When it comes to rare animal species, a mountain gorilla is one of the most fascinating mammals you will ever encounter, sharing 98% of the same DNA as humans. Getting up-close with a mountain gorilla involves trekking through Uganda's impenetrable Bwindi Forest National Park in search of the habituated gorilla family assigned to you. Depending on their location, you could find them in under thirty minutes or it could take a few hours.
There may be some slipping and sliding down some steeper sections of the path but it's manageable and totally worth the effort. Once you find the family, you are given an hour to watch these incredible animals as they play and interact with one another, and sometimes even walk up to or through the group.
This 5-day tour affords you the magical experience of encountering these animals in their natural habitat and is complemented with the charming lakeshore town of Entebbe with it's beautiful Botanical Gardens, Uganda Wildlife Education Center, and fun-filled beaches.

The next morning after breakfast you will be briefed by your guide before heading off into the northern parts of the Bwindi Forest in search of the gorilla family group assigned to your group. Many of the guides who accompany the various tour groups have been involved in the habituation process that has made these incredible animals less threatened by the presence of humans. Once the gorillas are located, the group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. You then begin your trek back to camp in time to enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

"Beyond expectations. We booked parts of our African trip through Gloria at Safari.com and we’re delighted with her suggestions and ability to work with us. From New Zealand, we needed advice and hers was very good. A lovely personal touch. Would strongly recommend. Thanks Gloria."
