In the eastern section of the vast Okavango Delta, lies Moremi Game Reserve, a region of startling contrasts - a waterless center of Savannah and dry woodland surrounded by lily-filled waterways, scattered floodplains, lagoons, riverine forest and palm-fringed islands. Chief Island is one of these islands and considered as having the finest game-viewing in Southern Africa.
Consistently rated by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the top safari destinations in Botswana, Chief’s offers guests superb service, fine cuisine, luxurious accommodation and superb opportunities to view the Big Five, all in splendid seclusion.
Chief’s Camp offers ten Luxury Pavilions and a Luxury Suite positioned in a shady

In season, tranquil mokoro trips provide a soothing way of viewing the multitude of water birds and pods of grunting hippos up close and afford a view of the plains wildlife from the water.
The lodge can organize scenic helicopter flights over the delta, exposing guests to spectacular aerial views of areas unreachable by vehicle or boat.
Large numbers of plains game and predators are found throughout the year. After the recent introduction of rhino to this concession, the area is home to the Big Five. Predators abound and include several

"Chief's camp is easily one of the best in the Okavango delta (stayed in 3 camps in May 2015). Not only because of its superb location in the Moremi reserve; what better views for breakfast or evening cocktails (surrounded by hippos and elephants in the plains). But the staff was extremely present, helpful and kind. Knew your name instantly and were attentive to your needs. The trekker we had (Rex) born in the delta, plus his extensive professional training and experience was the best. A better way to see the big five in photographer's paradise does hardly exist."
"Just this week we arrived back home from our recent holiday to Botswana and Zambia. We had such a great and unforgettable time there. Chief’s Camp in the Okavango Delta was our first destination. We stayed there from 9th till 13th May 2015. The warm welcome by the managers and Chief’s choir touched us deeply and made us feel as part of the “family” right away. From our tent we had a great view and could observe hippos, elephants, birds etc. in their natural habitat. During our game drives the abundant variety of animals we saw exceeded our expectations by far. Every moment of our stay was a pleasure and a joy and this not only because of the superb location, the great accommodation, the spa and exciting activities. Each team member of Chief’s staff made our stay unforgettable. We were so warmly welcomed, treated with so much friendliness and looked after with so much care it can hardly be described. All our needs and wishes were always and at any time accommodated. Particularly, we would like to point out that all team members we met - including management, senior and junior staff - are extremely well-trained, have a very broad knowledge and do their jobs wholeheartedly and with joy. They read their guests’ mind even before a wish can be expressed. We would like to thank Evelyn, Willem, Martin, Rati, Catherine, Monks, Basadi, Maggie, Noria and all the other staff members who looked after us so well. The memories are vivid in our minds and we are looking forward to our next stay at Chief’s and can hardly wait to meet with all these friendly and caring people again. Till then,"
"Exciting journey from previous camp in small aircraft, great welcome by manager and staff. Our guide Skye was very knowledgeable and showed us all the tracks, it was wonderful to see all the animals in their natural environment and the black rhino's were as interested in us as much as we were with them, our first experience of Africa and hope to go back again."
"We have stayed at many bush camps and none can compare with the overall experience we had at Chief's camp. The game viewing was superb, we spent time with the Wild Dogs in their den whilst they were feeding their 14 pups, lions feeding on a buffalo, leopard within a metre of us etc. It was a real treat to be spoilt by the most attentive and friendly staff. This is a really well managed camp."
"We stayed at four camps over the course of our safari and this was our favorite!!! The location is amazing, the bush pavilions were a nice change after staying in tents for a few nights. The food was good and the game drives were amazing. It was the staff that really makes this place special. Our guides were amazing. A special shout out to Rati, Evelyn, Wilhem and Basadi for everything. We were celebrating my daughters birthday and my sons graduation from college and the staff sang and treated us like family. An extra special shout out to Nellie who found my wedding ring after I had misplaced it getting ready for an early morning game drive. We did not want to leave! The stars are amazing- we saw the Milky Way and the Southern Cross. We also had a lovely massage one afternoon."
"We just spent three amazing nights at Chief’s Camp. Starting with the game drives which was the reason we went, there were stretches of jarring drives bouncing in the Jeep when we didn’t see much besides the sometimes serene and sometimes stark landscape, and then – WOW! Our tracker certainly knew how to read the environment to find us some unforgettable wildlife sightings. Our “tent” was very comfortable as were the common areas. We loved sitting on our deck and in the common areas to see what might stroll by (and something always did, sometimes just a few feet away). And the food was so good! I won’t confess how much weight I gained. The staff was just wonderful – everyone was so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The evening and early morning game drives were cool and the mid-days were quite hot so you do need those layers of clothing everyone recommends. The Camp will undergo a renovation starting in January so as great as it was when we went, I guess it will only get even better. You’ll love it!"
"We are just back from a brilliant trip to the Okavango Delta and we attribute its success to the guides and staff of Chief's Camp, our home in the Moremi Game Reserve. Our guide Kenosi is a master at tracking wild game; each drive we were able to spot prides of lion, and we spotted several Leopard. It was fascinating to learn how he did it; what he was able to pick up based upon the animal footprints, sounds of birds, baboon & monkeys nearby, etc. He is an encyclopedia when it comes to animal flora & fauna. Back at camp, we were pampered to indulgence. The food and wine is top notch, our guest quarters and the common grounds were always immaculate. The setting is stunning. And, the crew at Chief's camp were so wonderful to us, it was hard to leave."
"During our first 24 hours we saw 4 of the big five, only missing the elusive Rhino. Our guide, and tracker, Sky, was professional, entertaining and engaging making the entire experience wonderful. I suggest requesting him. The facility was excellent, the service excellent, and the amenities, drinks and minibar included, laundry included were heaven sent. The food was wonderful. One of our party couldn't have milk products, so they make muffins and snacks for her without milk. They even called ahead to our next camp to advise them. The general manager Evelyn ensures an outstanding experience. We were fortunate to be there when they had a cookout, where the choir and staff put on a local show that was fantastic . This facility exceeded our expectations by a lot ."
"I think I will run out of adjectives before I finish this review. We had such a wonderful experience at this camp. The main building is open air and beautiful with numerous areas to look over the grass looking for animals or just read a book. Decorated in the appropriate theme but making it warm and inviting as well. Evelyn and her staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable , welcome and pampered. The refreshing towels and cool drinks waiting for you upon your arrival back from your safari ride are so very appreciated. Every meal was delicious and abundant ( check out the scale when you get home) in addition to afternoon tea , Safari sundowners and appetizers and drinks before dinner. The rooms were quite large with both inside and outside seating. An outdoor and inside shower were also offered. The king size bed was made up with crisp linens and mosquito netting surrounded you at night ( though we never saw a mosquito or an insect). And the night sounds lulled you to sleep. The house keepers took great pride in their work and the room and bath reflected it. Yummy smelling soaps, shampoos and lotions were always provided. Our guide, Martin, was top notch and was a wealth of knowledge. He worked very hard to make sure we had a positive experience and made sure we were in the best photo opportunity spot. His good sense of humor made our 3 days all the more enjoyable. Previous reviews I have read commented on the insects, wildlife in camp or sand pathways. Hello Folks.... You are in the African Bush!! You chose to come experience some of the best Nature has to offer ... You chose NOT to go to Paris and walk through the Louvre! Chiefs Camp only enhances the wonderful experience of being in Africa. Thank you again to Evelyn, Mama B and the entire staff. We arrived as clients...we left as friends"
"We first visited Chiefs camp 5 years ago, for 3 nights and vowed to return, which we did in January 2015 ,for 7 nights. We were a little bit anxious that it wouldn't live up to our memory of it, but we needn't have worried. From the time we arrived we felt as if we had come home, the staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, the food was fantastic ( and just kept coming), the game viewing was second to none, and the quality of the guides was fantastic. We can't recommend this camp highly enough, and look forward to returning regularly. My only criticism is that Benson our guide taught Richard a Lion call, and he keeps practising it ! Our 3 cats are a bit confused. Richard and Joy Morris"
