The Details

Just three hours’ drive from Cape Town along the scenic Route 62, Sanbona sprawls across 54,000 hectares of rugged mountains and vast plains. Sanbona is home to an impressive variety of succulents, birds, and wildlife, including the only free-roaming white lions in the world.

Surrounded by spectacular ancient rock formations and situated on a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine dotted with thorn trees, Sanbona Dwyka Tented Lodge offers guests a secluded and luxurious safari adventure. A pioneering ambiance envelops visitors in this awe-inspiring location, once the domain of Khoisan hunter-gatherers. The friendly staff provides excellent service to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay.

Dwyka Tented Lodge’s nine indulgently appointed luxury tents offer accommodation for a maximum of eighteen guests in either king-size or twin beds. The spacious tents feature sumptuous open-plan bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. Each tent has a private secluded deck with a refreshing spa bath, offering magnificent views over the stark, rugged landscape. Small touches, such as an African legend on your pillow each night, demonstrate the great attention to detail at the lodge.

Facilities at the lodge include an open-air dining boma, a lounge with a fireplace, satellite television, a wine cellar, a gift boutique, two spa therapy rooms, and Wi-Fi.

Sanbona offers the Big Five and boasts the only free-roaming, self-sustaining white lions in the world. The reserve is home to a variety of large and small antelope, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, hippos, cheetahs, and smaller game such as black-backed jackals and caracals. Evening game drives provide the opportunity to see nocturnal creatures like the aardwolf, brown hyena, and porcupine.

Activities offered on the reserve include game drives, nature walks, spa treatments, San rock art exploration, boat safaris, and stargazing.
