Reviews

"Warm welcome with a juice. We were a bit to early and had to wait half an hour for our room. Enjoyed the very nice views from the terrace. Terrace is looking to a pool with lots of wildlife. We had the buffalo room and it was magnificent! We had the same look on the pool as from our big and private terrace. Beautiful bathroom with inside and outside shower. Big tub. Very large room with romantic bed. After a good lunch we were ready for the sunset game drive. Drive was excellent and already spotted 4 of 5 on the big five list. Missed the buffalo although we had the buffalo room. Rangers can go very close to game. We were only 2 meters away from leopard, lions and other wildlife. After drive big surprise in our room. Our bed was covered with flowers in a hart shape. Very nice gesture! Next dinner. We were all siting in a circle. Again very good food. Last drink in the bar and back to the room. Another surprise! Full bath including flowers and a full bottle of sparkling wine. Hard time getting up at 5 for the sunrise game drive but we did cover all big 5 and received the certificate. After a good breakfast we had an hour bush walk and it was time to say goodbye. Amazing experience and just perfect. Very highly recommend. Is worth the price and a must do. Many thanks to the crew and our ranger Howie."

"This trip to Africa was a high school graduation gift for my 18 year old daughter. We were so lucky to have found and booked this lodge. We were a mother and daughter team on an adventure and this lodge was wonderful. We stayed in "Buffalo" and had wonderful private views of the dry river bed -- animals traversed here every day! The food was really good and lots of choices at breakfast. Sitting outside for the Boma at night was a wonderful treat and the food was delicious - especially dessert! The highlight, of course, were the two safari trips each day. Words cannot describe. Jonathan (ranger) and Derrick (tracker) were top notch. I can't recommend this place enough."

"I stayed in Elephant Plains Game Lodge with my parents (aprox. 68 years old) and my son (12 years old), we had a wonderful time. We love all the arrangements and the lodge is awesome, luxurious and the staff is extremely helpfull. Our safari experiences were excellent. We enjoyed very much the company of our ranger (Richard) and tracker (Clement)."

"Elephant Plains was incredible! Individual service, yet they give you space. The staff are friendly, they cater for your every need and nothing is too difficult and the rooms are amazing. The game drives are awesome - obviously - that is why you go to Elephant Plains. But it is the extras that count - the knowledge shared, the 100's of questions answered, the desire to show you the best of what is on offer, the consideration for photos, best views - you name it! Definitely going back. WHAT A SPOT!"

"After a long days drive to the venue, we were warmly welcomed by all the lodges staff at reception and given a most welcomed refreshment. All the staff, from the waiter to the game ranger where most friendly, helpful and provided excellent service! Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations and I cannot recommend this venue enough! Certainly the best lodge in Africa! :)"

"I would highly recommend Elephant Plains Game Lodge to anyone considering a South African safari. The game viewing was fantastic in all regards: the number of sightings, the variety of game, and most especially the quality of the viewing. Our ranger expertly placed us so close to the animals that at times we felt like part of the herd. We could actually hear the roots snapping as cape buffalo pulled up clumps of grass. Amazing experience. The lodge itself is comfortable and the food is great. Everything is well managed and coordinated. My only complaint (and its a small one) is the stone floor of the shower is hard on the feet."

"The best thing we ever did!"

"This is 5 star in every sense from the accommodation through to all the staff but especially our extraordinary guide Devon and remarkable tracker Vuise. Our family with two children aged 9 and 10 were on a trip of a lifetime and Elephant Plains ticked every box in style. I know nobody can guarantee seeing The Big Five but we did and a whole lot more including wild dogs - 3 sightings in 24 hours was pure magic! We are certain that this was primarily due to the skill of Devon & Vuise especially the leopard on our last morning. And our unsung hero? The young lady chef who cooked up a storm for every meal and made New Year's Eve 2013 very special indeed!!! We cannot recommend this lodge highly enough..."

"I was lucky enough to spend part of my honeymoon here in October this year. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the experience really was magical. I don't use that term lightly! The staff were so welcoming and helpful, the food was delightful and the wildlife was quite simply amazing. We were lucky enough to see all of the big five plus more. Our guide was called Monea ( I hope I have spelt that right) and he couldn't have been better. He was happy to answer any questions we had and always managed to get us to the right place at the right time to ensure we didn't miss any of the magical moments! My highlight was definitely watching a leopard cub and it's mother hide away from a hungry hyena. An emotional rollercoaster! I loved this place, our room was beautiful, more than beautiful. We stayed in the Manyeleti honeymoon suite which had its own dipping pool and indoor and out door shower. It also had a beautiful decking area which over looked a watering hole that the elephants often used. Both myself and my husband were so sorry to leave, and that is saying something as he can be very difficult to please at times! :). Out of 10 I would score this a 20! I have stayed in 5 star hotels across the world that do not come close to the beauty of this place and its surroundings and staff. Highly recommend and I really hope I get the chance to go again one day."
