"Kirkmans is fantastic from the moment you arrive to the time when you have to reluctantly leave! Staff are very good, food is excellent and of course the game viewing is exceptional. Saw Big 5 within 24 hours, with amazing Leopard kill sighting. Cant wait to return"

"Game drives: the area around the lodge is teaming with free roaming life. Through the incredible expert skills of your tracker and game ranger, you're highly likely to see many, if not all of the big five, and so much more. You'll get up close but never invade, which is a testament to the lodge's philosophy and professionalism. You'll also see an incredible diversity of birds - something I wasn't expecting to enchant me as much as it did. The lodge: it's stunning and the team that bring it all together are awesome. The atmosphere at the lodge is really friendly and this encourages guests to meet other guests (if they want to). The food: fantastic, your every wish is catered for which is remarkable when you think about where you are! I cannot recommend this lodge enough. I'm not going to single out individuals (although Ally and Richie were amazing) because every team member does their bit to make sure your lodge experience is very special - thank you"

"The safari at Kirkmans was absolutely amazing - words can't capture how pleased we were with the experience. The accommodations were luxurious - certainly not what one would expect in the middle of the bush. Our guide was so knowledgeable that he made the experience enjoyable, educational and memorable, and we got to see all of the big five. The staff was so courteous and literally catered to our every whim, and let's not even talk about the copious amounts of delicious food."

"We couldn't have asked for more ... fabulous accommodation, excellent food, wide selection of bar items, great service, excellent safari drives and rangers and trackers. Vehicles were comfortable and equipped with blankets and hot water bottles for early morning drives. Rangers were really keen to please and did everything to meet our wishes regarding the animals we wanted to see. Driving off road and getting close to animals was an incredible experience and one we'll treasure for a long time. The bush breakfast on the banks of the river was a lovely end to our first morning drive. The lodge was wonderfully comfortable and we couldn't believe our good fortune to see so many animals. The service and staff were second to none - even offering to do all our washing for us - which was very welcome after 2 weeks living out of suitcases. Kirkman's was a real highlight of our trip to Africa and the only way to visit Kruger."

"The team were great for us, especially after we provided some negative feedback after our first day. value for money is hard to achieve after about $250 pp per night. the bed was great, the food was good and the property is fabulously decorated. What makes it great is the reinvestment into wildlife conservation and better living standards for local Africans, and long term, reliable, humane jobs for the staff. Keep up the good work."

"Kirkman's Kamp was amazing. The accommodations and food are first rate and the staff is so very pleasant and nice. The food was delicious and they cater to your every need. Now for the Safari experience- superb!! We had a great ranger and tracker- Daniel and Jopeth. They listened so well to what we wanted to see and preserved to ensure we saw all the wildlife up close and in many different ways. The ride in the jeep was thrilling and the viewing exceptional. What a great place to enjoy a Safari!"

"Spent 4 days at Kirkman's Kamp. From the moment we arrived until the time we left, the service was exceptional. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were welcomed to Kirkman's by Katherine , the manager. My husband and I both felt we were being welcomed to Katherine's own home. Our butler Thomas, couldn't have done more for us. His service was unobtrusive and friendly and after 1 day he knew our likes and dislikes. Our ranger Ralph and our tracker/spotter Dave found all the animals we were looking for. I especially wanted to see a cheetah (my favourite animal) but they are fairly rare in Sabi Sands. Lucky for me, 1 had been spotted near the camp with a kill. On our first game drive, Ralph took us to where she was. It was a magical experience. We went off road into places we never thought we would get to and got closer to the animals that we never thought was possible. At Kirkman's only 2 vehicles are allowed at a sighting at any one time, which means we could spend more time with a particular animal. On each morning drive we stopped for a morning coffee in a safe spot and on 1 particular morning an impromptu early breakfast of freshly cooked pikelets was waiting for us. Every evening game drive we stopped for a "sundowner" and on our last night a "springbok" was waiting for us. This is an African lacquer. On our final morning we had to depart early and a light breakfast was waiting for us. Kirkman's Kamp is what I expected a safari to be. A beautiful 1920's colonial homestead with accommodation in keeping with the period. No modern buildings of glass and chrome. We have traveled extensively and this safari is the number 1 destination of great places we have visited. Thank you everyone at Kirkman's for our surperb stay."

"We spent 4 nights at Kirkmans as a family with 3 kids after spending 5 nights earlier in our holiday with excellent game viewing in the Timbavati. Our fear was that we would tire of the bush and the whole safari experience. We could not have been more wrong. This is a stunning understood 1920's homestead colonial design situated on the banks of the one of the major Sabie/sands rivers. To wake every morning and watch the sun come up over the valley below and view the river in early sun was spectacular. The game viewing was unbelievable. We booked a private vehicle and being keen photographers meant we were able to spend time watching the animals in a more relaxed way. We saw 4 different leopards, with 1 sighting of a stunning large male lasting for some hours. We were treated to a sighting of a fully mature pair of large male lions hunting buffalo at one morning, which was so exciting I thought we might need CPR! We also were privileged to see Wild dog and their 13 pups playing out in the open. Our ranger Rickus and tracker Victor worked exceptionally hard to show us some different things including the smaller things (bugs and scorpions) and more subtle ways of the bush. Rickus was superb, engaging with our 9 year old boy, letting him ride up front and challenging him to learn something ahead of the night's stargaze. Class! The accommodation was an authentic African colonial style and rooms very well appointed. we enjoyed the butler system Kirkmans offered, allowing us and the kids to form a real bond and feeling of being looked after. We loved the boma dinner and in particular the traditional singing. Watching all the staff including trackers and rangers stomping to a full African drum beat was really enjoyable and gave a lovely sense of the closeness of the Kirkmans team. The food was really excellent and we really enjoyed the variety of game meat on offer. I had to remind myself we were in the bush! The spa and infinity pool were a real hit. I really wish this camp had gym, then we would want to stay even longer. We will definitely be going back !!"

"Having been to many different locations on safaris, this ranks among the best. The history of the location, it's beauty and the attention to details are just some of what this location has oodles of. I was there with my 11 year old son in August and both of us were pleasantly surprised. The team were incredibly friendly, from the head, Brendan and his team to our ranger team of Ally/Richard all went out of their way to make sure we had a great father son experience. The food was excellent, the service attentive without being over the top, the game drives superb. And it was not just us, the other people all at the camp raved about the camaraderie among all the visitors. There is something special happening there, where everything just came together effortlessly to make it a truly good experience. Couples, groups, kids, older travelers would all enjoy a stop here. I would love to return one day!"

"Recently stayed three nights and it was awesome. Magical does not describe the property or the people. Our Ranger was Ralph and David was the Guide. Ralph was patient and very experienced we saw the big 5 many times. I was amazed at some of the sightings then finding them. Learned about footprints and who and where they were headed. Saw more animals than I can begin to describe sometimes at a distance sometimes within feet. Leopard walked 2 feet away from us it was amazing. Moses was our Butler and he catered to our every desire. Nothing was too hard for him. Cannot begin to describe the quality and amount of food. Many special touches but do not want to ruin the surprises for new guests. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Catherine the manager was on the spot always and quickly helped us with any issues. WIFI works to a degree but you are in the middle of Africa! I bet we took over 1000 pictures across six drives and the lodge is something very special. If I was going to do one safari and this was available it would be a no brainer."
