Overall the reserve was great.

I wish to express my concern regarding Camp access when staying at this site. On numerous occasions passers by would simply walk or drive into the campsite without being asked for an entry permit. They use the ablutions and leave. Who is looking after the campers property when they are out hiking? When I took this issue up with reception, I was shrugged at as if to say "Dont make it my problem"

thomas foord

Our stay was wonderful. The chalet was clean and neat. We had a heater in our bedroom and an electric blanket which came in very useful as we experienced snow on the mountain tops. The reception ladies were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely weekend. We will surely come again.

Felicity Botha

The camp site at Glen Reenen was well managed and clean.

Jorgen Erik Larsen

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The ablution block and camp site was very clean and tidy. The Scenery was breath taking beautiful. And Sheppard thank you so much for assisting with our booking, will be emailing you again for bookings at other SAN parks

Robert Godley

The camp site is maintained in a neat and tidy fashion. However, the showers had a problem with water pressure. Showers only trickled making for an unpleasant experience.

Rigard Geyser

Loved it - very comfortable. will be back for a longer stay.

Sharonne Dewing

We had a most enjoyable visit. We were very pleased with the good condition of all the animals we saw. We would love to return to the park, and will probably do so at some stage again. Pity we live so far away.Thank you for a wonderful experience! Most definitely the highlight of our Christmas!

Deborah Van de Venter

I stayed for two nights over the weekend and had a lovely stay. The park is lovely and peaceful, the ablutions clean and well attended to. I would definiately plant to return sometime soon in the future.

Roger Thompson

We were there for a short visit only and utilised the facilities as overnight lodging more than anything else. We found the camp spotlessly clean and very well maintained. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We took a short game drive the one afternoon when we had time and we saw a beautiful black backed jackal with 2 adolescent pups sitting right next to the road. They allowed us to watch them for a good few minutes before they moved on. Lovely.

Overall brilliant. One of SA's best.

jp Du preez

Comfortable clean and neat with spectacular views - We chose the no electricity option but not sure if the kitchen was supposed to have electricity as the hobs and plugs in the kitchen were not working. But the water in the bathrooms were hot and showers were clean - Just from April take warm clothes for the evenings and the hikes are well marked. Wonderful trip, Would recommend to add to anyone's wishlist.

Basil Foxcroft

As always the campsite was immaculate. facilities were very clean and Staff was friendly. I'm concerned about the lone baboon and lone black backed jackal that have become very unafraid in the camp. I would HATE to see these animals destroyed because of human behaviour...so I suggest a couple of warning signs in the camp. I was thrilled to see men picking up refuse on the sides of the roads in the park.I would love to see taxis forbidden from using it as a short cut to Clarens/Bethlehem but do understand their plight. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I will definitely be back many times.

Bev Mills

Overall the reserve was great.

Olivia Dos Santos

Our stay at Glen Reenen was very good indeed and the accommodation all we could have hoped for. It was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom just needs better aeration. We would have loved staying on longer had we had time. The people in the office were very courteous and welcoming. We had no time to go game viewing sadly but the sunset on the gates and the rising full moon compensated. Thank you very much for a lovely stay. We would love to go again.

Marie-Paul Howard

The stay was fantastic - freindly staff, cosy units. For a long-term stay-over as we did (5 days), the kitchen utensils are minimal should one self-cater for 3 meals a day

Frehr Reinhold

Reception not up to standard, rondavel good, only strong smell of wood protection

Hessel Benedictus

Our Longdawel was really comfortable and cosy. All the facilities were great and we were well received. Our only problem were the noisy staff yelling to each other at the start and end of their work day. They were also gathered in a room in the carpark near us and made such a noise. Otherwise a great stay.

Chas King

Realised that the place was renovated, could have been allocated a completed one (wardrobe had no hangers and tv not clear). Is there a reason why a resident should pay park fees for every night spent? had a good time and hope to go back.

David Radebe

The experience was wonderful: the hikes; the food at the hotel; and the scenery. The only disappointment was the inside of the wardrobes were dirty, which led to the dirt ending up on our clothes.

Michael Lehloenya

We booked the camp rondavel, mentioning we were pensioners, but the first rondavel we saw had a flimsy ladder going upstairs to the bedroom. Not for the aged! Also the room had not been serviced so we were shown a second one. This was better, with a set of metal stairs to the upper level. What would we have done if the first rondavel was the ONLY one available? However we did enjoy ourselves and Golden Gate was beautiful.

Angela Mary Barker

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a super camp site but would like to offer the following constructive criticism. 1. Baboons raiding the camp sites even when the campers are present and stealing food out of tents, car boots etc is becoming a problem. They managed to get into our secured caravan tent on three occasions by first creeping under the caravan and then pulling up the tent pegs after the inner section was secured. Our fear is that one day someone will inadvertently corner one in their tent and get attacked. We strongly suggest that SAN Parks take action to curb these raids before something drastic occurs.2. Although the ablution blocks are still in excellent condition, deterioration is creeping in due to poor cleaning methods, maintenance and supervision. The central ladies bathroom regularly floods right out of the door due to poor tiling profiles. Not much you can do about that barring uplifting the tiles and starting again but having a cleaner managing the problem during peak season would help tremendously. Toilet seats were often found loose and need to be maintained regularly. Cleaning and toilet paper replenishment regularly only happened after midday much to the annoyance of some campers. The cleaners need to be issued with and instructed in the use of disinfectants when cleaning the shower cubicles and around the gents urinals. Supervision of the cleaners appears to be totally lacking. We watched as one lady spent entire days sitting in the storeroom on a plastic chair, only moving to sit outside during tea and extended lunch breaks. The general inefficiency and apathy of the cleaners was something to behold and must cost National Parks a fortune which in turn gets passed onto camping and chalet tariffs. Again a supervision issue. 3. When we arrived on 3 January the grass in the camp ground was pretty long and still hadn't been cut when we left on 11 January. This resulted in the camp site looking more than a little shoddy. 4. The cleaning staff should be instructed to clear the stream of trash on a regular basis. Some thoughtless campers have thrown their fire ashes and other rubbish into the stream which is extremely unsightly but probably most of the other trash is caused by baboons stealing shopping bags out of camp sites and dumping them after removing the contents.5. loud music and general noise should be banned and appropriate signage erected stating this. A Spionkop camp sign reads 'If you can be heard beyond the perimeter of your site you are making a noise'. Some people just don't understand the concept of keeping it down resulting in disturbing their neighbours into the night. We hope our comments are seen as constructive as we thoroughly enjoy using SAN Parks facilities and look forward to our next camp.

David Barrowman

The facilities are well maintained, managed and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The animal life and nature are just amazingly beautiful! I will recommend Glen Reenen Restcamp to any nature lover.

Lucinda Labuschagne

Had an excellent experience - family cottage with "stoep" being the highlight of the package, especially when it rains (which it did!).

Gert Postma

Our stay at Glen Reenen Rest camp site was really great, the ablutions were clean and camp site was lovely and clean as well. However it would be great if the sites were demarcated and each one had a number with its own electrical power point so that you knew were your site was as some campers tend to take up more than one site. Other than that we had a wonderful stay at Glen Reenen Rest camp and will be back again. Keep up the good work.

Barry Walker

Rondavel, shop and trails were fine. Not sufficient circular drives to get closer to view game. (When compared with Addo Elephant Park)

C.O. van der Merwe

The campsite was very nice but the toilets needed to be cleaned more often the once a day, especially the male bathrooms.

Brenda

Did not see animals, but we enjoyed the stay very much

Marietjie Viljoen

Nice park but some things need attention.maybe gate control to actual camp site..showers in ablution blocks needs curtains or something to keep spilling water all over the place...more regular cleaning of ablution blocks will be appreciated.

We stopped over in Golden Gate on our trip in the Freestate - camped very comfortably next to the river, and enjoyed a early morning walk in the hills. A great camp spot, and great walking routes.

Adriaan Louw

we camped at glen reenen during the december 2009 holidays and we enjoyed it very much. a great contributing factor was the extremely clean and well maintained bathrooms. some of the other campers complained about the road running past the camp but I can honestly say that it did not bother us at all.

Tanya Delport

We had a nice stay. Will try the log cabins on top of the mountain next time. Our bungalow was comfortable and the t.v. was a pleasant surprise. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will return again. Thank you.

The camp is neat, well maintained. Ablution facilities are neat, cleaned daily and kept in good repair (if you report the defects). We enjoyed camping next to the stream, but the baboons looting our tent was a big surprise! They are very cheeky too! The national road passing through, right next to the camp was a big downturn! You hear the loud music, long before you even see the car, occupant shouting and screaming, all hours of the night. Especially the Taxi's. The cars and trucks speed over the speedbumps, making a lot of noise, disrupting any peaceful sleep one might expect to get in a National Park. I know it does not fit in with nature, but I would suggest that the park put up walls between the road and the campsite. There is also no control on day permits, and anybody can come and go as they please through the park. This is a big concern. I would suggest a ticketing system like they have for payed parking for the through traffic. Even though, we enjoyed our time at Glen Reenen. Thanks.

Frik Grobler

The passing traffic is terrible.Passing through traffic should be stopped immediately.

Corrie Els

This place is a perfect getaway, its quite and you can really just enjoy the nature and what it gives back to you.Love the place.

C. Reyneke.

The chalet was neat and clean and we really enjoyed the DSTV and the electric blankets because it was cold!We arrived late in the afternoon and most of the surrounds were burning so we saw a lot of smoke but no animals.

Glen Reenen can compete with all the other excellent lodges we had in South Africa. The performance is very well and Glen Reenen is one of them. We liked our stay and were very satisfied with Glen Reenen: good job!!

anne joustra

Glen Rheenen camp is situated in stunning setting and staff is friendly. Unfortunately the chalets are suffering from old age and this is specially visible in kitchen and all the cupboards. These are in urgent need of upgrade to replace especially the untreated Supawood cupbourd doors. These opened via a hole in the door which you have to stick your finger through. All the previous guests seem to have had dirty hands because the hole and area around are permanently filthy with dirt ingrained into the wood. I wanted to wash my hands each time I opened a cupboard. This said, everything else was really satisfying and it was a relaxing stay.

Pieter van Tonder

We were hoping to venture out on one of the hiking trails offered, but did not manage to.The kids however did and thoroughly enjoyed the openness with amazing rock formations.A small, quiet, clean camp with beautiful scenery and enough shade. The ablutions and kitchen were impeccably clean at all times. The ground staff are friendly and especially the lady in Reception who is well-informed and willing to help.We will definitely be back in the future.

Seamus McGuigan

The facilities are great for camping - pity there are no distributed water points amongst the sites though. The reception was really friendly and accommodating and John Martins very helpful. We will be back to hike the trails.

EricMcKechnie

The camping site neat and ablution blocks is kept very clean though out the day making camping a pleasure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at Glen Reened. I would recommend it for anyone. The only criticism is that they don't wash dishes.

What a beautiful place to visit!!!We had such an amazing experience at Glen Reenen! The staff were so helpful and welcoming. We were only there for a short time unfortunately, but we made sure to take a walk along the trails at Glen Reenen...This was definitely the highlight of our trip! An absolute must-see when visiting!Other than that, our Longdawel was very cozy and well cared for. It had everything that we needed. The Camp was spotless and immaculately maintained!Overall I had a fantastic stay at Glen Reenen and will be sure to return as soon as possible!

Yes to break away from JHB is always a pleasure. The kids and some friends asked what do you do there? I said nothing is also fine with me. I went to relax. The trip went well except for the few potholes before Bethlehem. We towed an off-road trailer with a tent on top. The car lacked some power with the uphill sections but managed. We stopped at Clarens and we could see why it is so popular. We looked at a few art exhibitions and the stalls where the locals were displaying their art. We then went to Golden gate to set up camp. Some of the best spots next to the river was occupied. We chose a spot and assembled the tent. After an hour we were admiring the mountain changing colours as the sun set in the West. When the sun went down behind the mountain it became extremely cold. Luckily we went prepared. Warm clothes, sleeping bag and duvet. A warm hat would have helped. The people in the caravans probably had it a bit more comfortable. The next day we went for a walk up to the echo point. Amazing. Later we went for a drive pass the Langtoon dam. Along the route we saw 2 Buffalo. Where were the rest we all asked. In the Kruger you see many of them. We then went to the Golden gate hotel. A bit on the quiet side but very nice. Later we went to the camp to start a fire and to braai something. 4 bikers arrived in the dark and starting putting up their small tents. They made a fire for heat and to braai something. The next morning I spoke to one guy and he said they drove down from JHB to Golden Gate all along the dirt roads and headed back the next day. Like the Wild hogs. Many guys would like to do it. We saw however many bikers that weekend who are probably in the high income bracket, looking at their machinery. We came back and said we will go again but after the rainy season when the mountains are green. The only negative we have was the traffic and speed bumps passing the camp site, especially at night. The ablution blocks were very clean. Thanks Die Fourie

Danie Fourie

The hotwater at the ablution facilities are the hottest we have experienced in any camp in SA.The ablution was kept spotlessly clean. The receptionist could aquire a bit of friendlism and smile now and then. The park has tarred road and although there were some veldfires the scenes are still breathtaking. We enjoyed our stay and would like to visit again.

Authentic luxury hut with thatched roof. Looked small from the outside, but was very spacious inside. Open planned with fully equipped kitchen, and large flat screen tv with dstv. The hut also had a small private patio with bbq facilities. Glen Reenen is probably seen as the main camp, situated on the same plot as main reception and the local shop.Cross over the road from the camp, and you're onto a walking trail - ideal!

Caroline

We stayed in all Golden Gates accommodation (with the exception of Basotho Cultural village which was under construction at the time after a fire). Glen Reenen is the central hub in Golden Gateand where you report to to stay in all the other rest camps as well. The camp is beautiful, situated across from a mountain over the road. A petrol station and shop make the stay very convenient. One can walk some really pretty trails which vary in intensity and offer magnificient views of the surroundings. The bungalows we stayed in had DSTV, a fully equipped kitchen and made for an immensely enjoyable stay. The small town of Clarens is nearby and makes for a great place to grab some lunch or dinner. There are lots of quaint little shops to check out as well.

I think the price is overrated for what we've been offer at the campsite. There nothing to do for the kids. And you must include your conservation fees into the price as it is also too much for adults / children. It was really boring and your cafe prices are overrated. We must ride to Bethlehem to get our stuff and food. Sorry but I expected more for the price.

Adele Potgieter

Campsite very clean.Washrooms and kitchen very clean and everything working. All staff, reception, shop, campsite very friendly, polite and helpful.Only problem was the big trucks going through in the middle of the night.Had dinner at the hotel one night, the quality of the food was excellent, and the staff there were also very well trained and professional.Looking forward to returning in the future.

Carpets or floor mats will warm the place especially in winter. Bathroom very cold, maybe a wall heater or two. Not fair to charge sleep over clients conservation fee if they do not use the viewing facilities.

The front desk welcome was shocking, to say the least. Two of the ladies kept us waiting whilst they were busy on the telephone to prospective clients with on-one else around to assist. Eventually, )what seemed to be a more senior lady) someone attended to us, but then sent us to our rondawel without a key to get in. The rondawel was badly placed, the front door hinge was stuck and the doors could not open fully, the window blind was broken on one of the windows. So, we were immediately upgraded and sent to a wonderful cottage at Brandwag. This was bright, cheerful, had wonderful views, and made the unpleasant initial experience, that much more worthwhile. This is our second stay at Golden Gate, the first was a camping experience approximately 3 years ago, which, despite the rain in December, was very pleasant and far too short. The shop could do with more day to day things (such as newspapers/magazines), instead of the usual curios, t-shirts and touristy things. One of the rondawels could be used for the more touristy things, and keep the shop to basic necessities, especially for the campers. The nearest town, Clarens is 17 kilometres away and when on holiday, one does not want to have to drive there each day for a newspaper, for example. Overall, we will return to Golden Gate, despite the unpleasant welcome (unfortunately, this is just how things are in SA today) because we find the distance from Johannesburg just perfect for a short break to get good clean air, a change of scenery and some rest.

Went for the hiking, did not visit the game reserve. Hiking was nice, short routes to accommodate most people. Long walks available.Rondavel: Average, can be better if space is supplied for groceries. Suggestion - Something against the wall above stove. Electric blankets a winner in winter. Will go again, thanks!

Our stay at Glen Reenen, Golden Gate was absolutely wonderful, and to top everything we had snow on the Saturday as well. It was beautiful. If you cannot talk to the Lord while staying there, being in the nature, there must be something terribly wrong.

The unit was small, dirty and unkempt. I was horrified and the idea to pack up and leave was an option. This is not something you can offer South African residents never mind show this to international tourists.

I was disappointed in the service we received.when we arrived the farm house was still being cleaned and curtains being hung up at 2pm! There was no bottle opener. The worst was there was no hot water! Surely these things should have been checked before guests arrive?! The next day the geyser was replaced only to have all the water pouring into the lounge soaking everything! Thank goodness for the view and tranquillity otherwise we would have left!

Candice White

The lighting was really bad - just a couple of dim ceiling lights. Would be really nice to have some lamps around the sitting room. The work surfaces in the kitchen were not properly sealed, the hardboard had soaked up water and were really tired. There were no bin liners or washing up cloths.

We really enjoyed our stay at Glen Reenen at Golden Gates. Our accommodation was very comfortable, neat and clean. The staff at reception were outstanding and very friendly as were the staff in the shop. The golden gate national park is breathtaking and definitely worth a visit.

The Golden Gate area is beautiful, the mountains soared high above the small isolated and somewhat bare and exposed camp site. The little stream was so picturesque but made it extremely cold at night. Upon our arrival, we were told that we had not paid the full amount for our stay and that we had to pay another R 200.00. (We had made the credit payment prior to leaving, and we had paid what was requested.) When we queried this, the unfriendly receptionist blamed the "agents" for not collecting the full amount, muttering under her breath that they (the agents)always did this. As if to drive the point home she said "this happened often" and that "they" only wanted the commission and expected the resort staff to sort out the mess. This makes a caravan stay of 4 days R 820.00? At R 205.00 per day, did we get what we wanted? The ablution block was old and dated, but clean. There was plenty of hot water to shower or bath.Wednesday night we decided to eat at the local hotel and restaurant, this was a so-called buffet, at R145.00 per person. We felt that the "waiters" were remote and uninvolved but the setting was wonderful and the food tasty. There was a spring roll starter with salads, a main of lamb stew and chicken, rice, potatoes and vegetables, and great strawberry cheese cake and chocolate cake for pudding. Coffee and tea rounded of a nice "boere" dinner. It was bitterly cold and on Thursday night and we experienced gale force winds that will unnerve most "old caravaners". So go prepared! The local shop was a rip-off with wood costing R 25.00 a bag, so take your own wood! The walk/hiking routes were well marked out (most of them in a state of disrepair and requiring attention) and mid-day walks were very enjoyable.Be careful of the male baboons who come into the camp site in search of food and are not afraid to go into the tents and caravans. Clarens was great and the Artist Cafe was friendly and had great food.We enjoyed the weekend although we felt that it was over-priced (caravan). Will we go again in winter? No, and most likely not back to Glen Reneen.

The camp site was rustic but well kept. Electrical connections need to be maintained. A lovely weekend only spoilt by an authoritative ranger telling us that we were not allowed to picnic off the trail path (some 20 yards away, on a flat rock platform over the river). This made me think we were in Australia!

Mark Zartmann

Great weekend. Staff were friendly and acomodating

Jacobus Johannes Veldman

Everything was neat and clean - fantastic. Loved the heaters being on on arrival (after dark)

Adri Gerber

Thanks we enjoyed it staying over. You will definitely see us next year, May 2013. We would like to try to book for one of your lodges.

Thanks, it was a great weekend. The beauty of nature was incredible. We enjoyed our stay at Glen Reenen and think the service was very very good. And good value for money.Keep up the good work.

Early autumn in Golden Gate is spectacular - unique geology highlighted by the fall foilage! Wonderful hiking and pleasant, well maintained accommodation.

Walks were well co-ordinated and enjoyable. A harness belt needs to be attached to the chain that leads to the top of Brandwag Butress walk.4-6 belts should be left on the chain at all times for hikers.

Thanks it was all in order at Glen Reenen Rest Camp. The ablution was not cleaned as much as we would have liked. Thanks we will visit the park again in future.

We spent a few days over Easter and the accommodations were comfortable, the highlight was the roaring log fire from 5pm - with rain on the roof and the chill of Autumn. Great walks for me and climbs for my son and daughter in law, we were all content with our few days out of the city and returned refreshed and revitalised. The surrounding mountains and cliffs are truly special and the one night that we had a clear sparkling sky was memorable.

I stayed in a family cottage at Golden Gate Highlands National Park. It was a short overnight stay and we did not have time to view game, but the facilities at Glen Reenen was superb. I will consider Golden gate again in future - for a longer stay.

My stay in Glen Rheenen was great, check-in was efficient and friendly. Camp site was very full, although understandable. Ablutions was great and very neat. I will definitely stay there again.

We had a very pleasant stay, nice accommodation, very friendly and helpful staff. The family cottage was homely furnished but the kitchen could do with a few large bowls/salad bowls. We recommend Glen Reenen to family and friends.

The trip was great and the cottage was good, just a few utensils were missing and we had to ask for them. Also you should please some plastic topping on the counter tops which will stop the wood from rotting and rising. Found the Toaster did not work, so just these little things that need to be sorted out. Otherwise it was great and it was clean. Will definitely go there again.

Upgrading of ablution blocks is excellent, compares with 4-star parks (but what about glass shower doors?). What about levelling, demarcated stands? Each stand should also have its own braai. During Easter 2009 I observed that people made fires on 3 different places on the same stand which had no braai facility. Take a tip from ATKV Natalia for upgrading of stands. Excellent views from camping site.

The experience was nothing short of awesome!! The campsite is beautifully situated, bathrooms, kitchen always clean. Will definitely go back.

We found the accommodation very comfortable, and all of the staff very helpful. Walks in the surrounding areas were well marked, although some wooden steps had collapsed. (Buttress)

It was a very good experience staying in Glen Reenen Rest Camp in the mountains. I enjoyed the nature and its vegetation high in the mountains. We visited the Basotho Cultural Village, Phuthaditshaba and University of Orange Freestate.

When we arrived, the electric blanket in my bed had been turned on. What super service! There were 7 of us in 2 of the fabulous family units - it did not matter that the braai was disturbed by clouds settling all around us. We lit a lovely log fire in the fireplace in the lounge and had a wonderful evening. The units are alsolutely great and worth every cent!

Beautiful scenery.Glen Reenen Rest Camp - well kept stands and clean scullery. Neat bathrooms.Parks board staff - very helpful, both at Glen Reenen, gates and hotel. We will be back!

Tina Hitge

When showering , lots of water splashes into the area for changing your clothes. Suggest shower curtains be fitted to prevent this.Ablutions were always clean , except for excessive water in shower cubicles.

DJ Green

Thank you for a wonderful time. excellent bathroom facilities and always clean.will definitely visit again. staff was friendly and helpful.

Golden Gate is one of the best family holidays one can get. Lovely walks every day with the most amazing mountains. Camping completed the experience for us. Thanks Golden Gate for a great experience. Hilana.

We camped at Glen Reenen and it was raining a lot, so it was very muddy, but it was very beautiful. The ablution blocks was really neat and clean and we enjoyed camping there. Thank you.

We did not use this rondawel as much. We steal and borrowed from it to fill the other one though! We did ask the assistant of the staff twice and once they did not respond at all and the other time the assistance came three hours later when we had solved the problem ourselves already by other means.

Juan McAlpine

I think that when someone goes through the trouble of writing a comment it means that there is something to say. that leaves a bit of a bios, but still here goes. I was not happy with the overall state of utensils at both the rondavels. There was not the allotted amount of glasses and cutlery and they were unpaired. It might help doing a spot check from time to time and make sure that all is well. do not leave it to the staff to run the camp all on their own. Just because there is a glass does not mean that it is the right glass. Go through a bit of trouble and but then in pairs together. the braai is rusty and needs repair. Sink tap was leaking. All else was fine thanx.

Juan McAlpine

Reasonable prices, spacious camping sites, lovely walks, impressive sandstone mountains. Are there descriptions and possible explanations of the geology available? I have read that marine fossils were found in the sandstone, contradicting the idea that the rocks were formed from desert sand. Where can more info on this be found?

As per normal we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glen Reenen. I would like to take this opportunity to complement the reception staff for their efficient service and friendliness during check in.

G Wortmann

We have been camping for about 3 years and this is the most beautiful place I have ever camped. The mountains, sunset, sunrise and general nature is unbelievable! The camp was clean and well managed. We were there for a long weekend, but another 3 days would have been welcome. It is close to Clarens and Fouriesburg, which in itself are also unique experiences.

Helana Ueckermann

Pleasant and peaceful.

We had a great time at the Glen Reenen Rest Camp. The facilities were excellent, very clean. The park looked amazing. The only thing that was not ideal was that you could hear the traffic from the camp site. Otherwise, we had a great time. Thank you!!

Amelia Norden

Fantastic, enjoyed our stay very much, thankyou.

Hendrik Schutte

Fantastic, enjoyed our stay very much, thankyou.

The campsite was in a very good condition with ablutions very clean and tidy (cleaned every day). Going for a walk in the park was not possible in some parts as plants had over grown too much (echo caves) and paths needed some maintenance? Although a park official did check our booking on Sunday mid-morning, we noticed a few people pull in and not have any permits so security and revenue for the park is a concern.Wonderful stay and would definitely recommend.

Anne Coret

Dit was deur en deur die moeite werd, die kampplek was netjies die voetslaan pad was baie nice. Die perfekte romantiese naweek getaway. GREAT GREAT GREAT

Karen Mackenzie

The Park was breathtakingly beautiful. That said however, I do not think that Glen Reenen caravan park even get close to industry leaders. The stands turn to a marsh when it rains and some power points do not work. When you shower everything gets wet (I hate a shower curtain but no one at all is a problem) Some stands is difficult to get into. The stands with a small cement slab does not help. Industry leaders have larger, paved stands. Shower doors, a tap for every stand (or couple of stands) as well as braai, dustbin and proper swimming pool (most heated). Is Glen Reenen value? I think not! Specially when the park-fee is added. When designing a caravan park talk to caravanners.

JJ Cloete

Only 3.5 hours from home what a place, fresh air and open nature. Had a stunning rest and will return as soon as possible. A sundays road bikers heaven. They were considerate and not to noisy, a pleasure to see around.Thank you for saving such a stunning place.

Peter Bouwer

Due to work commitments I could not go. Although I called to indicate it, I was told that I would lose everything and it cannot be moved to a later date. I believe that is really bad and I would rather in future not reserve and risk losing everything

Leon Kritzinger

We had a wonderful stay, however more thanks to the beautiful scenery than to the actual camp facilities. We stayed for 2

An excellant stay

Thank you very much for the lovely accommodation. It was really nice to break away from the city to a picturesque setting. Even though the decor is quite old and one of the couches in the cottage was slightly broken, it was really good value for money. The accommodation is equiped with everything you need and is very neat and clean. We had a lovely stay with lots to do, as we could go hiking and swimming! Thanks againNienke

We overnight Jan 2012 first at the Basotho Cultural Village Restcamp - it was n wonderful experience, the accommodation was something special and well equipped en well maintained - the guided tour to the museum is a must. The second night we stayed at Glen Reenen that was more expensive than the Cultural Camp and it was like "chalk and cheese" - the standard was not the same - The braai need to be replaced as the coals just fall through the holes (and can be a fire problem in a strong wind), the shower spray more water in the roof than down, missing cutlery and crockery, dead globes and no coffee/tea.On a positive note it was n pleasure to be helped at Reception by friendly and very helpful ladies in Afrikaans.

We camped at the Glen Reenen Rest Camp and found the facilities there above average. Ablution blocks were very clean as well as the wash up area which included two two plate cookers which are not normally found in camp sites. We felt very safe as the camp site was patrolled by a security guard at night. The walks were well marked and very interesting as well. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. We had a very relaxing holiday and would definately recommend the place to other campers.

Die kampterrein is baie mooi. Lekker groot staanplekke.
