The Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp is situated on the private Singita Grumeti Reserve which forms part of the world-renowned Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The reserves cover 350 000 acres of pristine wilderness, which adjoins the Western Corridor of the Serengeti. As there is no fencing, the wildlife moves freely between the National Park and the reserves. The Grumeti concession was created to preserve the vast biodiversity of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem, and protect the path of the annual wildebeest migration. Singita now manages this concession, with the objective of ensuring long-term sustainability through low-impact tourism.
The camp is an exclusive use back-to-basics mobile camp offering guests a true safari adventure. The camp is positioned according to the movement of the animals, which ensures guests of some truly incredible wildlife sightings, especially during the Great Migration. The camp is pitched and set-up based on the requirements of each booking. There are six tents that can accommodate a maximum of 12 people.
Each Tent has a comfortable double bed, an en-suite bathroom with a bucket shower, tea & coffee making facilities, and a separate sitting area in front of the tent.
There is a mess tent, open plan lounge, dining area, library, guest computer, and a restroom.
The Serengeti is renowned for incredible game viewing all year round but the biggest attraction to this region is during the annual Migration when approximately 500,000 Thompson's gazelle, 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra, and 18,000 eland migrate in a circular pattern between Tanzania and Kenya. The migratory pattern is based on the rainfall, as the animals seek out the newly sprouted grasses. The Serengeti is also renowned for its predator sightings so lion, leopard and cheetah can be seen in the reserve along with giraffe, buffalo, and various antelope species.
The camp activities include twice daily game drives in open-sided Land Cruisers, cultural tours, hot air balloon safaris, and canine unit experiences.
Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp is ideal for families and small groups looking for an exlcusive and authentic tented safari getaway.

"This is my second trip to Grumeti reserve but my first time staying in the mobile tented camp at Lions Rock. The panoramic view that opens up in front of you every morning you wake up to have breakfast is simply breathtaking. On our second day, a mixed herd of zebras and wildebeests came to graze in the open plains in front of the camp, as if putting on a show for us. I cannot emphasize how impressed I was with the quality of food served at this camp. I have eaten at other lodges in the Grumeti reserve on my last trip three years ago, so I knew food would be good, but at the mobile camp virtually everything is cooked on a BBQ, yet there are surprises at every meal. They even baked special muffins for our horses, which looked good enough for people to eat! Service is very personal and the staff always knew when to appear and when to leave you alone. At night there are guards to escort you from dining tent back to your own tent (with ensuite bathroom complete with flushing toilet), and although there are no telephone lines there is a whistle in the tent to blow on in case of emergency. My friend and I felt very safe and protected the entire time, even when we can hear the lions outside at night not too far from the tent."
