Guest Reviews for Lower Sabie Restcamp
Come and experience the wildlife and wilderness that makes Africa such a special place - the memories made on safari will stay with you forever!
It was great.
It was lovely staying in the Kruger Park. Will most likely do it again.
Loved the view from the restaurant here. The campground was well-kept and nice.
This was a great rest camp. Family all loved it!
Despite the rainy weather, our stay was enjoyable and cozy.
Very nice camp, the only negative comment was the stove didn't work, it tripped the electricity.
Super camp, very friendly and helpful staff.
Very nice - beautiful setting with river in front of the tent!! Very comfortable with everything needed.
excellent--5.
What an amazing experience we had at Lower Sabie Rest Camp and the entire stay at the Park. Thank you for your friendliness and superb facilities.
Magic, magnificent!!!! The pleasure of eyes both for the landscapes and for the animals
Interesting bungalow! Very neat and clean.
At Lower Sabie we did not like the family bungalow, right in the middle of the camp and plenty of dust around.
We absolutely love Lower Sabie and our guest house was outstanding in location and quality. Can't wait to come back!
Accommodation was really nice and clean, linen was clean.
Staying at Lower Sabie was outstanding, very clean, excellent cleaning service. Would like to stay there again.
Had the most beautiful stay, but there was not much to see, what happened to the animals, didn't see the rhino, the lion all the huge big , the only thing I saw was the elephant
This was our second visit to the Krugar Park and hopefully not our last. The accommodation was very good and in a great location and the rest camp facilities are excellent. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed the stay at Lower Sabie Camp very much, and had a wonderful time in the Kruger Park
Guided walks and nights drives were great and set the tone for our Kruger getaway. Learnt a great deal on the walk. Travis and Pietrus were brilliant. Facilities were clean and staff friendly. Lower Sabie is a fantastic camp.. although wish Mugg & Bean wasn't the official restaurant - as it's too commercial. But the staff were fabulous and what a view from the deck!
Helpful and very friendly staff. The bungalow was excellently located on the perimeter. A vey good visit even though there is a very severe drought.
Kitchen needs new cupoards and the whole place feels old and shabby. Staff friendly and efficient.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lower Sabie.
lucky enough to get a bungalow with a view. Bungalow could have used some better maintenance (comment valid for all camps. The cleaning is good, but the facilities are well used and sometimes a bit decrepit)
Comfortable better cooking facility. Good beds nice clean bathroom. Would choose river tents next time look out not as pretty as talboti camp. But enjoyed our stay
We visited KNP in January and it was awesome. Chalet was clean and equiped with everything necessary. Home away from home. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back soon.
.I am an experienced and well traveled Kruger park visitor. However, what I experienced now at Lower Sabie changed my family's lives. Camped with my "boswa" close to nature at very affordable rates. Holiday traffic was just over and all visitors and staff went out of their way to make our visit special - reflecting respect for each other. Gained another few years in my live expectancy. Want to mention game warden Craig and camp employee Eckson specially. In sweltering heat and with hard ground for the tent pegs Eckson came out of his own accord and assisted these 3 "old timers" . On the morning of our exit we had a flat tyre. Again he came to our assistance and removed the tyre and went and fixed it and brought it back to us repaired - always a friendly smile. The passion and love that Craig has for his work is contagious and can be seen in all the people around him. From trying to rescue a snared wild dog - to prosecuting some irresponsible guys who drove directly into the bush way off the road to have a closer view of lions - to the way he treat people with respect and assist- making time for everyone - it is what the Kruger is for me all about. We had fantastic viewing of a wide variety of animals in the near vicinity of Lower Sabie. Needless to say - everything that we need and want to live and experience can be done from Lower Sabie and that will be our basis for all future visits. Already planning to bring my children and grand children with us for next visit. Thanks again.
Good.
Just want to say thank you to everybody. There was no problems when we booked in and everything went smoothly. Thank you to the Kruger Team for a great experience, regards.
Thank you it was fantastic.
We loved this camp site and will definitely be returning. Everything was well looked after, bathrooms were clean and the views of the river were a real treat.Thank you to everyone that is involved in making our stay so pleasant.
Accommodation clean neat and well kept. Camp well run and maintained. Night drive excellent. Thank you very much.
Very nice
We enjoyed our stay in Lower Sabie very much. Your staff all over the Park should be commended for their friendly and helpful service. We do feel that some maintenance work is needed in your ablutions in the camping area however. We will visit the park again. Thank you for a pleasurable stay.
Excellent.
We are very satisfied. We like the Kruger Park. The Low Sabie Restcamp is located at a very nice place in the Park.
Excellent value for money.
Calm atmosphere. Central to loads of roads to travel. Not a lot of natural shade in camp site.
We loved this place.
Like the upgrade of units. Very nice to stay. Facilities on camp in good condition.
Just perfect..love it â¥
Excellent venue and facilities.
We loved staying at Lower Sabie!!! Will definitely come back again!
I love this place, because it's peaceful, calm. The day we can drive to see animals and the evening it's very calm, no noise. Perfect.
Was an excellent stay. We enjoyed it very much. Chalet was neatly and clean. Well done!!
Lovely camp. Lovely chalets. Was a delight. We can be proud of the park.
Ablutions were clean and the unit was very comfortable. they really supply everything you need.
The unit is situated with the most amazing view. The unit itself is a quite tired, but it looks as if Lower Sabie is re-doing its tented camp. I would highly recommend getting a unit on the fence line as you can see so many animal from it - Elephant playing in the water, leopard lazing in the sun, buffalo and those are the highlights.
it was a pleasure to visit the park! Under Sabie camp was very good as was all the camps we visited as day visitors. the accommodation was very good and the staff is fantastic! the only problem if had is that we did not have hot water in the evenings, or for that matter after 11 in the mornings!
Service at reception was excellent, Camp at the tents was clean and beautiful. Loved it!!
Had a fabulous time. It was good to see the continued significant improvements being made on a continuous basis in the chalets. We went on a sundown game drive with San Parks, and saw 2 lions, 2 leopards, 2 genets, 1 civet, a rhino and others. The Mugg & Bean restaurant coped admirably well with the volume of people requiring food. Well done!
A brilliantly experience affording a unique opportunity to enjoy nature in all its splendor. A must visit on any trip to the Kruger National Park.
Lower Sabie is a great camp. We stayed in the Safari Tents and enjoyed every moment. Staff and facilities are the best.
Camp was outstanding, very clean, would like to stay there again.
Very basic, better than a tent. everything was clean. Camp quiet after 21H00. Not my type of over-night, but had no other option.
We enjoy our time fully in the Camp as well as the park just very upset about the closure of Afsaal picnic spot as we do make it one of our spot to visit in the Park otherwise we enjoyed the visit in the park.
First time in this camp and our next trip will definitely stay over in Lower Sabie. I loved the accommodation and its at the river. So peaceful and clean and everything we wanted. Thanks so much for making our six days stay in the different camps so relaxing.
Lovely tented camp, clean and comfortable. Nice to have a Mugg & Bean.
A favourite camp of mine, the game is always plentiful around Lower Sabie.
Enjoyed this camp very much. Good sightings, including Big 5.
We enjoyed every moment.
I was really impressed with the camp. From accommodation to restaurant to all facilities. All areas were well looked after and the room cleaning service was excellent as well.
We loved it here. The staff was always friendly.
We had a wonderful stay at the camp, the staff was excellent! We are all very grateful to Rofhiwa at reception, the cleaning ladies, Travis, Dingaan, Prince and another gentlemen from Mug and Bean for organising and outstanding bush braai for our group! Excellent service and excellent experience! Thank you!
Always enjoy staying at Lower Sabie because of its proximity to the river. The camp is clean and well maintained and the personnel friendly and helpful.
Have been visiting the Park for many years but have not stayed in one of your camps for maybe 30 years. Loved your safari tents at Lower Sabie. We will return soon. Regards I K Collie
Very nice setting. Will come again.
Beautiful camp will definitely return here.
My husband & I always enjoy our stays in KNP, we have always maintained that Lower Sabie is the best camp, even more so now that they have Mug & Bean!!! So nice and clean and well run. Many thanks to ALL the staff of Lower Sabie, Mug & Bean and in fact all of the KNP staff. See you all again on 24th July, take care.
We paid & booked FU5 family bungalow. We were given Bungalo 1 with no explanation. It was dirty, full of wasps and the grass had not been cut, No1 is not even marked on the map. The spare room had 2 beds that you could not open the cupboard or close the door. When I complained they gave me the Eish. Heard from one staff member there where rats in FU5. After tracking down the duty manager and inspecting FU5 the vermon where quirrels. So after fixing the aircons we moved in. We will never go back to Lower Sabie again. If you want pictures of the outside of 1&2 I will send them.
Nice stay. Very dissapionted in the bathrooms
We had a wonderful time and our safari tent was perfect. We will return thank you
Wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Next time I would like one of the units on the river. Thanks so much. Brilliant.
Hey, thank you very much it was very nice thanks for making it so easy to book and for all the help tanya lomas you were very helpful and friendly.
What a lovely camp. We had a beautiful tent with a great river view and then a weaver bird spent 2 days building a nest just in font of us. Just an idyllic place.
Excellent camp for viewing game which is in abundance close to the camp. Accommodation was excellent. Ablution facility is however not to the same standard as what was available at Pretoriuskop Restcamp
Excellent!
All staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent facilities. Booking through Kruger.com was bliss. Thank you
The staff were efficient and helpful on arrival, which made a great first impression. We appreciated having the Mugg & Bean available for meals, and were impressed with the quality of service received. The only downside to the trip was the lack of cleanliness in the Lower Sabie toilets and showers - not terrible, but could be better. Good trip overall though.
Was great!
Very nice.
Nice camp with a good atmosphere. The swimming pool was not very clean
Was looking for a place to put my caravan closer to the bush or river with no power point and closer to a bush experience , little bit away from the sound of traffic, like where those bush tents are. but we enjoyed it, and the friendly people just made our stay so worthwhile.
Our stay at Lower Sabie was most enjoyable. We can't fault this restcamp in any way. Our bungalow was comfortable (N89) and everything worked. On the whole a 5 for Lower Sabie. A small criticism - We found the River Front and deck area dominated by the restaurant ( M&B). We feel that this arrangement restricts access to the most favourable spot at the camp.
Absolutely LOVED the tent camp. Couldn't have had a better place to stay. Really enjoyed guide Griselda on our sunset drive.
Dear madam ,sir, Me and husband realy enjoyed our trip in the park, and it is a first time that we saw the big amount of game. Unfortunately we didn't see the cat families. I just wish to tel you where we needed any assistance everyone was very friendly and helped us. Thankyou for a lovely time in the park. Mrs RE Venter
Always enjoy Kruger but the standard of the camps and roads are not what they were and are in a worse condition every time I visit Kruger.
On very short notice we were able to take family visiting from the UK for a very exciting and enjoy able midweek break. Thanks for an excellent booking serves.
Food is expensive
Good day We had a very good time in the park. We enjoyed the drives daily. The quietness in the park and the fact that you can really unwind when you are in the park is magic. We had a good rest and its always sad when it is time to go home. We have been visitors for many years in the Park and every time it is an amazing experience. We have been to Letaba, Satara, Pretoriuskop, Berg and Dal and the camps are kept clean and are well looked after. However which was disappointing is the fact that the one bathroom (small one), was quite neglected in Lower Sabie. We however did see that renovations was happening. Another concern was the overall look of the camp in Lower Sabie. The grass was tall and the garden was not well looked after. What we also missed, in the past we could go and sit on the Deck which overlooked the Sabie River, but with âMug and Beanâ now the new franchise, you can no longer just visit without needing to order something. I really miss that. Have a wonderful day and see you soon
Loved it
Bungalow was new so it was great. The camp site was untidy. Restaurant good.
Top stuff.
Overall our accommodation was very good and comfortable. The SANParks staff were most efficient. A little problem was that our veranda was a favourite spot for bats. Insecticide has been hung under the eaves to deter them. The camp manager, Mr Ramutsi was most understanding and concerned when I reported this, and assured me that he was pressing on to rid all the chalets of bats. Their efforts had been 90% successful and we were just unfortunate to have some on our veranda. However, we sat further out and avoided their droppings.
First time we have stayed in tents at Lower Sabie, we stayed in one that hadn't been renovated. Not too bad for a unit that is quite old. What I would like to see most is a more comfortable chair on the deck.
We stayed In Lower Sabie at the start of the trip in the Kruger National Park, and was a great experience. The chalets are very comfortable, the staff are incredible and helpful. We were really impressed since we left behind our Ipad by mistake and just realised about it at the end of that day when we arrived, we called reception to explained the situation and after half an hour they located the item for us. We arranged to pick it up on our way out from the park, and when we did that the Ipad was waiting for us in a perfect condition. Thank you so much!
Best value for money by far.
Had such an awesome trip - just sorry we could not stay another night as Lower Sabie was fully booked. Really special !!
We only stayed one night in this camp but I can really recommend staying longer. The house was really nice and clean, good braai area and nice hot shower. Also the park facilities were good, restaurant / shop. Plus we saw lots of animals (also big 5) in the area.
The self catering unit we had was very nice. Clean and comfortable.
Wonderful camp. Enjoyed our stay.
We were pleasantly surprised with the chalet. It was clean and well equipped. Serviced every day. We had a wonderful stay.
No problems, was very nice.
We had a great trip (as always). The stay in Lower Sabie was great. The shop though did not have we were looking for. Ablutions were clean. Overall, wonderful!
Great sunset drive at Lower Sabie, saw 2 cheetah, buffalos, elephants, hyenas and hedgehogs. Nice little safari tent overlooking the river, nicely equiped, would visit lower sabie again, thanks!
Our stay in the park was magnificent - the Lower Sabie camp is exceptional value for money with excellent service.
great great
The bungalow was extremely spacious and comfortable. Everything was in good order. The kitchen was a contrast with the Satara camp that offered only outside kitchen. This one was indoors and fully equipped, with table and chairs. The treat was the huge terrace overlooking the river, that animals used to visit early morning and at night. The camp restaurant (Mug & Beans) offered delicious food and a spectacular view over the river. Lower Sabie is definitely a place to return to!
Staff fine, camp facilities ok, no complaints

A lovely camp with great game viewing. We had an excellent morning game drive ....the guide Travis was very good. Like the new Mugg and Bean.
Enjoyable, with no hitches! Booking was efficient, and all documents in order. Sightings were good, and camps comfortable
Had a lovely stay, always enjoy the Kruger, can't get enough. The M&B are a big improvement!
I had a good trip and stayed at the various Camping Sites. The roads both Tar and Dirt are in very poor condition from all my previous vists as thus able to make this comment, if in normal cars be aware of this especially on the Dirt Roads, I eventually stayed off them and missed a lt of viewing. The camps are getting run down, but the people are good and very helpful. I was disappointed that the camp Sites are not controlled and others take up more space that they are allocated or just used up two Sites and people were forced to miss out, others were obviously taking up two Power Points for Electricity and I had to miss out depite alsing them to unplug one Lead, rude and uncaring but them Kruger should police this aspect. There is a lot of noice in the Camps despite being asked to tone it down, Radios - Generator and boozing into the nights. Another Camping Only site had a couple with visitors and the loud attitude was not appreciated, we are there to the wild life and experice the wild night life, not some afrikaans couple shouting screaming their heads off and not caring when several others asked them quiet down.Over all a good trip despite the poor road attitude in blocking bother sides of the road when they see something of interest and others either cannot get a look in or pass them, another real difficulty.wsould I go again YES YES YES, but be aware and make some plans.
Brilliantly comfortable accommodation....nice river view. Pity the restaurant was closed for renovation.....I'm sure it will be fantastic when finished though! Will come again!!!!

Fantastic.
Baie mooi kamp om te wees .
Horrible in terms of the accommodation we used - we were in the rooms and there were building going on right in front of our room - noise the whole day long of electrical tools, loud talking etc. The mug and bean is excellent to have in the park. I doubt that I will ever choose to stay at Lower Sabie again
Wonderful restcamp, enjoyed the tents very much. Guests should be reminded to bring along padlocks to lock the fridge & grocery cages as they are located outside the tent. The restaurant is much cleaner than we experienced previously.
I was a little disappointed in the restuarant facilities but I am comparing them to a long time ago say 30 years
We had been recommended by so many people to stay at Lower Sabie instead of the other camps, and we were horribly dissapointed. The rooms were very small, only had a blanket on the bed. The staff were very unfriendly and the restaurants food was shocking.
Always good sight-seeing around this area. Camps are clean and maintained nicely. Would love a bit more variation on menus between camps. Prefer the setup of the kitchenette and braai area at the Lower Sabie rondaval than at Skukuza.
Tents can use a bit upgrading
Had a great time but would have been better later in the year as the bush was so thick that it was difficult to much more than a fewc mwters in places.
nice clean camp with lots of animal activity especially at night.
We had a lovely time in the Kruger. The hut was clean and cosy, the cleaning of the hut was really great and we liked the special care of even washing our braai.I have camped in most of the rest camps in the Kruger Park and unfortunately I have to admit that the Lower Sabie
My stay at lower sabie was excellent.I will be back again.
Lots of other cars make this an easy spotting area. Look for the cars and the animals are there. Birds, animals, trees and insects abound, roads are short and easy to select, makes for a variety of viewing.
The trip was great except, the kitchen was very basically stocked with equipment (no slotted spoon or colander, no oven), the toaster didnt work.
The Family Bungalow (FU5) was in a very poor state of repair and run down. The airconditioner was extremely noisy and barely functioned and had to be turned off during the night because of the noise. This facility is in urgent need of repair and refurbishment. We will not be staying over there in future. The rooms however were clean. Very disappointing!!
We were fortunate in that the Bungalows (Nos 103 and 104) were newly renovated and revamped. It was clean and fresh and we were happy to stay over. Unfortunately we cannot say the same for the Family Bungalow (No 61) we stayed over on 7 March (3 days later) which was well below acceptable and embarrassing. I don't know what our foreign visitors must think!
The tent was full of rat poo and dead insects. It was also dusty. You need to pay more attention to the hygiene and cleaning.
Very nice tent. Only the bathroom door could close. The termites ate the door.
To allow people into a camp where no restaurant was available was an absolute disgarace especially as there was no pre-warning. Accomodation was good but the park has let itself down badly and foreign visitors must be disgusted by the situation they were put in and will no doubt be telling all their family and friends back home how shameful it was. Not great publicity for your park.
My husband and I recently over-nighted at Lower Sabie, staying in a two bedroom (en-suite) luxury cottage overlooking the river. We were joined by two Spanish friends, first timers to Africa. The cottage was fabulous: we particularly enjoyed sitting under the stars at our own boma whilst taking in the sounds and smells of the bush and the braai. Lower Sabie has a beautiful feel to the camp - and we were treated to views of hippo, crocs and elephants in the river, and to African Fish Eagles, Pied Wagtails, Green Pigeons, Chinspot Batis(es) and other beautiful bushveld birds, from the comfort of the cottage. Our guests were entranced. We never get tired of KNP and Lower Sabie lived up to the standard we expect.Thank you.
Under refurbishment, no restaurant, very clean, excellent staff, well positioned accommodation, very pleased with everything, we thoroughly enjoyed our week there.
We found an Iguana in the bathroom We ask for help... we are still waiting
Excellent location and facilities. Refurbishment of rondavels/ cabins on-going which is good. Pity the Hall is closed indefinitely. Staff in restaurant could be more amenable and too many items "off" on menu, but outdoor eating area lovely. Nothing happening on alterations to Selati restaurant so cannot understand why it is closed.
We found it quite disturbing hearing the noise of the movie at 7.00 p.m. It really destroyed the peace!Somehow the place just felt cold and unfriendly?
Towels in bungalow are stained with blood and even have holes in..really! that is unacceptable. Further, the air-con was making such a noise we couldn't sleep for 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed there. Kept on logging complaints and only after the 4th complaint the night before we went home the manager attended to it. We visit the Kruger 3 times a year. This was unacceptable. I actually want my money back!!
As always the Kruger experience is memorable for the game, the excitement of not knowing what is round the next corner and the peacefulness of the camps. Extensive cabin refurbishment is going on which is good. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for same - a magnificent building well located. On a general note for the whole park, more could be done to train staff in the ways of dealing with international guests in a more friendly and welcoming way. Some appear disinterested as if it's only a job. It may be their way, but awareness of how service is carried out in other world attractions would help greatly. Also concerned that the new caterers wimpey and mug and bean retain the character of the food in speciality dishes and not lower standards to burgers and chips.
The tent camp was ok. Clean. Staff at reception pleasant but not particularly helpful. Bad criticism for the restaurants being closed at lower Sabie and Skukuza with no notification. We arrived at the camp late expecting to eat at the restaurant only to be told we could only buy food at the shop. We settled for very stale chicken mayo sandwiches which we could not eat, and by the time we went back for something else the shop was closed. Not a great experience
Upgraded to two Guest houses. very comfortable. Minor maintenance issues. Air conditioner faulty in one of the units
I want to strongly recommend safari.com for an amazingly well-organsied trip. The fact that your planning for us to stay in 3 different camps forced us to travel extensively through Kruger. Tents at Lower sabie without aircons were challenging.
Comfortable and affordable, although not much privacy as you are sharing a communal "boma" or braai area with about 12 other units.
I love the experience of being in Lower Sabie, which I found more welcoming and cosier than Skukuza. In addition, it is also a more productive area for animals (predators are always difficult to find).
Perimeter view cabins were fantastic.
Great camp and had the best bungalow in front of the river. Also found staff very friendly and honest...I had lost my wallet and not only was it found but somebody brought it through to us in Berg en Dal the next day! So relieved as my passport was in there! We could not thank the honest staff enough!
The restaurant area, selection to eat and service were very poor. The bungalows were very clean and comfortable. The camp itself was clean and the reception very friendly.
Accommodation was very good food at the restaurant was poor quality.
We loved the stay it was amazing the camp site the area's around there the lake sunset is so close to see just before the gates close .. will be making another trip soon ... we have become park addicts if that is the right words to use .... we have seen the big 4 just didn't manage to see a leopard or a cheetah ..... that would have been the high light of our trip ...... none the less it was worth the drive ..... !!!
Hello, unfortunatelly the camps have been worn out already. New linnen/curtains would be great. As well as whole renovation. To expensive. Not a good value for money.
Big room, nice view to the river.
It was good because it was 2 rooms with toilet and one semi-private yard with BBQ, but we didn
Very relaxing and comfortable. We really enjoyed the break and will go back to this camp next year.
This was the best camp. We stayed in the tented camp site and it was fantastic. Next time we will stay more than one night here. The lady in reception was very helpful in sorting out our game drive. Patrick our game ranger on the morning drive was great and had lots of knowledge to share with us. Thanks Patrick!
PROS: The restcamp is in a nice location with good view of the rivers. Enjoyed the nature and able to hear the birds chirping in the morning. Cons: The bungalow was rundown, in need of renovation and mosquito nets for the beds. The sheets were dirty, old and seem to be from some school trip with writing on them. Lizards and other critters are able to enter the room. The room had a funky smell and is very dirty. It is the worst accommodation I have been to. I don't need any fancy room, but something simple and clean. The dishes and pots needs to be replaced; it is in bad condition. The staffs at the front desk was unhelpful when asking questions as this is our first time visiting Kruger.
I feel the levy to pay per day is astronomical. There should be a once off entrance fee irrespective of how long your stay.
The chalets at Lower Sabie is nice and clean.
Very clean and well maintained, extremely helpful and friendly staff, great shop atmosphere, and excellent camp sites. We thoroughly enjoy Lower Sabie everytime! Things that were a problem are infrastructure maintenance and repair, crumbling roads, bathrooms need an upgrade, and the pool needs some shade and repair. We noticed some construction on the old buildings, hope all goes well and fast!
very poor. Found a rat on kitchen counter upon arrival. Although the camp was quiet we were refused alternate accommodation. Overall maintenance desperately needed!
Had trouble accessing communal kitchen/cooking facilities as a result of renovations.
All the staff in Lower Sabie were VERY friendly! The quality of the food in the restaurant is well below par. I really feel something urgently needs to be done about the poor quality of the food in the KNP restaurants (Skukuza and Lower Sabi). It is well below par in is certainly not acceptable to overseas visitors. Also why no typical South African foods such as pap and wors, marogo, bobotie, venison etc??? Could only find Bunny Chow on the menu! How disappointing.Lastly the shops are hopelessly overpriced and is a rip off. I feel that if more reasonable prices are charged with a bigger variety turnover and profitability will improve. Both in Skukuza and Lower Sabie the abovementioned aspects have spoiled an otherwise great time in the KNP. You have great people working for you, so if you can do something about the quality of the food in your restaurants and have a relook at the prices of goods in the shops the total guest experience will improve exponentially.
Best holiday in a many years. We will be back but with more family members
9th and 10 Jan 2013 very hot 44C 11, 12 AND 13 raining, drizzling and nice and cool weather. Kruger looks great, only a pity killed another few Rhinos while in park. Every body must bye the Rhino horn from CNA and display on your car. Good time, worth the money, missed out on close by lions. Cheetah with Impala in tree 2km before Kruger gate. Fish eagle with catfish on bank of Sabie river at dam, cheetah eating Impala on ground, no tree to hoist in, 2 elephants fighting in road about an hour, drove behind wild dogs in road for about 2km, 2 Rhinos, elephants and hippos fighting.
This was our third time at LS - out first time with the kids.So this time we'd booked a family cottage and we were expecting something like Satara, Orpen or Berg-en-Dal. What a disappointment. 3 small rooms with an exterior connection which overlooked a mud-caked "garden". Depressing. Check-in staff were nice but could do nothing to help as it was busy season and everything was booked. We tried very hard to find an alternate as we really wanted to leave but no luck so we had to stick it out. Too bad as it was our last two nights in KNP and the others had all been excellent. We were told there are 4 x 2 Br Family Bungalows - 2 of which are on the perimeter. We got one of the other two that are not so If you are booking avoid 61 and 66 at all costs.Re the camp in general the area along the perimiter is nice but back from that the camp just does not seem cared for - no landscaping and lots of bare earth - which gives it an overall depressing feel.Shop is nice and well run and the restaurant is wonderful with a fantastic view. Decent food and OK service if a bit slow.
Staff very friendly. camp neat and clean.. Really enjoyed our stay.
We had a very good tent no 16 against the fence, was visited by hyienas, but the tent needs maintenance, ripped and patched, leaking when raining, otherwise good.
Very nice place to stay. A great sunset safari.
Had a fantastic trip, thank you. Particularly enjoyed the safari tent in Lower Sabie. Many thanks,Kevin
The ablution facilities are is desperate need of an upgrade. Toilets just ran wasting loads of water. Shower water does not run away, just sits in base of shower - very unhygienic. Paint peeling off the walls badly. Accommodation was adequate but main light in room flicked No 55.
Tents are a little tired, awnings in front were torn. Complaint regarding faulty lights on deck disregarded twice. Maintenance is exceptionally poor. Staff extremely friendly and honest, found my wallet with over R1000 in it. We were notified of this on arrival at our next camp and the wallet was kept for me until I was able to collect one and half weeks later, with nothing missing. If the safari tents were kept well maintained, they would be a pleasure to stay in.
Really enjoyed our time there. Few problems, camp flooded on new years eve, no proper draining sites:( very sad new years. Two days into our stay the pool had a terrible smell. Some of the braai units were broken. Communal toilets may need more regular cleaning, seemed to be not clean most of the time. The staff were fantastic and so friendly. Had a lovely time
Thank you so much, it was very nice thanks, we will be back in the park from the 3rd - 6th of Feb. Regards Migael
We have complete our 20th consecetive visit in Desember to KNP, and with all the game and btuful wheater,House keeping is good and up to standard, slow somedays 12pm to complete room service.(Enjoy daybreak from 10h30)if possible.

We were in the Park for a relative short time but it was worth all the effort. The lady who assisted me with the booking, Carien du Plessis was very helpful, the ranger who took us for the game drive, I think her name was Martie, was very professional, in fact she made the visit. The restaurant experience after the game drive was not good, may be next time I will take the visitors to eat before the game drive. It was a really good experience as usual.
I found the braai very close to the thatch roof. Might be fire hazard. Don't know if all bungalows are the same
Units 80,81 and 82 where the best units I have ever received in Lower Sabie. Marty, our game drive ranger was excellent.
We are a family with older children and enjoyed our stay in Lower Sabie, where we had 2 adjoining bungalows. We were lucky to see four of the Big Five animals in the first couple hours of our drive into the park. Maybe, it was the time of the day (we drove in before dusk when the animals came to the water holes before gearing up for the night. But, after that, we had no luck with the "Sunset Tour" and the "Morning Walk" that we signed up for. We did not see or hear anything to write home about. Some hiccups on the trip:1. Getting to our camp from Nelspruit Airport was expensive, if you do not rent a car.2. No plug point in the bungalow/s to recharge cameras and other equipment. We were left with scanty resources on the last day.
Very much enjoyable site seeing, clean housing and services and friendly people!! Thank you for a great visit!!
Had trouble accessing communal kitchen/cooking facilities as a result of renovations.
Our safari tents were the treat of a life time. Comfortable in every way. Could hardly see the fence between us and the river and as a result almost felt amongst and part of the wildlife scenes playing out in front of us. Night time was noisy but not being able to sleep because of the social life of wild animals while we were safely in our tents was a wonderful experience too. What a treat!
Good, Good, Good, Good, see you next year!!
We had such a lovely time in Kruger Park, saw lots of animals.Thank you!
Excellent stay, friendly and helpful staff; definitely a favourite camp.
Lower Sabie is going a bit down hill, needs some maintenance, but the ablution facilities were clean and the hut was clean. We can't complain.Unfortunately a Leopard got into the camp on one of our nights and it had to be shot - which is terrible. I would like the camps to be equipped with darting equipment so that this kind of thing doesn
Excellent game viewings, need improvement on the night game drives (Game drives flash lights went flat). Staff general attitude.
Why is the park so expensive? This is for our children and children to come. We as the normal SA consumer find it more difficult to visit our own parks...
The most fantastic was the seven lions relaxing in a tree!
When you stay at night and use the restaurant, the variaty of food was in our period (end of november)minor. Another item is when you stay at several camps they offer almost all the same but at Lower Sabi we had the worst dinner ever.beside this experience, the bush and park is in this area great.
The first night it was pouring with rain and we struggled finding a single open campsite for us to stay at, so we were upgraded at no aditional cost to a lovely bungalowe , which was right on the lower sabie river. I was very impressed with that ,and it was so comforting to know i wasnt gonna have to pitch tent in the down pour . The rest of the weekend i thoroughly enjoyed but wouldve liked to have seen a few of the cats atleast.will definately camp again soon, just a bit dissapointed that the power point plugs only cater for those with caravans.
Had a fantastic trip, thank you. Particularly enjoyed the safari tent in Lower Sabie. Many thanks,Kevin

We are regular visitors at Kruger Park but normally camp. This weekend away in bungalow was really nice (not so many things to pack as when camping). Lower Sabie & Berg en Dal are our favourite camps.
Usually my favourite camp, but facilities on bungalow disappointing. Only one plate on stove working. Monkeys very intrusive. Should be better controlled. All restaurant services in camps visited not up to standard.
I'd like to comment on various observations, not just on Lower Sabie. My husband and I stayed in safari tent 27 at Lower Sabie. Our overseas guests stayed in number 28. Their tent was in much better condition, which is why we elected to give that one to them. The only non-optimum thing about that tent was a rather noisy ceiling fan (if it was switched on to a speed that was high enough to be effective). Our tent (27) needs attention because it has a leak in the area in front of the clothing cupboard. It rained quite hard during the night and there was a puddle in that area in the morning. The ceiling fan was extremely noisy, but a standard fan was installed so we used that. I was surprised to find that the kitchen area was totally exposed, seeing as this is a malaria area... I personally would have preferred it to be enclosed with some netting, seeing as one is always in that space in the early morning or after dark, when the mosquitoes are most active. My bedside light wasn't working. Otherwise, all was fine in the tent. We went to the restaurant for dinner and found the food to be extremely unimaginative. We all ordered chicken schnitzel because NOTHING else looked remotely interesting and it was nicely prepared but served only with uninteresting chips - no veg, no salad. I REALLY believe this is a terrible PR point. When people are on holiday and have a few bucks to spare, they like to be WELL fed. I would avoid the camp in future with the food so poor. The chef needs some training or some budget or some inspiration or something - very disappointing. On that subject - we stopped at Skukuza for lunch. After parking in the area nearest to the restaurant, we followed the signage that indicated where the entrance is. It led through a "back alley" sort of zone which was untidy and neglected looking. Very strange approach to a place where one plans to eat... Once inside, we sat at a table that had a table mat which looked as though a rat had chewed through it - a huge hole in it and the mats didn't look very clean. My guest and I ordered "butternut soup" at the restaurant alongside the river. We both took one sip and couldn't face another one. It was horrible! Again, WHY is it so difficult for a chef in a high profile location such as Kruger NATIONAL park (!!) - representing our country to tens of thousands of visitors who have money to spend, to put such a simple meal together? It is NOT difficult to make tasty food. We sent our food back to the kitchen. I was embarrassed!! That chef needs handling and needs a recipe book! My husband ordered tea. There was one tea bag in a double-sized teapot filled with water. As a result the tea was like "dishwater". Hmmm...won't be going there again if I can help it.Also, it would be much nicer to have some extra shade on the deck outside that restaurant. It was stinking hot that day and the tree just wasn't able to provide enough shade, so we went inside. As far as the travelling experience was concerned, we felt that the Park was being well cared for. The roads were fine. It is a truly magnificent zone and we saw lots of game.I'd really appreciate it if you could send the relevant comments/criticisms to the relevant management in each camp as this will save me from having to write all this again. Many thanks!
Park was great as usual but the room at LS was terrible.
Accommodation is also declining seriously (rust-stain on the windows frame)But contrary to the other two rest-camps, the quality of the service and food (meals) regarding the restaurant were excellent and perfect.

Stayed at no 19 tent, the best! Please keep the price the same. Only problem shower too small
Requested change in tent accommodation. No 12 looked directly into setting sun and bush - not good esp when I booked months in advance. Kitchen equipment far too limited - no drainage rack, only 2 pieces of cutlery per item, no paring knife, only one wine glass etc. This really needs to be looked into.

I had two friends over from the UK and was thrilled that the overall experience was fantastic. The accommodation was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The Guides on the drives varied - not up to the same standard in terms of information and general patter that the private game reserves are. But they got us around safely and a few were very good.
We visited Kruger Park during November 2010. We had a great time, with the greatest rush being:3 leopards in 3 days - one just 20 meters from us eating an impala4 male lions3 young lions hunting impala - we watched them for about 45 minutes while they very slowly leopard crawled towards a herd of impala. unfortunately for them the impala knew something was up and at the last minute dashed offa 3 meter python lying next to the road warming itself
While the bungalows are OK, the food at the rest camp is a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. This is the kind of food one would find at a backwater fast food court where no one cares. Why not raise the level of the food to match the setting?
We really enjoy it and shall recommend it to our friends.
It would be great if you could get rid of the bats!!
We had a great time. The Lower Sabie camping ground is neatly laid out and accommodating, and the proximity to the river makes the location quite special. Lions were harder to come across than I've experienced in the past, but overall game viewing was a pleasure, usually driving North from the camp. One let down was a morning drive with a closed mouthed guide, and unusually sparse sightings. Also, having inadvertently booked through a travel agency via the safari.com website, we couldn't move our last night Skukuza booking to Lower Sabie, despite there being space to accommodate us. Whatever the case may be, a good experience was had.
This tent has a big problem with the fridge or the staff just forgot to put it on in time our water and ice did not hold until Sunday or the fridge has to be checked. Please. It's very hot in KNP then you expect the fridge to WORK properly for the sum you pay in these tents accommodation!
I would say, it was lovely and for what we paid it was worth it.
Very clean camp with nice shop and restaurant with friendly service. Bungalow was very nice with nice view in camp. Only problem was the bad service at the petrol station was very bad and the guys were very rude, not the lady.
Great experience !! Great views !!
Great experience !! Great views !!
We loved the tent and its situation - so peaceful. Facilities good except for kettle not working! But soon fixed. We travelled on to other camps - this was one of our favourites. We intend to make this a regular holiday it was so good.
As usual very good except buttons and knobs of plates and loose or missing. Maintenance is not what it used to be.
This was the first night in Kruger. The welcome into the park was so much more friendly than 4 years ago and it added to our enjoyment. The tent was exciting - a little too much in the wind at night but I would choose this over the small bungalow anytime.
At lower Sabie we had a fully equipped safari tent. However i would not recommend this tent at all. There was a giant gap where the 2 tents meet allowing millions of bugs to fly in during the evening. It was very unpleasant. We had to stuff the gap with towels to reduce the number of bugs in the room. It really did ruin our stay at this location. It is great that you have animal proof rubbish bins throughout the camps however silly to then have an open rubbish bin on the porch of each room.
Very good
Very good
superb!! staff were fantastic, the park is very well organised yet wild. great experience, will come back many times. thankyou
nice clean camp with lots of animal activity especially at night.

There is definitely a change in the wildlife since you had floods there. Also with the discontinuation of the watering holes game viewing is minimal.
Gravel roads unnecessarily closed for 3 days after the rain, which caused severe overcrowding of the tar roads.
I get angry when I read the letters of complaint in the newspapers. I have been to KNP many times and never had a bad experience. Toilets, chalets, shops - all are always clean and well maintained. The pool at Lower Sabie was sparkling. It is just the best place to relax and listen to Africa.
Dit was pragtig, netjies en skoon. Dankie. Baie diere gesien: Leeus groepe van 16,6 en 10 , 2 Jagluiperds , Hienas met 4 kleintjies, Olifante, Buffels en verskeie bokke

Tent 19 - reported power tripping when we arrived.[14.30hours]On return - 18.00 hours - had not been attended to - electrician had merely flipped the circuit breaker back up again - didn't actually identify and repair the problem as to why the circuit breaker had tripped! I established that it was the bathroom light switch that was causing the problem....
We were in tented accommodation just 30 seconds walk from the river boardwalk. Saw elephants and hippos by the dozens, as well as a bushbuck with baby in the early morning. Once again everything was wonderful and relaxing. We had a flat tyre wheilst here, and two Park attendants very kindly assisted in changing the wheel and getting the other one repaired, with no fuss. THIS IS DEFINITELY A CAMP TO VISIT. NOTE: We saw the "Big 5 over the whole trip, not necessarily at one camp.
Very nice camp. Restaurant was well below average. View from restaurant was superb
This was the first time my and I have stayed in the KNP, and has been a long anticipated opportunity to stay in the tents at Lower Sabie. Our experience was outstanding, with one exception, the food at the restaurant. We had intended to dine out a great deal during our 6 day stay, but after the first meal (which was our anniversary dinner) we decided that we it would be better for us to cook our own food. It seems such a missed opportunity not to serve meals to a higher standard considering the captive audience that they have and taking into account that it is an international clientele. Both my wife and I have been involved with food for many years and just felt frustrated at the poor impression South Africa was giving to her visitors.Aside from the food, the experience was amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful at all times, and we thank you for providing such a wonderful location for us to enjoy especially for our anniversary. Could anything be better!!!

Our bungalow was very nice too! We really enjoyed!
Lower Sabie bungalows are delightful. Self contained with cooking facility on an outdoor verandah. Ours was facing the river & we could watch hippos & elephants from our deck. They appear modern, sparsely but nicely appointed. Game watching was amazing.
One night I woke up: electricity had gone. Luckily I did not meet any wild animals (like in the pictue about dinosaurs...).The morning drive was succesful, we did see 2 leopards, one with his kill in the tree.
We stayed at Lower Sabie for the first time after visiting other camp sites across Kruger National Park and the stay was by far the best ever! The camp site is clean and the facilities great. Lower Sabie will definitely see us again!
Thank you so much to everyone. From that I made my booking until we drove out of Numbi Gate I was smiling all the way.Friendly service, our room were clean and tidy and thank you for showing the rugby in the restaurant. I love the KNP and Lower Sabie is always a beautiful place to get away. It really felt that I was on holiday for two weeks. Thank you!
The service at the restaurant remains pathetic as it has for many years now.The chalet was super but I would have expected some tea cups or mugs, cereal bowls and a cloth to dry dishes.
I recently spent a night in the Safarui Tents at Lower Sabie, and must comment on the condition. The tiles in the bathroom are lifting, the wooden floorboards in the tent are splitting and lifting. The covers over the tents are all ripped and flap in the wind creating quite a noise.Overall the tents need some urgent maintenance.
The camping toilets were dirty and the warm plates in the cooking area were in bad condition and very dirty.
Nice, clean camp site, comfortable & well equipped accommodation.

The Park was an absolute delight as usual. The animals seem to know what is expected of them, but the same cannot be said about the humans. The food and service at the restaurant at Lower Sabie was shocking. They had run out of supplies, such as chicken, burger patties, etc on the first day of the September long weekend. Limited supplies arrived the next day, but was again soon depleted - by lunch time. It really ended up being a long weekend, with an equally "weak" beginning ...
The trip was magnificent we enjoyed every moment of it and can only say it is recommendable to everyone.
This is a lovely camp!We stayed in the tents with a river views, and it was great. They could do with a bit of TLC, but they are still lovely. It is the best game area in the park, and we saw about 8 leopards in 6 days!We will be returning to Lower Sabie
Poor food and restaurant.
Thank you for a very enjoyable week at your park. We had one day of extreme heat and with that not many animals to see, and then came the chilly weather and the cold drizzle. Animals were scarce but we however rest in the tranquillity of nature.
It was a great trip and we were blessed with the animals that we saw.

Our tent at Lower Sabie was very run down. In need of some maintenance and up grading. The ropes on the one tent flap broken. Wood work in poor state.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The stay in the safari tents were excellent.

Family Unit is fantastic!
The tents at lower Sabie need renovation as they are a bit run down but still comfortable. Also utensils were short.

Laer Sabie is n fantastiese kamp , maar doen asb iets aan die abblusie blokke ! Mens kan nie mense saamnooi daarheen nie en dis so hartseer , want dis die beste kamp denkbaar !
We enjoyed every minute in the game reserve. Thanks.
Wonderlike ervaring waar ek goed kon rus. Het baie diere by herhaling gesien. Lekker om die wild uit te oorl

We had a really lovely stay at Lower SabieIts a pity that we could not stay a 3rd night for the stay at Skukuza was terrible. Our bungalow was on a corner where all the cars drove by we could hardly have a braai.Thank you for doing the bookings for us.Kind regards
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here . Ablution block clean and well maintained.
The accommodation (luxury tent) needed maintenance - sorry state of affaris.
same as above
Lower Sabie was a special treat, it was great to be at the camp along the river with the animals right there. Tents were clean and comfortable, we really felt like we got a bit more of the Africa experience staying in the tents. Was our favourite stay in Kruger. Very happy with our stay.
Very good camp, beautiful views on Crocodile river, nice gardens and restaurant. Accommodation very clean and spacious with excellent location and views. Very helpful staff.
The community kitchen was non existent, but themanager handled it to perfection and to our satisfaction. Compliments to a true pro in solving sticky issues.
Certainly we will come again.
Food in restaurant not good.
Lovely chalet and design. I cannot, however, ever work out why so many levels are made on patios to braais - I have knee problems and find it very tiresome. The bricks placed (un-cemented) as a step to a very high patio should be fixed. The check list was for a completely different chalet and again didn't have a tin opener, borrowed from neighbour. Loved the sliding doors. We went on a sunset drive with Promise and in 55 minutes (I am sure is a record in KP) saw the big 5! We knew where two were as we had just been along that road but still was very good. She was fantastic, took her time for us to see the animals and was the best game drive I have been on in KP - she needs to be complimented). Certainly will book one of those chalets again.
Accommodation at Lower Sabie was very good.... a well equiped bungalow.Food very average and service only fair.Shop well stocked...service fair.Game viewing good.I would have expected more repairs to have been completed after the floods...the rains will be here again soon!
Very nice, but .....It is a pity that the maintenance in the tent camp is not up to standard - also empty bottles and litter around tents!

It is a breathtaking experience. We are planning our next trip to the Northern part for next year already. The only thing they can have a look at is to build some extra toilet facilities between the camps. Because if you drive from berg en dal to lower sabie theirs nothing untill lower sabie or crocodile. And one or to hides with it to go and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and watch the animals coming to drink at a waterhole. Other than that, we enjoyed it extremely.
The Tented camps are really nice but require a lot of maintanace. The unit we were in is really looking bad. They are in a wonderful location and upgrading them would make it the best location in the park
Strongly recommend the sunset drive.Got to sleep on brand new beds, without headboards. Beds very nice but pillows keep on slipping off the bed. Onder-Sabie has lots of game to see.
Bathroom and toilet facilities were not clean.other than that the stay was very good.
Perfect camp for staying one or more nights, beautiful sight over the river if you have a bungalow on the border of the camp.Bungalows are well equipped for self catering and braai. Also compliments for booking and reactions on questions to Carien du Plessis for transferring us to Lower Sabie instead of Skukuza!Best Regards

My wife and I had a great time at Lower Sabie and found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had an electrical problem in our bungalow and the electrician helped us within minutes! Well done to everyone and thank you.
We had a great experience in the park and booking through safari.com made it more enjoyable as it was hassle free. The tents were comfortable and game viewing exceptional.
At our arrival their was no power at the bungalow but the Hospitality Services Manager mr Ramontsho Ramfolo attended to this matter with speed. Other wise the stay was good.
Excelent wild anamals and excelent drivings
Enjoyed our stay at lower Sabie, the bungalo was clean and the scenary from the cafeteria was exceptional. There were animals everywhere we went, and we have the opportunity to see the big five in the first 24 hours at the park. There wwere no signs for the Crocodile bridge gate on N4 and we missed our turn and almost ended up in MozanbiqueSam FaragSunset Beach, NC USA
Kruger park is awesome, the variety of wildlife is beyond any describtion. We were able to see all big five in the first 24 hours in the park. The bungalow accommodation and the cafeteria food were adequate, but nothing to write home about, however, the cleaning service were below par. Please ensure the Wi-FI hot spot is operational for future visitors. Thanks for a great experience; I must add that the staff and everyone we met were extremely friendly and helpful.
Plus sides: The tent was well equipped, clean and with a good location. Enjoyed the birds, the hippos and lion roar at night. We saw the big five and wild dogs. Other visitors were friendly and the reception was friendly and efficient.Down sides: Waste had been burned just in front of our tent nr 23 leaving burned cans and other residue. A staff at the cafeteria claimed we had not paid for our coffee although we had paid. We paid again and left it at that in order not to argue. A lot of cars in the sites with lions and leopards but I guess its unavoidable on a weekend.
We had a great holiday and experience.Maybe one little, big thing!I know this may sound strange, but we experienced very unfortunately high levels of noise from undissiplened toddlers. And this was from different families. I wonder if it makes sense for very young families to have a kruger experience. I would suggest a policy of no children under 6 if I could have a wish. For the record , I am not an old fart and have young teens myself.
It was a great experience, wonderful indeed, and would like to thank you for booking Bungalows with great view.

An absolute wonderful holiday with great accommodation and a bush experience that will not be easy to beat.Tony Jolliffe
Really enjoyed our stay. The views from the bungalow were stunningI cannot rememer which animals were seen on which days. The sightings are a collective summation during our visit. We also stayed at Berg n Dal and Crocodile Bridge. Berg n Dal was awesome, Crocodile Bridge not so nice.
The stove tops for 3 out of 5 chalets were not working.I phoned reception a week in advance to find out whether the chalet have a microwave and the guy at reception indicated there was. When arrived there was nothing, and I planned accordingly! Very disappointing.

My partner and I stayed in a hut at Lower Sabie for three nights. Both of us have never seen so much game! We saw all of the big five on numerous occasions, including 3 different lion sightings, 2 leopard sightings and an abundance of buffalo, rhino and elephant. We were also fortunate enough to see cheetah, hyena and jackal. The bird sightings were also good, including a Verreaux's Giant Eagle Owl. I would definitely recommend Lower Sabie camp in June. Other than the game viewing, our stay was very comfortable and affordable. We will be back!
Great experience over all. A lovely camp, we would love to visit again. We booked and payed for a bungalow on the perimeter, and looked forward to this very much. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived and were allocated a unit far from the perimeter in the middle of the camp. During our stay some bungalows on the perimeter were not occupied. We would in future like to have some way to ensure that this does not happen to us again.
From a South African working in the UK, the newly-built cottages are very good, the bathrooms exceptional, linen very good. Baboon/monkey-proofed kitchens super. Someone obviously reported a hot water problem in the camp and this was very quickly checked in person by a member of staff - outside of normal hours - impressive service. But the reception staff and shop staff were not to the same standard. They are not the welcoming and helpful people we have enjoyed at other camps.
What a fabulous time we had! The bungalows were superb, immaculate condition! The staff were friendly and very helpful, the camp sites were well kept and the plenty animals were plentiful. Overall well enjoyed! Will definitely call again!!!!!!

I was absolutely APPALLED by the Lower Sabie rest camp reception from the staff. Pretoriuskop reception staff were better tuned to engage new guests, however, the PARK FEES are OVER PRICED especially since they must be paid every day! Internationals pay more than SA visitors so it encourages people to not reveal their nationality when travelling with South Africans. The roads are poorly maintained. Kruger Park.com did not respond to my email enquiries around late arrival so I arranged it myself with a ranger at the park!
I have been coming to Lower Sabie for more than 50 years. Good environment to spot the big 5. Good value for money
The hut we were expecting turned out to be a terraced row of room. The external "Brie" area was sadly in need of renovation, the communal facilities were tired and to cap it all off, as an international inter-racial couple, we had the pleasure of our car's windscreen being covered in Vaseline on the day of departure. I'll leave you to guess the language of the people in the rooms surrounding us!
The area around the reception, restaurant, etc. are kept nice and clean. The gardens are well manicured, but this is where it ends. Within the camping/caravan area it leaves a lot to be desired. Gardens are dirty, overgrown with rubbish and in a state of neglect. A lot of tourist make use of these grounds and it sure leaves a bad experience in comparison with the rest of the camp
Please do something about the hotwater for the bathrooms. All 4 nights the water where cold when i took my kids to bath and when i took a shower!! We did not have this problem at Pretoriuskop!!!
The accomodation was clean and neat, people were friendly. The restuarant is very dirty, the chairs are full of bird droppings and the tables are dirty.Did not try the food. The shop is very expensive, not for our South Africans.
Managed to see lions 4 times during our stay.
The Kruger is and will also stay the best. The only problem I have was when we got our ref nr through Accomodation Direct I phoned Lower Sabie Rest camp and ask for tent nr 29(one of the best views) which was confirmed by a person named Phendulile. I phoned a second time and again it was confirmed. Then on arrival their sytem was down and we got tent nr 16. After we have complaint and the feedback we got I still feel this is unacceptable. We have booked a year in advance for certain dates, knowing the best views certain tents have and asked for that. Why can't we get the tents we have asked for? The second problem I have was the litter lying around underneath the deck at the Lower sabie restaurant.Isn't there a routine that this has to be picked up every morning? Come on people, lets keep the Kruger clean!! However, despite of the complaints the Kruger stays nr 1!
Only one slight house-keeping concern. Guests are asked to place recycleable materials in a separate bin, but first thing cleaning staff do when they arrive is to throw the contents of this bin into the general refuse.
Lower Sabie is a great place to stay! We did two game drives and saw a lot of animals. I can really recommend the night drive it was an awesome experience. The room was clean and big enough for 2 persons. If you want to use the communal kitchen you have bring everything with yourselfe like pots, plates and so on.
Our experience of 2 nights at Lower Sabie were satisfactory; the accommodation was acceptable and the game viewing fairly good though we think that R820 per night for self-catering is too expensive, particularly when R96 for daily Conservation Fee is added on. The restaurant was not up to scratch: eating with plastic cutlery on shaky chairs; the use of heavy metal chairs & tables on a wooden deck is crazy & when moved the noise is horrendous! There should have been a few spotlights from the deck onto the river in the evening.
We had an excellent time at the tents, they are very neat and very comfortable and we will definitely be back!!! This time around we would like a tent in front overlooking the river. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience in the wild!!!

Our stay was made very enjoyable in the accommodation as it suited us very well. A room for Grandma and 2 children ages 5 and 3 with Mum and Dad and 17 month old in their own room with a bathroom in each room. Having the large kitchen/lounge completely separate helped as this kept bedrooms clean and tidy and not play areas. 5 nights at the one camp with small children was the sensible option with wonderful game viewing daily and family friendly camp facilities. The children wanted to play safely in the private outdoor braai area but the dirt is a problem so a paved or grassed area would have been good to keep the children enclosed for clean play. Would recommend this accommodation for families or groups. Wonderful, thank you.
Kitchenette utensild and equipment excellent. Improved since last visit last year.
The Kruger National Park is my ultimate destination irrelative in which camp i stay. However, this was my first stay in Lower Sabie and indeed NOT my last! It was exceptional thank you so much!I really do not have any complaints. My bookings in the park already done for two other visits this year!Regards
Safari tent needs face lift - broken light switch - other light not working - hot plate kept throwing fuse. However thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The family cottage here was the worst in Kruger. Needs updating. Three different doors and keys, worn out, no views, location not appealing. Compensated by the better quality in the restaurant and nice location of this.
The entire weekend was awesome, the chalet was clean and spacious. We got to see the big 5 whilst driving on our own through the park and also went on an evening game drive. The "up-close-and-personal" highlight was seeing an elephant in musk come running straight toward us on the road, and we had to reverse for about 300m before he lost interest and turned away.

After visiting the Kruger for many years, this bungalow was the best so far: not too modern to deduct from the bush but comfortable enough to want to go back very soon! And a view to die for!

We had a wonderful time.Service was excellent. When buying anythinh prices wsere high.Had a problem with 2 plate stove at Skukuza but the two maintenance teams attended to it immediately.the reception at Satara particularly was very very good.
Lower Sabie had a nice crowd of people and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
This remains one of the most beautiful camps - from my own childhood through to that of my children and one day theirs ... well done to the team on the maintenance of this standard. The camping bathrooms need attention

The highlight of our stay here and my entire holiday is the afternoon we spent driving back to Lower Sabie on our final day in KNP. I finally saw white rhino, including a family of 5 with a calf. A complete delight and I hope that future generations are not denied this sight by the needless poaching that's currently happening. We were also extremely excited to see a leopard on the side of the road not 6km from the camp - wonderful.Lower Sabie was our last stop in Kruger and our initial impression of the camp itself was not good. Having stayed at a lot smaller camps up until now we experienced quite a culture shock staying here. We also found ourselves having to drive to the restaurant. Previously we'd been able to walk. And the room was very cramped. The air conditioner although operational, deposited a black soot like substance over the pillow of the bed that was directly below it. As the room was so small there was nowhere to move the bed to though. I wouldn't choose to stay in this camp again.
Fantastic trip! Although we never saw as much game as we would have liked, the rest camp great - clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Will definitely be back!
It was our first time in Kruger. We were impressed from the minute we entered the gate. Lower Sabie is a great camp as it has water holes, river and many places which the animals are attracted to. The camp is clean, organised and have everything you need. The huts are very good value for money, having an aircon and a fridge which is much needed as temperatures soared to 39 degrees while we were visiting. Highly recommend. Thanks
Always wonderful in Kruger!!Just worried about maintenance in Camps.Tent in Lower Sabi very nice but also needs maintenance on small things which would later save a lot of money!!

We had a really great stay at all three restcamps. I have never seen camps that clean and sanitary as in the SANpark! People were all friendly and helpfull.Thank you!!!

I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the accommodation was good. But notice many areas were not clean, I'm talking about the camp in general. Spent more time on this aspect,a neat and clean accommodation and good mattress is always a delight for the weary traveller.Staff need to learn the art of putting on a happy face, whatever the circumstance is! After all this is the first contact the client will have with what's in store in the Park. You are getting there but you need to work on these points.

Lower Sabie rest camp is beautiful and would make the Kruger park my home in a heart beat. Absolutely amazing being in the bush, I don't even have to see anything, just majestic being there, thanks to all for making it so special.

Toaster & corkscrew missing from room but noted on inventory sheet as in room. No cold water at bath. Reported to reception - no action - next day had to see duty manager who actioned. No repairs undertaken following floods - Lower Sabie Camp was looking run down but Skukuza was looking good.Other than above issue the staff were helpful and welcoming.Bungalow was clean but tiles were chipped and stove was a disgrace. Fridge did not fit in cavity so intruded into kitchen. Please get the flood repairs done and keep this international tourist attraction in the manner required to remain world competitive
There were many utensils missing and there were no cloths to do the dishes.

When you are not self catering you quickly get bored with the menus at the different restcamps - they all serve more or less the same thing. The selection at Lower Sabie was especially poor - the restaurant only had the Brai option and the only alternative was the fast food outlet next to it, where over half of the items on the menu were sold out/unavailable

What can I say. To start our holiday, everything was arranged and ready for our visit - starting at the entrance gate at Pabeni, the reception at Lower Sabie, (efficient and very, very friendly) and then our tents (no. 7 and 8) The service at the shop and restaurant, friendly waiters and efficient service. Unfortunately some of the visitors does not obey the rules and it is not always as quiet in the evening as I would have liked it ( I understand it is their culture), people speed and has often disturbed a peaceful scene while we were photographing special moments. Beer bottles out of the windows!? Loud music? I think the customers are not always right, maybe we would have to work on our attitude! But the park! WOW. It is getting better every time we visit!
Very relaxing and comfortable. We really enjoyed the break and will go back to this camp next year.

Hi. This was my first trip to Kruger. Really great experience and very reasonably priced. Please continue to keep this wonderful park in good condition so that you will continue to get visitors from all over the world to enjoy this unique experience! All the best, Gary.
The tents were amazing. They should invest in constructing more of them. A bit disappointing to only be able to enjoy it for one night.

same as above
The tent was terrible. It is like a bake oven in the tent; the heat is unbearable, there is a roof fan but has no purpose. These tents need an air conditioner. The tents are also too much on top of each other, they should have been spaced further apart. Our neighbors were not even 10 meters away from us, they also partied and talked and talked till the early hours of the morning. So once again not much sleep.

We stayed in the older bungalows which is not up to standard for the price we paid!I know that they are busy renovating the bungalows ,but I think a price discount is in order for the older bungalows. We had a terrific time on the sunset drive!

Funtastic. Nice people, beautiful country, funtastic park. Shame that the Souvenirs are too expensive and commercial. Experience to be repeated.

Had a very nice stay. Bathrooms was very clean compered to the other camps we where. Thanks for a stunning camping experience.
We absolutely loved our stay! There was also an abundance of wildlife around the camp! Great weekend, will be back soon!
We congratulate the KNP team in turning around the staff...over the last 5 years they have turned from surly to absolutely wonderful, helpful and knowledgable in their jobs. As usual the cleanliness of all ablutions and camps is of the highest standards and congratulations to all. A big thank you for looking after one of the Worlds greatest "natural" assets.
From day 1 that we arrived at Lower Sabie camp, the people and staff was very helpful and friendly. I will recommend this camp to my friends for a wonderful stay over and to visit. Thanks Lower Sabie for the wonderful time we spend there
Bathroom and toilet facilities were not clean.other than that the stay was very good.
This camp was fine for us who just stayed for one night but I would want something a bit nicer if we stayed longer, but basic, ablution block was so-so although the showers are quite strong so good for washing off the day's sweat and dust.Restaurant location is great, service quick but would have liked more smiles from the staff.Overall, it did the job, good location for going both south and north in the Park but facilities are average.
Front office was fast at helping us change our reservation from Skukuza to Lower Sabie - only critique was that they did not refund any money despite the fact that we changed to something smaller and cheaper. Mosquito nets were missing. Otherwise Lower Sabie is beautiful situated with nice bungalows and does seem packed or too touristic.

The time spend at Lower Sabie was a wonderful experience the Huts where very comfy and clean. The animals around Lower Sabie the best in the Kruger Park. Seems to me they also love Lower Sabie!!
My parents were here visiting from the UK and the overall experience was very good. The one disappointing element was the quality of the food offered at the fast food outlets at the Rest Camps. It was very poor.
Bungalow very nice, but aircon did not work and the place can really do with a feather duster

Our trip was wonderful despite the recent rain damage. The birding was wonderful as always. The hut in Lower Sabie was excellent value for money and the views fantastic.
Good amenities i.e. shops, restaurants etc on a beautiful river setting. The pool was a real life saver in very hot weather. Tented accommodation is average but comfortable.

Nice upgrades have been done to the bungalows. Pity there was no microwave.Restaurant for evening dinner is way overpriced for local South Africans, and service and food not good enough if you are trying to impress the Overseas Visitors. However, overall stay was great and we will stay again
Fantastic bungalow, very comfortable.Robert is an excellent guide who is really passionate about his job. Had a fantastic time on the sunset drive.

We enjoyed our stay and the camping facilties was in a good condition.
The park is looking absolutely awesome, the campsite is nice but could do with an upgrade of the ablution facilities. Other than that we had a fantastic time, lush vegetation, river systems look great and awesome game seen.

the parks are beautiful and from a viewing standpoint it can not be beaten. I believe however that the infrastructure of the parks need to be upgraded , the accommodation is tired , the tented camps, and cabins we stayed in all need upgrading, it appears that not much has been done in this area for many years, they are far from being in the same league as most of the private lodges.

We only stayed one night there but the room was well equipped with everything you need. The facilities are ok but the number of animals seen there paid back.
We did the night safari with the car and saw 3 male lions waling around. This was the most impressive on this tour. In general I think the jeeps are to big. With so many people it is almost impossible to have a good view around. You are sticked to the side you are sitting at. But the walking Safari we did was incredible. We had a thrilling experience by seeing 3 Rinos with a Baby, and were surrounded by 2 big Male elefants. After backing up from the scene we almost ran into a Hippo. So the whole situation was thrilling but the guides had total control. I would do the walking safari again. Best ever.

We have always visited the Park during Winter, we had our first Summer experience and were so delighted as we have never seen the Park looking so green and beautiful! We left the Park on Thursday the 12th for a dayvisit to Mosambique as it was raining and had an accident there. We had to spend a night and most of the 13th. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the keen observance of Eileen (The lady in charge of cleaning our rooms)for noticing that we had not spent the night. She reported it and we had the most warm welcome after returning. She is such an asset to your Park! The huts were so clean and affordable and well serviced! Please give att to the ablution facilities. Broken and missing tiles, window latches and wooden benches in the showers. Our thanks to Eileen! She is a star!We should never have left the Park that fateful day! Kind Regards
First time in summer. It was beautiful. never have i seen the park so beautiful and green. Lower Sabie's ablution facilities needs attention - tiles cracked and missing. staff wonderful. Restaurant where take aways can be ordered was out of stock of approx 70% of their menu. Lots of overseas visitors and not good for our country. management need to step up their stock taking. We enjoyed our stay so much, will visit in summer again

Some staff did not speak English when asked something, maybe because of the strike and were using other staff?
As always the park delivered in spectacular fashion in terms of game viewing.Somewhat disappointed with some not all of the park facilities. Nkulu picnic spot is such a let down, staff just don't care, the place is dirty and is unkempt. Compared to Mlondozi, which was such a treat in terms of staff, cleanliness and service, we stayed there all day! Also the pool area at Lower Sabie should be cleaned up, and grass planted Dean
The Lower Sabie Camp in the Kruger Park is one of my favorites (and I've visited them all). The luxury tents are the best combination of affordability and comfort. As usual, we had an awesome trip and have returned home refreshed and renewed by a nature experience. One thing that could be improved: remind clients that the booking will be under the name of the booking agent and not necessarily their own. Otherwise, it was 100's.
Trip was absolutely amazing! Just what we needed to get away! Everything was just perfect and the staff were superb. Well done SANPARKS!
Only one plate worked, there was no toaster. The staff once again had conversations amounst themselves whilst helping customers, it is irritating.

We liked this camp mostly with the African charm and in the nights the melodies of theanimals
Lovely camp. Lots of animals to be seen. Recommend the sunset cruise. We landed up in between two male lions roaring within 5 metres from vehicle, what an experience! Please bring back pensioners discounts.
