The Detail
Deep in the shade of a cluster of Londolozi's beautiful 500-year-old ebony trees, Pioneer Camp is nestled in the seclusion of the stunning Londolozi Private Game Reserve. This luxury camp, with its breathtaking river views, offers guests an unparalleled experience of beauty and service.
Londolozi Game Reserve, part of the greater Sabi Sand Game Reserve, is renowned for its focus on luxury and exclusivity. Spanning 34,594 acres along the western border of Kruger National Park, Londolozi was envisioned and developed by brothers Dave and John Varty, both passionate wildlife conservationists. It has gained international recognition as a model of ecotourism principles.
Londolozi Pioneer Camp features three exclusive suites, each offering four-poster king-size beds draped with mosquito netting, ensuite bathrooms with double vanities, a bathtub, and both indoor and outdoor showers. Additional features include underfloor heating, a lounge area, a writing desk, air conditioning, bathrobes, in-room safes, a hairdryer, a minibar, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a private deck with a plunge pool and loungers. Two of the three suites can interconnect, making them ideal for family travel.
The camp's facilities include a lounge, dining area, bar, gym, kids club, laundry service, spa, curio shop, and a swimming pool. Guests will find something to delight them at every turn.
Londolozi is famous for its Big Five sightings, with a special focus on leopards. Impalas, kudus, nyalas, giraffes, warthogs, and other wildlife roam freely across the park, while the Sand River is home to Cape clawless otters and hippo pods. Nocturnal safaris let guests spot creatures such as white-tailed mongooses, African civets, and large-spotted genets.
This area is also a bird lover's paradise, with 303 bird species calling it home. These include the white-crested helmetshrike, lilac-breasted roller, brown-headed parrot, emerald-spotted dove, scarlet-chested sunbird, woodland kingfisher, and the red-chested cuckoo. You may also spot Wahlberg's eagle, the crested francolin, saddle-billed storks, grey herons, and pied kingfishers around the waterholes.
Pioneer Camp activities include twice-daily game drives in open vehicles, guided bush walks, wildlife tracking, yoga sessions, astronomy lectures, spa treatments, birdwatching, and photographic safaris. It offers an ideal retreat for honeymooners, families, and small groups looking for an exclusive safari getaway.
