Visiting Gondwana Game Reserve offers a unique and enriching experience for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and those seeking a serene escape. Here’s why you should consider visiting:
Big Five Safari Experience
Gondwana is home to the iconic Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo.
You can enjoy guided game drives and have the chance to see these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.
Activities Beyond Safari
Gondwana offers activities such as guided bush walks, bird watching, mountain biking, game drives and even a Junior Ranger Program for children, making it a versatile destination for all ages.
Exclusive Accommodation
Gondwana offers luxury accommodation options, including private villas and safari lodges.
Many of these accommodations offer breathtaking views and are designed to blend with the natural surroundings.
Fynbos Biome
The reserve is unique for its fynbos vegetation, which is part of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
This biome is rich in biodiversity and is one of the most unique ecosystems in the world, offering visitors a chance to see rare plant species.
Malaria-Free
Unlike many other safari destinations in Africa, Gondwana is located in a malaria-free zone, making it an ideal destination for families and those concerned about health risks.
Conservation Efforts
Gondwana is deeply involved in wildlife conservation and sustainable tourism.
Visiting the reserve supports these efforts, helping to protect endangered species and preserve the natural environment
Gondwana Game Reserve is a year round safari destination
Every Season brings new wonders - No matter the weather a Cape Safari will always be a magical experience!
Spring (September to November)
Weather: Springtime at Gondwana is mild, with the landscape coming alive as flowers bloom and the fynbos vegetation is at its most vibrant.
Wildlife: This is a good time for birdwatching as migratory birds return. Animals are also more active, and you might spot newborns as it’s the birthing season for many species.
Best For: Photography, nature walks, and experiencing the fynbos in full bloom.
Summer (December to February)
Weather: Summer is warm to hot, with temperatures ranging from mild to high. This is the peak tourist season in South Africa, with longer days and plenty of sunshine.
Wildlife: Animals tend to be less active during the heat of the day but can be seen near water sources. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are ideal.
Best For: Family holidays, birdwatching, and enjoying the reserve’s scenic beauty.
Autumn (March to May)
Weather: The weather is still warm but with cooler evenings. Autumn is generally less crowded than summer.
Wildlife: Game viewing is excellent as animals remain active, and the vegetation is still lush from the summer rains.
Best For: Tranquil game drives, birdwatching, and enjoying the natural scenery without the peak season crowds.
Winter (June to August)
Weather: Winter is cooler, with occasional rain. Temperatures can drop, especially in the mornings and evenings.
Wildlife: This is one of the best times for game viewing, as the vegetation thins out, making it easier to spot animals. Animals are more active during the day due to cooler temperatures.
Best For: Serious wildlife enthusiasts and those looking to enjoy the reserve in a quieter season.
Gondwana is a luxury Western Cape game reserve located in the picturesque Garden Route less than a four-hour drive from Cape Town International Airport.

Keith - best travel agent in the world
Keith is such an amazing communicator, very organised and helpful. This will be my first ever visit to the Kruger national park. As a fellow South African I never had the chance to visit the Kruger NP. Keith sent us voice recordings and I cried listening to his accent and hearing the beautiful nature in the background bringing back so many fond memories of our beautiful country. These messages were so special! I can’t wait to visit and am really looking forward to the most magical experience.
