Experience the best of South Africa with this perfect combination of a Big 5 safari in the Kruger National Park and the vibrant "Mother City" of Cape Town. Spend 3 nights on safari in the world-renowned Kruger National Park, home to a larger diversity of wildlife than anywhere else in Africa followed by 3 nights in Cape Town, often voted the most beautiful city in the world. This 7-day tour is the ideal option for explorers looking to experience the best of what South Africa has to offer.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kruger Big 5 Safari

Today you depart from Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport to Hoedspruit Airport. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Imbali Safari Lodge in Kruger National Park for check-in.

Guests will experience absolute privacy within their luxury elevated tented suites, set on the banks of the N’waswitsontso River or the savannah grasslands. Each suite has picture windows and spacious timber decks from which visitors can enjoy the riverine forest positioning. Private plunge pools are suspended upon the extended teak decks, positioned to enjoy the breathtaking views.

In the late afternoon, you will head out with your guide and tracker for an afternoon game drive through the reserve in search of wildlife including the Big 5. Savour the rich smells of the bush, hear the shrill calls of the Magpie Shrike and see the wind blowing through the feather grass dotting the savannah plains. Arrive back at the lodge in time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Day 2-3: Big Five Paradise at Imbali

Activities at Imbali Safari Lodge include traditional morning & afternoon safaris and bush picnics. An early morning wake-up call starts the day, followed by a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee before setting off on a morning game drive, the softer light makes for incredible photographs.

Guests will enjoy some of Kruger’s most spectacular landscapes and a variety of wildlife, birdlife, and plant life within the Mluwati Concession, ensuring that each safari experience is unique.

Return to the lodge for breakfast, after which you will have time to relax by the pool, or enjoy views of the Nwaswitsontso River from your private deck. Spa treatments are available on request, these may be taken at the poolside area or on a secluded deck of your suite.

Later in the afternoon, you will head out on your afternoon game drive, which may continue beyond dusk, and return to the lodge to enjoy dinner and some reminiscing about the day’s sightings.

Day 4-6: Cape Town Leisure

After one final game drive and a warm heartening breakfast, you bid farewell to the African bush as you transfer back to the airport in time to catch your flight to Cape Town.

A friendly greeting and a private transfer from Cape Town International Airport to The Cape Milner Boutique Hotel start this leg of your tour. The Cape Milner is modern, boutique-style living in a secluded, yet convenient location. An eclectic mix of contemporary boutique and old-world charm, rest and recuperate in a space designed to offer complete comfort and relaxation.

During your time in Cape Town, you will discover the city's beauty. With 3 days in-store, there is time to explore the city as well as head further afield. South of Cape Town lies Simon’s Town and its famous penguin colony as well as Cape Point at the end of the peninsula, lying in a nature reserve of great scenic beauty and wild animals. Ask us about day tours in Cape Town or speak to the hotel concierge when you are there.

Day 7: Depart Cape Town

After a sumptuous breakfast, you gather your belongings and bid farewell to Cape Town as you transfer back to Cape Town International Airport for your scheduled flight home.

Seems pointless to book things direct when Safari.com can do it all for you at the same cost
I wasn’t actually planning on leaving a review until after our trip which has been scheduled for March 2025. I wasn’t even planning to use a travel company to assist as we are experienced travellers who are used to booking our own arrangements. The cost of going direct with suppliers and going through Safari.com was exactly the same - with the latter you also have outstanding service and advice which makes it pointless to do it yourself. But I felt compelled to leave a shout out for Leigh-Ann Croeser who has been extremely helpful in organising our itinerary for South Africa. Her response to queries was always prompt and professional. When we ultimately wish to travel to East Africa, I know who I will be contacting.
