and western treatments, each adapted to suit the surroundings and leave you feeling revitalized. The spa provides a unique blend of relaxation and wildlife observation from its private deck overlooking a vibrant lagoon. Immerse yourself in a herbal Jacuzzi or unwind with a Zambian reflexology foot massage while watching animals by the water. With its classic design and panoramic views, the spa engages all your senses and offers a tranquil retreat.

Exceptions

Mfuwe Lodge itself welcomes children of all ages, though the child rate band (2–11 years) implies a practical minimum age of 2. The Director's House is a 2-bedroom private villa with private guide & vehicle, private dining and pool (min 4 guests) — the family/exclusive-use option associated with the lodge. Per DNPW rules, children under 12 are not permitted on walking safaris in the park; families travelling with under-12s who wish to walk would need to reserve a private camp or hire a private guide & vehicle. A private vehicle is available at $600 per night, subject to availability. Note: at the sister Bushcamps (not Mfuwe Lodge itself), children are charged adult rate and a private camp or private guide & vehicle is required for the duration of stay when under-12s are travelling.
