The Marakele National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, with the mountains providing a safe haven for a number of interesting and unique plant, mammal and bird species.
Marataba is most famous for its leopard sightings with at least 30 recorded in the reserve and many more yet to be discovered. The Ground Pangolin is a rarely seen species which can be viewed more often at Marataba than at most other reserves.
