The Okavango Delta is a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana. It's known for its sprawling grassy plains, which flood seasonally, becoming a lush animal habitat. The Moremi Game Reserve occupies the east and central areas of the region. Here, dugout canoes are used to navigate past hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. On dry land, wildlife includes African Bush Elephant, African Buffalo, Hippopotamus, Lechwe, Topi, Blue Wildebeest, Giraffe, Nile crocodile, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Brown Hyena, Spotted Hyena, Greater Kudu, Sable Antelope, Black Rhinoceros, White Rhinoceros, Plains Zebra, Warthog and Chacma Baboon. Notably, the endangered African Wild Dog still survives within the Okavango Delta and exhibits one of the richest pack densities in Africa.
In addition to the large animals, the Okavango Delta also supports over 500 species of birds and 85 recorded species of fish including Tigerfish,
Overlooking the legendary Chiefs Island and bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, Gunn's Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony to blend naturally with its unique surroundings, Gunn's Camp achieves a fine balance of comfort without isolating guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness. You will spend two days exploring this region and enjoy the various Delta activities. This includes motor boat cruises, mokoro (dug out canoe) excursions, and guided game walks.
Your journey continues to Pom Pom Island; a private concession situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta and on the headwaters of the Xudum river system. The area lies on the western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and offers superb Okavango scenery and a true Okavango wilderness experience. You will spend the next two days exploring the plains and narrow canals on game drives, night drives, mokoro trips, game walks and motorboat cruises.
This tour is ideal for solo explorers, families, couples, and friends traveling together.
