"Nice hotel to stay when visiting the Wine Area. Nice to stay with kids. A very big hotel, but old buildings, nicely restored and hotel rooms in new buildings very spacious. Beautiful gardens. Did not have time to see the eagles show, but certainly worthwhile to see. Furthermore a conference hotel with groups, so not very cozy if that is what you are looking for."

"Very friendly and very good service received. Very highly recommend this to my friends. From arriving at the hotel and booking into our room we received the friendliest service. We were escorted to our room and we received a complimentary gift on arrival. Very much appreciated. We will definitely return."

"Myself and my partner spent 3 days at Spier and I find it hard to find much fault in the experience. It was a pity we didn't have more days but we still managed to squeeze in lunch at Eight - the farm-to-table restaurant, a picnic from the Eight-to-Go deli, a signature wine tasting experience, dinner and spa treatments at the hotel. The rooms are set in a quaint Cape Dutch village, very spacious, elegant and comfortable. We will definitely be returning for a follow up trip."

"We stayed in Spier on the 16th and 17th November. We arrived late morning and were greeted by a glass of Spier wine and taken by gold buggy to our room. I would certainly recommend the garden terrace rooms as they open out on to a small pool area. The bigger pool is close to the main part of the hotel. Overall standards of service were excellent, very friendly staff and restaurant food was superb. The wine tasting area is a short walk from the accommodation, but worth trying their wines, especially their flagship wine. It's a little bit from the centre of Stellenbosch but taxis are cheap and the hotel can sort this as well as private wine tours which are a must."

"Stayed here for one night, wished it could have been longer. Lovely grounds and public seating areas. Buffet breakfast was good. Room was superb as were the staff. Location is a few miles out of town. Definitely recommend."

"Lots to do at Spier, very well organised, including the wine tasting, excellent food in main restaurant and lovely picnic food (plus places to eat it) available on site. It would be helpful to have restaurant opening times on the map of the hotel site."

"I have just returned from a trip to South Africa touring along the Garden Route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. During my trip I stayed at the Spier Hotel in Stellenbosch and found the hotel and surrounding estate well worth a visit. The hotel and rooms were very good and clean with good facilities. The hotel is on the wine estate and I found all of the staff very friendly and helpful. There were free bicycles available as the estate has a rescue raptor centre, restaurants, wine history and small shops selling local arts and crafts. The raptor centre was especially good with very knowledgeable staff and helpers."

"The best part of our stay at Spier Hotel was to walk in the wine farm and see all historical buildings and beautiful surroundings. Our room had a big terrace and the room was very spacious. Kids will love the big playground."
