Itinerary

Day 1: Fly-in Nairobi to Masai Mara

Your Masai Mara safari begins with a warm welcome upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. A short transfer takes you to Wilson Airport, where you’ll board a scenic 45-minute flight to the Masai Mara. Enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Great Rift Valley along the way.

Upon landing, experience your first Masai Mara game drive as you’re transferred to your safari camp. Arrive in time for a delicious al fresco lunch overlooking the Mara River, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive in the Masai Mara Reserve at around 3:30 PM. Return at sunset for a relaxed evening with drinks by the campfire, followed by a hearty dinner under the stars. Drift off to sleep to the natural sounds of the Masai Mara at night.

Day 2: Witness the Big 5 in Masai Mara

Wake up early to seize the day in one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations—the Masai Mara National Reserve. After breakfast, set out on morning and afternoon game drives led by expert guides who navigate the expansive plains in search of unforgettable wildlife encounters.

The Masai Mara is world-renowned for the Great Migration, a natural spectacle from July to October, when over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles journey from Tanzania’s Serengeti into Kenya. However, Masai Mara safaris offer exceptional game viewing year-round, with an abundance of resident wildlife.

During your Big Five safari in Kenya, keep your camera ready for sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and Cape buffalo. You’re also likely to see cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, hippos, crocodiles, baboons, giraffes, zebras, and a wide variety of antelope species—making this a truly immersive African wildlife safari.

Enhance your day with optional experiences like bush breakfasts, sundowners, or a hot-air balloon ride over the Mara for panoramic views of the wildlife-studded landscape.

Day 3: Sunrise Game Drive & Flight from Masai Mara to Nairobi

Begin your final day on safari with a sunrise game drive in the Masai Mara, one last opportunity to witness Kenya’s incredible wildlife in the golden morning light. After returning to camp, enjoy a hearty breakfast and take in the views of the African plains.

Following a relaxing lunch, you’ll be transferred to the local Masai Mara airstrip for your scheduled afternoon flight to Nairobi, concluding your unforgettable Kenya safari itinerary.

Governors' Camp

Governors’ Camp is Africa’s first permanent tented camp, remaining in its original site since 1972. It occupies the best wildlife viewing location in the Reserve, nestled in the riverine forest along the winding banks of the Mara River. Its waters teem with birdlife, hippo, and crocodile. It's perfect for couples, families, and friends wanting to experience the best of what a safari in the Masai Mara has to offer.

The entire camp is under canvas with all the comforts of a luxury hotel. Some of the 30 tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest with uninterrupted views over the Mara River, while others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. The tents are big, bright, and allow in lots of natural light. All tents are classic safari style, each with en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda. There is a bar tent with a deck overlooking the Mara River and a dining tent with views over the plains.
