"Arriving at a small airstrip from Joburg ,there was Dinamosi ( Dynamo) our Ranger to greet us with a beaming smile and tons of enthusiasm. Our drive to the lodge took 20 minutes and immediately with Dynamo's knowledge and explanation of what the experience was going to be like, we knew we were in for a marvelous time. Met at the lodge by Chelsea and Matron we were greeted with a wet flannel to freshen ourselves up and a cool refreshing drink. Our lodge on the edge of a dry riverbed had a 7 ft bed, an enormous lounge, a large bathroom with a glass sided shower so you feel part of real life, a lounge - all beautifully decorated. A minibar with a full range of drinks and a brilliant air conditioning unit. Outside is another shower and a magical plunge pool from where you view the wonderful wildlife. In the resort there is a dining area for breakfast, a library, lounge, a gym, and a pool. It is worth mentioning at this point that although breakfast is in one place for you and your colleague gamers and Ranger, other meals were located in different parts of the Resort on an individual basis by lodge party number size and without giving away a secret, sometimes in places where you would be totally shocked but excited. The resort team and special mention to Maurice and Reply always surprised you on a daily basis. Our first drive was at 4.30 pm on a Landrovers with tiered seats ( a safari van! ) . This resort is one of very few that limits each row in the Landrovers to two people - many other resorts are three in a row. So the three hour safari was going to be comfortable but bumpy. Within seconds of leaving the lodge we were driving through Impala and by the end of the first drive we had seen 3 of the big five and 11 different animals - my camera was in meltdown. Part of both the evening and morning drives is a stop somewhere for a drink and stretch of the legs and a chance to film/admire the wonderful sunrise and sunset. As important as the wildlife for us was the enthusiasm and knowledge of Dynamo and our tracker Isaac. These two are stars with wonderful knowledge, great humour and whatever stupid question you had to ask they had an answer. Every sighting was explained and in many cases the animal was named and an explanation of their life on the reserve and how old it was. We learnt so much - thank you. Getting back to the lodge there is time for a freshen up and then, although the range of food is limited it was delicious, and on many occasions locally sourced. The team would always ask if there was something special you would like. The BBQ or Boma night was great fun and without giving away another secret had a great end! We were lucky to have 8 safari drives while we stayed at the lodge - we saw the big five many times - we saw on counting up at the end over 50 different animals, over 30 different birds and nearly two kills but were within minutes of that. We were extremely impressed by the absolute respect of all the Sabi lodge safari drives in that they contact each other by radio of sightings in the area and then, for protection and respect for the wildlife will only have two vehicles at a time at the sighting. The morning drives at 5.30am took time to get used to but eventually we were looking forward to getting up for another exciting day. I could go on for ever - a marvellous experience with great people a wonderful resort and our heart stays with them We are going back."
"This is a fantastic place, very exciting game reserves and unbelievable welcoming and hospitable team working there. Quite an achievement to have created a hotel in the middle of the African bush where you can instantly feel at home!"
"It was honestly one of the best holidays I have ever done. It was an incredible and unique experience right from the start. My husband and I went for Dulini for our honeymoon and we were spoilt the whole time with surprise lunches, dinners, amazing ambient, 5 star food and a super kind and friendly staff. Our ranger and tracker did everything to show us the big 5 almost every single time we went on a drive. We met people that had gone on safaris for 30 times and they said that so far Dulini was one of the best lodges they had ever been to. It just talked about the quality of where we were staying. I would recommend it always."
"We stayed at Dulini Lodge 4 nights during our honeymoon in August. The place is a mix of luxury and rustic immerse in the nature. The staff is very professional and will take excellent care of you. The food was the best we have ever tasted and the villas are beautiful. The safari are well organized and the area is full of animals. We were able to see the big five in only 2 exits. Highly recommended."
"We spent five nights at Dulini while celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. What can I say about this magical place? The attention to detail is amazing. The accommodations are five star. We were lucky enough to have nice weather so we spent many afternoons on the deck and in our plunge pool. The food was extraordinary. I have food allergies and they chef prepared special items for me that were gluten and dairy free, all delicious! Ian, the director at Dulini, was at the resort during our stay and we had the privilege of having him host several dinners and breakfast. A more genuine person you could not hope to meet. His love for South Africa, the people and what he does in apparent. Our trackers Martin and Dinomosi were outstanding. We not only saw the Big 5 we saw the Magnificent 7, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos and so much more. Having drinks in the bush during the evening was a highlight that we looked forward to. On our anniversary we were treated to champagne and a romantic, candlelight dinner in our room, with a bubble bath! During your visit to Dulini you feel like part of a large family. We are already planning our 25th anniversary and a week's stay at Dulini."
"We kicked off our honeymoon at Dulini for three nights and agreed that it was the highlight of our two weeks traveling throughout Africa. The Lodge is beautiful, accommodations are unreal. All very private with a view of the river. During our first day there were a heard of at least 10 elephants playing directly outside our deck. The service and staff are unmatched and the food was some of the best food we experienced during our trip. Each evening there was a different setting for dinner which kept things fresh and fun. We cannot thank everyone enough for the memories you have given us. Aside from how wonderful the Lodge is the actual safari was by far the highlight. Issac and Dinomus were our ranger and tracker and they did a fantastic job. We saw the big 5 plus so much more. They are very experienced and you can tell they know what they're doing. After spending time at Dulini and seeing the other lodges in the area I wouldn't even consider staying else ware. High;y recommend it!"
"I don't even know where to begin. There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe our experience at Dulini. After a flight and two+ hour drive to the lodge, we were immediately greeted with cold towels and a refreshing ginger drink. Jesse graciously guided us to the comfortable sitting room where we were able to relax and enjoy our drink. Each of the six guest lodges are beyond amazing, each with their own private, heated plunge pool. The wildlife viewing from this vantage point was incredible. Showering in the outdoor shower, with monkeys in the trees overhead, was so special. Everything at Dulini is complementary and replaced continuously. The game drives were beyond my expectations. Our Ranger, Fred, was simply the best! His knowledge of the bush and all the wildlife was unbelievable. We had some of the most amazing experiences. And our Tracker, Isaac, was also extremely talented, friendly, and knowledgeable. What was most enjoyable about the drives was Fred's approach to experiencing quality of quantity. This approach really allowed you to appreciate and understand how challenging it is for the wildlife to survive in the bush. I never expected to be so up close and personal with lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, hyenas, buffalo, wild dogs, etc. You could easily have reached out and touch these magnificent creatures. Our last game drive had us among 4 male lions who were engaged in responsive roaring. Simply unbelievable. It was my birthday while at Dulini and the staff surprised me with a birthday celebration at a candlelight dinner in a riverbed in the bush. We were greeted by Popi and her colleagues singing and dancing and I was treated to the singing of "Happy Birthday" in Swazi. They even baked a cake for me! A birthday I will remember, always. In conclusion, Dulini is the only place to stay in Sabi Sands. It is a decision you won't regret. We were sad when we had to leave. Would return in a heartbeat!"
"We fell in love with Dulini the second we arrived: very warm greetings and welcoming after a long long long ride from the airport. The rooms deserve beyond a 5 stars rating: spacious, luxurious and extremely comfortable. There is a small private outdoor pool in the middle of the bushes (perfect after the morning safari) and outdoor showers which make the whole experience even more adventurous. One day, we could see elephants on the other side of the dry river (which is actually close enough for an adrenaline rush). Every night, a special dinner setting was set: The first night, an exquisite dinner assembled all rooms' guests together, and stories of adventurous sightings were shared by a small fire. On our last night, the staff had prepared a surprise for us all by meeting us in the middle of the bushes, right after the night safari, with African songs and dance moves which was more than thrilling!!! Also, they had set a splendid local dinner buffet with amazing local foods that made us come back home proud to have had a real taste of South Africa. The game drives by themselves are worth the value of the stay. Even though all lodges get to see all kinds of animals, Dulini was one of the few whose seats are the best: There are only two seats per row in the vehicle, which makes it so much comfortable to sit, take pictures and come extremely close to all animals. Also, there is a stand for those who wish to place their cameras in a way to avoid blurry pictures. And, between the seats, there are boxes in which we could find: night vision glasses, binoculars and many other helpful things. In the morning drive, blankets and hot bags were provided to keep our feet and hands warm. My husband loved the stops in the middle of the game drive in which Patrick (our ranger) and Tyron (our tracker) made us hot chocolate with Amarula and cookies (in the morning) and Brandi and Coke in the evening. I already miss those treats :S Patrick and Tyron are professionals and they did their best to make us experience the life of the animals in Kruger Park. We saw all big fives and wild dogs, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, a cheetah, hippos, crocodiles, etc.. along with a huge variety of birds. I wish to add that we love the fact that they do not interfere with animals' habitat, whether in their food or their comfort which makes it perfectly safe for the vehicles to go on the drives and get as close as possible to all animals. On our first day, Patrick took us on a bush walk in which he showed us how to trace animals, and explained the benefits of some plants, etc. It was an amazing experience!!! We came face to face with a rhino and giraffes and Patrick explained to us in details about all animals: what they eat, their strengths, weaknesses, etc... Each game drive was different, more exciting than the one before it and extremely interesting and fun!!! I made my best to state everything. But I definitely forgot a lot of things. We felt like we have lived there for ages and not only for just 3 nights. We were treated like family. We will for sure visit again!!!"
"We had the most amazing experience at Dulini. From the moment we arrived we were looked after like we were family, nothing was too much trouble. Our suite was private, clean and more than 5 star, it was pure opulence. Our guide and tracker made sure that we had the best of sightings with the big five sighted one more than one occasion. As photographers we appreciated the cars only having two seats across which allowed us to have optimal viewing at all times. We were delighted with outstanding cuisine at each meal and enjoyed the intimate touches of candle light dinning in our suite. An absolutely fantastic experience. We will be back."
"We left Dulini feeling a sense of belonging and yearning to return. The experience is an indulgence of all your senses. We had a 5 star experience, from the gourmet food, luxurious rooms, idealistic location and outstanding caring and professional staff. The game viewing was spectacular. On all our game drives we experienced close encounters with a variety of game, including fascinating birdlife and insect species. Our ranger, Fred, was the most delightful, entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable and insightful guy. Dulini Lodge is by far my most special destination, a place I hold close to my heart."
