Guest Reviews for Shingwedzi Restcamp

Come and experience the wildlife and wilderness that makes Africa such a special place - the memories made on safari will stay with you forever!

The reception was excellent. Ablutions were well maintained. Staff very friendly.

Other than we had to wait a bit long before we could order and receive our food, we had a wonderful time! Among the best we've had! Thank you! Lovely rooms, nice pool, Lydia gave us a very kind service to do our laundry for us, we really appreciated her help and friendliness! All and all, we where very happy with everything!

A great camp with plenty of good trips to make in the area. We simply loved it, experienced a wonderful electric storm and rainfall there. Friendly staff, good facilities. Stands for us on the top of the camps with Bateleur and Mopani.

Joost Veldman

Everything about our stay at Shingwedzi was exceptional. The accommodation was well maintained and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

SARAH ALBERT SH151028

Can't believe the camp - so much updated since I was last here - really lovely.

MADELEIN ACKERMANN

We went to find the manager when we left to tell her how great our stay was. The facilities are amazing and the staff fantastic. For the first time in 40 years of going to the Park, I actually had someone come to our chalet and ask if everything was in order!!!!??! The shop was the best we visited with staff that were friendly and helpful. Although we saw less game, we will definitely be going back. Its now our favourite camp.

Roger Le Guern

pleasant stay!!

My husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary by camping at Shingwedzi camp. The camping grounds were accumulate, ablution blocks were always clean and the braai facilities were sufficient. The restaurants and shops were fabulous. It was an experience to remember. My highlight was the game drive - Oscar the ranger was very knowledgeable.we learnt so much in those 1 hours. We are already planning our next trip back.

This is the more type of accommodation we like, we really enjoy our stay in Shingwedzi. Will definitely go back to Shingwedzi. Service at the restaurant was excellent.

Betsie Stander

We had a fantastic time. the campsite was excellent, neat and very clean. the ablutions were always spotless. Game viewing was spectacular.

Candice Pappin

Was a nice stay. Will return soon.

Bertus Jooste

A wonderful sojourn in the Park at Shingwedsi- well appointed and spacious accommodation. Enjoyed eating at the restaurant there too. The staff helpful, and friendly at all times.

Sue Pitt

Modern and clean. My wife loved the open and airy layout. She deemed it the best (and least expensive) of the four locations utilized. I love Shingwedzi so it gets some bias in that regard!

Erik Eilertsen

Really cant complain the camp and hut was clean and well looked after. The only thing that was not nice was the fact that there is no grass. Would prefer camp to friends and family

Ingrid De Beer

Had a really good time, accommodation fairly basic but all round good value for money.

BARRY REIDE

Very clean, neat and helpful staff, a great stay.

Loved our stay at this camp, best game viewing, beautiful game drives along the river. Bungalows very clean and best swimming pool at the park.

Dagmar

Ons hou van die kleiner kamp plekke. Die diere is miskien minder maar alles is rustiger. Lekker kuier. Sal beslis terug gaan.

John Frylinck

Yes I loved my stay at Shingwedzi. The peace and quiet was fantastic. The attitude and friendliness of staff was lovely. Value for money is good if you camping. Only suggestion I would have is half price accommodation in off peak periods. The camp was maybe 20% full while we were there. The only complaint is the 500 fine I received for arriving back to camp late. Then I take some of the blame but a lot of the cause has to go to poor signage which led to a poor decision.

Tony

Bungalow was super. Thank you

ALIDA MENDE

Thank you to all the staff at Shingwedzi especially Christa, (who by the way, is like Wonder Woman!) for an absolutely amazing holiday. The campsite was spotlessly clean as were the bathrooms and kitchen areas, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful and we will definitely make a 3rd visit as soon as we can! The only downside to the whole holiday was that we went on the New Year's eve game drive and although a lovely spread was put on by the catering staff and they were very professional, we had the feeling that our ranger, Oscar, did not really want to be there. When we spotted a Scops Owl and one of the guests asked what the owl was called, he replied "I'm not good at such things". A better reply would have been to ask if anyone on the vehicle knew and if not to tell the guest that he wasn't too sure but would find out and come back to him. It just seemed a little unprofessional. We wish all the staff at Shingwedzi and indeed in all the camps, a blessed and wonderful 2015.

Gary Petler

Friendly service, clean, beautiful!

MARINA ENGELBRECHT

Well SanParks out did themselves with everything from staff to accommodation. We camped and the ablution facilities were brilliant always clean and with toilet paper, hand soap and towels available 24/7. All the staff we dealt with were friendly. The restaurant was excellent value for money and brilliant food. There is nothing I could actually comment on to add as it was our first visit and it will not be our last. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one. See you soon.

lindy solomon

I had lovely camping experience at Shingwedzi. The facilities were very well maintained, we only had trouble with one group of people not cleaning up the kitchen after cooking. The pool was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.

Charmaine Theron

The littel houses have outside kitchen and grills to stay Independent, since Restaurant is limited. Pool area is very nice as well. Animals have been far less around as at Satara Restcamp, but still giraffes, elefants, Buffalos, even lions and lots of birds are easy to find, just not as plentifull as in the middle of Krüger NP

Conny Ahrens

Good morning The stay was wonderful .

Inge

Superb accommodation. The hot plate was difficult to use, but other than that we were very happy

Mike Pallett

Our caravan stay at Shingwedzi was very pleasant.

MARTHIE VAN WYK

Excellent.

JANNIE DEj NYSSCHEJN

Dit was baie lekker om in die Karavaan park te kamp. Alles was baie netjies, skoon en in n werkende toestand.

Vincent Prinsloo

I like the ablution with a place for ladies to do their hair and make up. But again the electricity points is not enough for the quantity of campers that booked in.

Elize Greyling

Myself my wife and my mum of 84 had the time of our life's. I thank you for keeping us in mind when there was a cancellation. I don't know how much time we still have with mum so every time I get to spend time with here is special. And you people made it one of those times thank you. Kind Regards. Colin Bateman

Reception at Punda Maria gate and Shingwedzi was outstanding. The ablutions were very well maintained.

Pieter Koen

Thank you, keep up the good work. The restcamp is neat and clean.

Pieter Kriek

Had a great stay, planning another trip again as we speak. Keep it up!! The staff are very friendly too!!

ELLE

As Brits we were charged R868 for every camp the three of us stayed at. Total paid therefore was the equivalent of nearly £200 on top of the fees for the rooms! South Africans have to pay only a quarter of the price for the conservation fees. Clearly this will rebound on the Kruger Park. Government need to sort this quickly - punishing visitors will cost them money unless they see sense and reign in these fees dramatically.

Stephen Roberts

i enjoyed my self, the hut are fine and very good.

mpho madzhie

Probably the most enjoyable camp to sleep over this holiday, very pleasant!

Christo du Plessis

What a beautiful camp. Well organized, staff very friendly and accomodating and clean and neat.

NICKY CHAPMAN

We enjoyed staying at this camp, and the surrounding was very clean, also the rooms was clean

Ngwako Machethe

We stayed overnight and the camp was surprisingly lovely. Our accommodation was great, better than some other camps and the price was fantastic. The staff were friendly and we will definitely go back there.

Lee-Anne

After Letaba and Olifants, we were a bit disappointed with Shingwedzi. We saw very little game (not your fault!). We feel that you should emphasize quiet on the deck at the restaurant. Running and screaming children do not encourage game to come to the water.

Irma McMahonIrma McMahon

Our family had a great time at the Kruger. A few things looked like they needed further attention. Toilets needed to be cleaned more often, sometimes they looked terrible. We kept on having to pay extra money at each site we stayed at..frustrating as I was led to believe we had paid fully for the entire trip. Overall though, I would say it was an experience to remember, thank you Kruger park and all the staff. By the way, the staff we really fantastic..

Tanya March

A little disappointed that we didn't get to see the Rhino and Leopard. The stay overall was great. The camp was nice and clean, but I do think the prices of the store is outrageous.

George

Alles was geod en heerlik en ons het dit geniet, behalwe die teleurtstelling toe ons by Tshokwane voor dooiemansdeur gekom het!! Ons was toe honger en en sonder iets te ete was Skukuza maar v

As always & with all our previous visits, we once again experienced the magic that the Kruger Park has in abundance. We are campers, but decided to stay in huts this time around. The huts that we slept at were clean & sufficiently equipped for our needs. We received clean towels from housekeeping shortly after arrival at our hut & our fireplace was cleaned early the next morning. The ablution facilities were also very tidy & clean. Other facilities that we used, swimming pools, restaurants, park shops, receptions etc. were very satisfactory & with good & friendly service.Thank you so much for the upkeep & creation of a facility that contributed to our wonderful holiday xxx

Mariana van der Merwe

Overall it was amazing to be back, I loved it, the huts were looked after, the staff friendly and it was a good experience, however it was tainted by the prices and condition of the shop and dining room in Shingwedzi, the menu was very limited and the atmosphere was just not there, but Letaba was great, the shop was horrendous, prices 325 % more than Phalabowa (no excuses about transport please) the staff rude and unhelpful. but Letaba and Oilphants shops were awesome. I understand the Shingwedzi shop/dining room will becoming back to Sanparks so we wait and see. Lastly what would make a difference would be a bit more professionalism from the staff and actual interest in the clients, and more local knowledge. If SANPARKS would like me to come and chat about these things and/or do a presentation to staff I would be more than happy to do this. You are good but can be better.Regds Chris Walden

Chris Walden

Regretfully, lack of power and water points.

Ray Cooper

Overall very enjoyable. The accommodation was equipped with a fan only and this can be upgraded.

P Gordon

We enjoyed the trip. However, it's evident that there are far too many day visitors been allowed into the park, rest-camp facilities were swamped during the day, rather unpleasant in this regard.

Glenda O'Toole

The level of service has seriously deteriorated since 2010 to such an extent that the remarks book at reception is riddled with complaints - we get the feeling that the park management is reluctant to take action or otherwise incompetent to manage effectively

A Byleveldt

Our stay at Shingwedzi was good. Surprisingly there were not as many people as we anticipated - but it was still full and yet very quiet from a noise level perspective - which was awesome. We had a clean campsite, clean ablutions in spite of rains - and we all know how muddy ablutions get during the rainy periods. On one trip up to Pafuri picnic spot and Crooks Corner we had 3 individual sightings of Southern Ground Hornbills with chicks. We love interacting with the researchers in the park and being able to game spot with a purpose - so frantic photos were taken to try and look for identification rings to see if our birds were new discoveries for those collecting the data. We also came across 4 cheetahs interested in an Impala Ram herd. On our return besides all the other wonderful game - we were rewarded with the 4 cheetahs eating their impala. My only suggestion this time is that more hooks are placed on the backs of the doors in the bathrooms and toilets - to keep clothes and towels off the ground during shower times.ThanksKaren

The food at their restaurant gave my wife diarrhea on two occasions. Their shop does not sell fresh vegetables. The service at their Christmas buffet was shocking,we waited for our table to be ready yet we had pre-booked. We waited another 10 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us,another 10min for the starter to be served. Ate two spoons of the ox tongue starter & it gave me diarrhea. My system was in shock and the waitress had the audacity to gossip about how I wasn't smiling throughout the buffet, yet she never even enquired about our food & whether everything was fine. She was bold enough to expect a tip for services un-rendered. It is a never to be repeated experience. They won an award for 2011. Having a number of increased visitors at your camp versus other camps does not equal to excellence. They should ask their visitors about their experience versus taking number of visitors as a measure of their excellence.

Peter Lugisani

The place was decent and clean, I enjoyed the stay.

Azwiangwi Netshiomvani

Campsite was clean and beautiful. Shop was extremely expensive and staff not efficient (long ques to pay).

Steve Bothma

Loved the fact that there weren't so many people. Spent a fair amount of time around the pool. Lovely setting. Ladies bathroom a bit congested due to other ablution being under construction. On top of it, one of the toilets stopped working and there was water all over the floor.Ran out of toilet paper in the ladies bathroom. Had elephant come right up to the rest camp fence. Very sad to leave. Ice machine was a blessing! Got help from office staff regarding an email that had to be signed and faxed. They were helpful.

If you are with another person don't take the cottage with a loft then you sleep above in the heat. The Camp is perfect

Ons het baie lekker gebly in Shingwedzi. Die diens was puik en die kamp silwerskoon.

it was a wonderful trip - the camp was great. The accomodation was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. will go back

The staff were hard at work, cleaning up the camp ground at 07h00. The ablutions were very clean and well maintained. The camping area was tidy and very pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay at Shingwedzi and wish that we could have had more time there.Loved the swimming pool which was very well maintained and clean.Found the shop not up to the standard of the others in the Park - rather poorly stocked.

Clyde Wilson

Have never seen so many buffalos in so many herds before. Love Shingwedzi camp. Will visit again. The pies in shop was not so fresh on the Sunday.

1) Ablutions were well maintained at all times .

P.W. Koen

My friend and i went on a hike in the park, accompanied by 5 other tourists and 2 guides. It was absolutely amazing! We saw very many birds, and other interesting animals. This is something every south African should do some time. We then stayed in the Shingwedzi camp after the hike. Here, we found the campsite and ablutions clean and presentable. The restaurant served amazing food and the staff throughout the campsite were friendly and helpful!

Anke Wipplinger

The camp and accommodation was perfect. We had breakfast at both Letaba and Mopani. THREE restaurants and was very disappointed with service and quality of food.

I really want to bring it under your attention that I could not miss the service we got from the staff at the entry gates and the staff in the camp stores. It has always been bad service but this time I was stunned on the service I received, well done in this matter. Shingwedzi is a very nice camp to stay in, quit and peaceful and the night drive was wonderful!

FJ Nel

Overall we had a great time. Love the size of the room and bathroom! Travelling with a baby a microwave oven would have made things a bit easier. Something I did find annoying however was that none of the staff (reception & shop) would acknowledge you or offer assistance when you enter the room. But overall a great stay.

Sarel Dry

In general we had a good time. The evening drive did reveal some rare animals that scurried away so personnaly I did not get a glimpse ( the morning drive from Sabie was more " productive" ).

Hornikx

It was amazing. Me and my fiance would like to go again. We plan to go to the park again in December. We had a ball

Sal weer hier kom afsaal!

magarietha

The units were very nice but not sound-proofed. You can hear the next door people clearly. I found the people in the shop quite aggressive/bad attitude.

Monkeys are a problem.Grounds are not raked which is disappointing.

Campsite was a bit crowded and we could not get to an electrical power point. Overall experience was very good. Saw and heard the Pearl Spotted Owlet.

Is clean and we were warmly welcomed by friendly staff and assistants. My only thought might be adding an extra ablution block at the camping site, as there seemed to be not enough facilities to accommodate all the people it is also a distance to the nearest ablution block when camping near the swimming pool. There are toilets by the pool but the pool is locked after 9pm and thus if one has to get up during the night it

Minor maintenance needs attention. Eg shower door, toilet and tap leaks.Obstructed views at view points.Lovely drives along rivers.

Shop needs a revamp. Front office staff were unsure of times and availability of guided trips and unwilling to find out info. Our feeling was that more emphasis needs to be placed on the needs of the visitor / tourist.

Rachel Cauldwell

We had a lovely time, the camp is in good condition. The check-in time is a little late.

J. Dreyer

Shingwedzi is very tired! The restaurant and areas around it are badly maintained and urgently need upgrading if we want to retain a truly international standard. Wildlife is fantastic, with great sitings, especially birds, although the vulture population is disappointingly and worryingly low. Really enjoyed the drives along rivers.

Paul Krynauw

The Camp was not completely restored after the flood. The pool, shop and restaurant was not open yet. The Staff was very friendly.

Herman Verwey

We can see that the Management in this camp is highly skilled and effective! Keep up the good work!

JJ De Villiers

Well it was good to see a lot of elephants and giraffes at least. It was a good camp to stay in.

Madimetja

Saw two young lions attacking a buffalo in a herd of aprox 500. the next day we experienced a lion feed on tit bits dropped from a leopard feeding in a tree on its kill. Saw hyena with it puppies. saw two huge male rhino fighting over a female in season . The next day we witnessed lion mating. The following day we came across a pride of lion with one very badly injured. saw 5 herd of different buffalo of round 500 in a herd

The quality of service is not acceptable: 1.The restaurant servers talk loud with each other in close proximity to the guests. 2. There is bird poop on the restaurant chairs. 3. There was a cleaning bucket with dirty water and rags next to our restaurant table in Satara. 4. The people in the reception offices are very slow and after a long day of driving you don't want to wait to get checked in. 5. The building construction quality is evident, however, the maintenance neglect is very visible. We go to Kruger every year and this is the second time we got sick from the food there.

Antoinette Dinkelmann

Everything was fine, but the staff seems a bit tardy. The restaurand does not compare to the restaurant at Mopani, which is a slick, professional outfit.

Lara van Rooyen

Camp at the fencing facing the park, Genet and elephant came very close. Unfortunataly husband, wife and three kids and two friends moved in next to us and we could hear every move they made. The husband and children just could not talk softly, they were always just about screaming. Never heard the wife and friends talking. I once asked him to tone down his voice, it worked for 20 minutes.

Arno Le Roux

Camp was in good setting and staff very helpful. Accommodation okay but slightly overpriced. Cooking and crockery very basic and some crockery items in our bungalow were missing e.g. cups for drinking out of so we had to buy some from the shop.

Roger Horton

Fantastic! A wonderful holiday in a very relaxing camp. Can't wait to come back soon!

Jennifer Auret

Fun and relaxing as always

Leandre

Bungalow was really quite small and extra mattress that we had booked were not there.(We got it eventually). Bungalow seemed to be quite old, should be renovated. Restaurant choice disappointing. Supermarket choice bad - eg. only one type of cheese and it was already mouldy.

Elaine Grunow

Camp and camp staff and facilities and office staff, good. Well done. Camp and park nice and clean.Thanks.

D.S.van Staden

The camping side of our trip to Shingwedzi was excellent. We were just VERY disappointed in the restaurant (Tree Restaurant). I do not think they are up to standard and that made our camping days a bit sour.

It was wonderful to visit Kruger National Park. My son absolutely loved the animals.

Shingwedzi:Unit no b54Upgrade makes massive difference! Well done! Unit much lighter and patio spaciousKitchen workspace excellent! Best bathroom at sanparks!A toaster (not even a negotiable) & microwave noticeably absent! Require more than 3 of all cutlery & crockery, at least 4 for 2 people. Often 2 meals eaten after unit is serviced so you spend your day washing dishes. Due to monkeys cupboards or space inside unit required to store dry food, even if this means locks on the outside cupboards. Very little cupboard space.Consider modernising curtains and bed covers. The painting of the unit incomplete.Shop well stocked.Shop staff not very friendly at all.Reception staff were friendly but not accommodating.Restaurant staff always friendly, possibly need to advise what meals are not available when the menu is brought, not once people have decided what they want to eat. It leaves you expectant, then let down.

It was a great experience, my first time with my new caravan. Will recommend to all my friends. As a South African I'm proud of our conservation efforts and hope it will continue for our next generations.

I pitched my tent right next to the fence and was able to observe scavenging hyenas, small spotted genets and the occasional African civet in the late evenings. The roar of the lions almost every night added value to my camping experience! As a city dweller I enjoyed the stars as well, being able to see the Milky Way for a change! That was only my experience in the rest camp - outside is a world of its own!

Hermanus W. Lombard

We were fortunate to land among elephants and seeing the Buffalos going up the river banks of the Shingwedzi. An Elephant Bull also chased us. This was amazing but scary.

First day we saw a lioness caught a small warthog. And last day male lion walked in road in front of our vehicle. Fantastic pics taken.

van Tonder, Rudi

We would just like to thank you for creating such a welcoming and memorable environment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the camp and especially enjoyed the way the birds and other small animals freely walked through the campsite.

JP engelbrecht

We have not been to Kruger Park for some years and had received reports of the standards of accommodation having dropped. This was not our experience. The camp was clean and well run; the bungalows were basic (as one expects) but clean and comfortable. I have slept on far worse beds in establishments with a much higher grading. I have 2 comments - not really criticisms, and they did not spoil my experience: the stove did not work, and we were forced to use one of the camping kitchens; and the reception staff were adequate but slow. They would benefit from working with a very experienced staff member for some time to upskill them. But they were pleasant and (within the limits of "normal" queries) helpful. Will certainly be returning!

Sandra Saunders

We had a much nicer bungalow and the provided kitchen utensils were adequate as well as other services. The road to Kanniedood dam was exceptional with may species of animals to be seen.

JOHANN STROH

We immensly enjoyed our stay at Shingwedzi. The camp was excellently clean, the staff friendly. The breakfast at Punda Maria was excellent. Overall we had a excellent rest and would love to return.

Cheryl Barrie

We had a wonderful time at all the camping sites. They are all in a very good condition. It is clean and neat. The roads are all in a good condition. Service at the reception and in shops were very good. Very good value for money! We did not see a lot of animals

Mrs Du Bois

Animals were in good condition. My concern is the amound of windmills not working at the waterholes. The ranger has told us that those that are empty will not be fixed but broken down. The animals are already used to these water supplies. Not all animals can dig for water like the elephants! Will visit again soon!

The accommodation is spacious which is a definite plus however more privacy is required between units on the outside. We were a little disappointed as we saw no lion, leopard or rhino over 6 days.

Die picknick spots is awsome. Babalala en mooiplaas picknick spots het ons altyd met vriendelikheid ontvang. Baie dankie daarvoor.

Camp layout perfect, weather absolutely fantastic. The animals I always look for (wild dog, sable, roan, cheetah, leopard) hiding once again. Anytime, anywhere in Kruger is always the best.

Good:As always the Kruger is one of a kind in the world! Game veiwing was good and animals look healthy. Ablutions was not bad and the campsite was very clean.BAD:The campsite looks out on to the staff quaters. Every night we had to listen to some staff members having load parties till late! It was a let down for we come to the park for the animal sounds specially at night. The shop at Shingwedzi was poor comparing to others, no fresh foods etc.Overall:Small problems but will be back next year!

We loved the rest in this camp and enjoyed the lovely view of leopard on the bridge just before arrival. Very quiet but peaceful and clean.

Staff made a lot of noise during time we spend at Shingwedzi at night time playing loud music and shouting till late at night (01h00)it was so loud that you could not hear any night sounds. This was not the first time ,the previous time we visited Shingwedzi the staff took over the day visitors area and partied till 21h00 and then took the party to there quarters after we complain about the noise, and they partied till 3 o clock in the morning. The funny thing is if visitors arrive at any camp they give you all the rules and regulations of the park witch all visitors must adhere to,or you get a fine. Especially noise during day and night. But the staff don't have be silent they can play loud music sing and shout till late at night driving at high speed on the roads and also after the gates closed at night they drive from one camp to the other to go visit their friends. I have visited the park a hundred times before and stayed at all the camps and have no complain about them. It is only the Shingwedzi Camp staff WHO ARE SO IGNORANT TOWARDS THE RULES OF THE PARK !!!I really do hope if I visit the beautiful Shingwedzi camp again that it will be as peaceful as the place and bush can be.Regards

Always wonderful to visit the KNP. Peaceful, friendly staff, very clean amenities and plenty to see and experience.

Our whole family went to Shingwedzi camp for our annual get-together and as always we enjoyed every moment. The staff at Shingwedzi itself also put in great effort to make sure that we're all next to each other as we all booked seperate. What a nice place to take a break!

As this was the first time that we visited Shingwedzi, we were very suprised when we arrived that there were 3 generators making a lot of noise. Apparently there were problems with the electricity. After the second day it was fixed. Must say did have a problem sleeping with all the noise of the generators. Through all this, we enjoyed a wonderful 4 day stay. Lovely little off roads to see quite a variety of birds as well as animals. The Cheetah and her 3 cubs we saw at a watering hole on the way to Pafuri - this was so exciting. Accommodation was very pleasant. A suggestion to be made - a non-smoking sign needs to be put in the bungalows and chalets as the smoke tends to linger on the curtains and bedding. Would recommend this camp site to everyone. Thanks for a wonderful time.

We enjoyed Shingwedzi very much. Although there was a power cut staff came to make sure we were OK. Generator a bit noisy but overall enjoyed the experience of staying at this camp. R700.00 per night bit expensive.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shingwedzi as we headed south from Punda Maria. The camp is lovely and the bungalow we stayed in was extremely comfortable.

The night drive at Shingwedzi is fantastic.

We were happy with the camp and the service received at camp. We went on night drive and saw Leopard and Hyena. Bishop (the guide) was excellent on the drive with all sorts of info on the animals. We wanted to do breakfast at Babalala and there was no gas available. This was the only negative we encountered. Overall very nice and we would do it again.

Again, very little game, no masses of common herbivores. The cottage very worn out, needs an updating. The offer and quality of the restaurant poor: what you get served does simply not match with the tittle on the menu.

Daar is kampe waar dit beter versorgd is as ander. Daar is plekke wat aandag nodig het .... Shingwedzi se elektriese heining was buitewerking en hul restaurant was nie so tops nie (veral oor Paasnaweek).

We experienced problems with the road getting to The Park which caused delays we were not expecting even though we had put aside extra time for this. We were then refused access at Numbi gate and sent up to Palaborwa Gate who also refused us entry as we only go there at 16.30 and was told we would not make camp by the closing time of that gate (18.00) - even though we had already spent over 9 hours in the car. It would be helpful if this kind of information was printed on the documents recevied for confirmation. Also my 2 eldest children are 14 & 13 years old (classed as adults accroding to your pricing) but do not have ID books as yet as they are not 16 - I had to "present" them at the gate for verifcation as I did not have ID books for them? This was also not mentioned anywhere on your confimration documents. We had to find alternate accomodation for the Friday evening at our own expense. When we eventually got to camp our bungalo was infested with a swarm of bee's which we had to spend the remainder of the weekend swatting as this was an on going problem even though we didn't leave anthing out that would attract them (also because of the Monkey and Squirril problem at that camp)and wiped down the table and put the dishes away when they were used. They managed to get into the bungalo as the screen door was broken and didn't close at the top. Although none of us are alergic to bee stings I am sure that others are not as fortunate and this is quite a concern if you are alergic.

It took us 10 years to go back to the kruger and we loved it. The children can't waite to go back, but it has been a long time since we have experienced so many rude, unhelpful and unwilling people that work at a place. It is shocking to think that they work with so many tourist and get away with being like that. I hope that something can be done to improve this.

Well it was good to see a lot of elephants and giraffes at least. It was a good camp to stay in.

As per usual our visit to Kruger was special, as we all love the bushveld and its wild life. We do however find the service of staff slow and not entirely fluent in the English language. This I find is especially important when dealing with international visitors.Shingwedzi, although dry and dusty, and one of the older camps, was clean. I would also recommend that assistance be more readily available to assist campers in setting up, especially the older campers.Kind regardsSue botha

On our arrival, 2 people were immediately on hand to assist us. They were friendly & considerate, giving us ice-cold water to drink - it was scorching hot ! We were given the keys to chalet A13, but we couldn't get the aircon to work & the same friendly assistants quickly rectified the problem. We also experienced the shop assistants to be friendly. The chalet was neat & clean. We really stayed in comfort ! And... there were lion making a noise all evening...quite far off in the distance, but nevertheless special.....

We drove north to south through the park after a two week holiday in Botswana and Zimbabwe. As always, the park was beautiful and it was good to see it had had good rains this year. This did affect game viewing, but the share ambiance and just being there made up for what we didn't see. Lovely to walk around Olifants and see the great improvements!

We opted not to go back because the pool was still out of order.

Most camps were above average, but I have to mention that three of the camps we were not impressed with at all. At Lower Sabie, the staff comes strolling through chatting at the top of their voices scratching through the bins for finds? Most campers talk softly and keep the whole camp quiet but not the staff. Is there no way that they can walk around. And this finding food etc in the bins is just too much. At both Letaba and Shingwedizi the we could her the staff village playing loud music, dogs barking it really just spoils the whole experience. Thought domestic animals were not allowed in the park? All the other camps did not have these problems. Are these just badly management camps? The the swimming pool did not work for almost two weeks and the staff I felt, and a lot of other campers did not do anything to speed up the repair, just shrugged their shoulder and said they do not know.

Lesley Wilson

Fortunately we were not flooded out like the lower regions of the park. Although we had a fair amount of wind and rain the stay was enjoyable. Our only complaint, particularly because of the high temps 27 to 40 degrees C was the fact that the swimming pool was closed for repairs.

It was for the first time for me and my family to visit the place and, to be honest, it was very nice. The staff members at Shingwedzi rest camp were very nice, and they must keep on doing the good job. I will again visit the place on June with my family - thanks

We did not see much of animals but we enjoyed. It was valued for money. Maybe you need to put someone to advise people about malaria at the gate.Thank you

We were very impressed with the accommodation and the cleanliness of the camp. It is very well maintained. Game viewing was limited unfortunately.
