"From the choir greeting when we arrived, to our sad farewell, this has been nothing less than excellent. We returned from our first game drive and were greeted by a bubble bath set out on the veranda, we had our beds moved outside so we could sleep under the stars, I highly recommend doing this. I have never seen a night sky so bright. The staff was attentive to our every need. The guides were fabulous. Our driver/guide was ICE, and I can't thank him enough for showing us the most animals in Botswana!"
"We traveled as a group of four friends and all concur - this was an experience that will always be remembered - not only for the warm hospitality, amazing game drives by our truly knowledgeable guide Ice but also for the ambiance of the camp and rooms. All were very clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished with a private deck overlooking the water. Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay - we were even treated on our return from a game drive to huge bubble baths laid out on the deck with candles and toiletries. Of the three camps that we stayed at this was the most magical. We also did the "Elephant Experience" - and what a truly amazing experience - thank you Doug and Sandy - two of the most dedicated folk I have yet met."
"What a great place to stay! In August, we went on our first trip to Africa and started here at Baines' Camp. There are only five huts, so our stay was very convivial. The staff and the food were superb, and the candlelit bubble baths on the porch one evening were very romantic. (The sound of a full grown hippo coming out of the water directly under our hut may have dampened the mood a little.) The game drives and our guide, Fred, were both top notch. We saw a leopard on the hunt (she missed her prey) and a host of other animals. We felt like we had the delta to ourselves (Stanley camp is nearby, but we didn't overlap too often). We also did the elephant encounter, in which you interact with three trained elephants and their handlers. This is a "must do" activity that you will remember forever. We went on a canoe trip through the marshes to an island formed by a termite mound that was very educational. My only caveats are that this is not a destination for smaller children (under age 10 or so), and it is colder in the morning and evening than we expected. But the staff gave us hot water bottles in our bed every night, which was very appreciated. Also, one evening, there was apparently a lion pride hunting near the camp, so the baboons in the trees were busy giving warning calls long into the night. It was interesting hearing them right outside. We stayed in four different camps during our trip, and this was both the most homey and the most rustic setting, even though the word "rustic" definitely does not apply to the management, service, or amenities. We highly recommend Baines for anyone visiting the delta."
"This camp of all of the camps we have stayed in throughout Africa was a little bit more rustic but the service was wonderful and the room/cabin was cute. The game drives were wonderful. One night we came back from dinner and there were matching bubble baths set up out on the outside deck overlooking the reeds and the river. At night you could hear the hippos in the water. The next night our bed was moved out on to the deck and we slept under the stars. It was an amazing experience. There were lanterns and candles everywhere which was lovely when we arrived. The last night we had a private dinner at the pool with fabulous food and wine and a guard to protect us from the lions. Overall this was a spectacular visit. We love Botswana and loved Baines Camp. We would visit again in a heart beat!"
"Absolutely Stunning! Enjoyed every minute and it was treat to come back to a bubble bath under the stars after a long time long day!!! We loved all of the Sanctuary camps and guides, but this was special! The most amazing sunset! Ready to go back today!"
"Wow what an amazing camp! Went on honeymoon and everything was amazing. We saw elephants, warthogs and hippos all whilst in camp. The staff are amazing, very friendly. I have a gluten intolerance which can be very tricky when going on holiday but they were great with it. They made me an amazing range of gluten free dishes. Loved having our bed outside, we did wake up to find a hippo was sleeping under our deck which was a great sight. Would 100% recommend and go back again."
"If you are looking for the world's most romantic get away, look no further. My fiancée proposed on the banks on the delta which was so special. Made even more special by the wonderful party the Baines team threw. Singing and dancing we were made to fell like a king and queen. Food is excellent, rooms are wonderful. Staff are second to none and guiding was superb. I can't rate the whole experience and the Baines team high enough."
"I visited with a friend for a weekend and it was the perfect weekend start to finish. From the moment we landed in Maun until we returned, everything was seamless and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We were warmly welcomed by the choir and Florence, all of whom continued to make us feel at home during our short stay. The rooms are lovely; they are rustic and beautifully incorporated into the setting, while also extremely comfortable. Every meal and snack was exceptional and with perfect wine pairings. Max, our guide, was fantastic and made sure we experienced the Delta with a motor boat and mokoro rides. He was such fun to be with and made each outing more enjoyable than we could imagine. Baines' camp thinks of every personal touch to make your stay as special as possible. Finally, a big thank you to Ally who planned our trip. More than professional, she was kind and helpful making our wonderful experience start before we even arrived. I could not recommend this camp more highly. Thank you for everything!!"
"We traveled with friends and stayed 2 days. Amazing landscape with beautiful vistas and stargazing. The staff was outstanding and very attentive. Dinners on the deck were wonderful with a nice variety and good wines. Make sure you do the Elephant interaction with Doug and Sandy- not to be missed. Nighttime was noisy with frogs/ birds and hippos walking right past your deck! Bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper but what a treat to sleep in the bush with all the animal activity around you. Also, if available, take a sundowner boat ride on the river. Fred, our guide, was excellent and we communed with hippos and even fished as the sun set over the Savannah- a very tranquil sight! Definitely recommended!"
