Ebb and Flow Rest Camp
A SANParks self-catering camp.
Along the South Coast of South Africa lies one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world, home to the Garden Route National Park. Tucked away in the Wilderness National Park, on the banks of the Touw River, the rest camp is made up of bright and pleasant forest cabins, cottages and campsites that sprawl on a wide lawn.
We do not take rest camp bookings. Camps are booked directly with SANParks, where current tariffs are published.

Accommodation
Camping Northern and Southern section
The Northern and Southern Rest Camps each provide caravan sites and tent sites, allowing a maximum of 6 guests per site, with the use of the communal ablutions and communal kitchen facilities. Each site can accommodate one caravan with a side tent and one vehicle, or one tent and one vehicle, or one auto villa or one motorized caravan. Portable braais (barbecues) are provided by reception. Certain campsites have electricity, while others do not. The power points are for caravan plugs only, therefore it is important to provide your own adaptor.
Accommodation Southern section
All self catering accommodation is serviced on a daily basis. Bedding, pillows, towels and soap are provided.
- The 4-bed Family Cottages have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen and lounge are in an open-plan area, which has a fireplace. Certain family cottages are designed to accommodate guests that have mobility challenges, which must be requested when making a reservation. Certain family cottages are fitted with DSTV(limited channels)
- The 4-bed Log Cottages, some built on wooden stilts, have 2 two bedrooms( (some with a double bed and 2 single beds, while others have single beds only) and 1 bathroom. Certain log cottages have a double sleeper couch, which may not be as comfortable as a standard bed. The fully equipped kitchen and lounge area are in an open-plan space, of which certain cottages have a fireplace. Some family cottages are fitted with DSTV(limited channels)
- The Forest Cabins have either 2 single beds or 4 single beds in 1 area(no private bedrooms) as well as a private bathroom. The accommodation has a fridge and utensils only, therefore the use of the communal kitchen provides a stove and washing up facilities. Certain forest cabins are designed to accommodate guests that have mobility challenges, which must be requested when making a reservation.
Accommodation Northern Section
- The 2-bed Rondavels have 2 single beds, fridge, hotplate and utensils. Certain rondavels have a bathroom, while others do not, however the guests will have the use of communal ablutions.
Activities & Facilities
As part of the Wilderness National Park, Ebb & Flow Rest Camp provides its visitors with access to the popular bathing, rowing, and fishing which takes place at Wilderness beach, the Touw River and surrounding lakes. Enquiries for these activities to be done at the reception office.
Other activities include:
• Water-skiing at Island Lake and Swartvlei.
• Canoes on hire.
• A communal TV hall, with DSTV
• A communal table tennis area
• Volleyball and basket ball
• Langvlei and Rondevlei bird hides
• Five hiking trails of varying distance and difficulty are located within the National Park
Other activities include:
Hiking, Canoeing, Fishing, Birding and Paragliding. Enquiries to be made at the Reception Office
Facilities are offered at Wilderness and George towns. There is no restaurant, shop, nor ATM on the premises at Ebb n Flow Rest camp.
Fishing is allowed in the following sections of Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park - Leentjiesklip, Kleinkrans, Sandhoogte, Swartvlei, Eilandvlei, and Gericke’s Point. Coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers are available for your convenience.

We do not take rest camp bookings. What our safari specialists do arrange is the Garden Route: private lodges where expert guiding, meals and game drives are included, and nothing is left to the camp kitchen. We look after international travellers and SADC residents alike, and many lodges offer reduced SADC rates.
