Community & Conservation

Making an impact for wildlife and communities.

Africa is a continent of unparalleled wildlife and vibrant communities. As stewards of the safari experience, we believe it is our responsibility to give back to what makes this continent so extraordinary — and to do it in a way that is built into how we operate, not bolted on as a footer.

Our partners

Two organisations, both exceptional.

With countless charities doing vital work across the continent, deciding which ones to support was no small task. After extensive research we partnered with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and the Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN). Both stand out for their innovative approaches to protecting endangered species, and for fostering sustainable solutions that benefit wildlife and the communities that coexist with them.

AWF

African Wildlife Foundation

AWF works on the ground across the continent to protect endangered species and the landscapes they depend on, alongside the communities that share those landscapes. Their long-running programmes link species protection with rural enterprise and education.

WCN

Wildlife Conservation Network

WCN funds and supports a curated portfolio of independent wildlife conservationists working in their own home regions — a model that channels donor funding directly to people running protected areas, anti-poaching units and species programmes on small operating budgets.

How we choose

The principles.

Four straightforward rules behind where the money goes, and why.

01

Vetted by the numbers, not just the marketing

Both partners hold strong ratings on Charity Navigator and similar oversight platforms — transparent governance, low overhead, audited financials. We picked organisations whose books we could read before we picked organisations whose stories we liked.

02

Wildlife first, because it lifts people too

Choosing wildlife conservation is not a vote against human-focused causes. Wildlife tourism funds jobs, education and rural infrastructure across Africa; protect the ecosystems and you protect the livelihoods that depend on them. Animals also have no voice of their own in the trade-offs human activity creates — which makes their corner the one we have chosen to back.

03

Tied to how we operate, not bolted on

Talk is cheap. We have built giving into the company's rhythm: when guests share their photographs for our channels, when they refer family or friends, when we hit certain commercial milestones, donations are triggered to AWF and WCN. As we grow, the contribution grows with us.

04

Aligned with the operators we book

Where there is a meaningful choice between similar lodges, the one with a stronger community and conservation programme tends to be the one we recommend first. Many of the operators in our portfolio fund anti-poaching, wildlife monitoring and community schools directly from their nightly rate.

A legacy of care

Bigger than ourselves.

Supporting AWF and WCN allows us to be part of something larger than the company. These organisations do not just protect animals; they safeguard the ecosystems and communities that depend on them. By partnering with them we are investing in a future where Africa's beauty and biodiversity endure for generations to come.

We invite you to join us. Whether through your safari, or by supporting these organisations directly, every action counts. Together we can make a difference — for the animals, for the people, and for the soul of Africa.

"The booking experience was flawless. I was initially apprehensive about even trying to book a safari, because August is the high season and we were less than a month away, but Izanne quickly curated the perfect trip that met the budget I had set. Izanne also demonstrated exceptional flexibility; when I requested a change to the itinerary, they quickly found…"
