Absolute fantastic. Bungalows very very clean, peaceful,no load music, no hooting and just the sound of animals. Will definitely go more often. The person at shops and bungalows were absolute helpful and friendly as well as Mrs. Astleigh Pannell, her friendly and helpful manner when booking trips.

We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The camp was clean and welcoming. Our room had everything we needed the first night but then a few towels were not given for the second night. The fridge didn't work very well. However, everything you needed was there and what a view. The shop is fantastic and you really don't need to travel with food at all. They have everything you need. We are planning a return trip with our children.

Everything was perfect. Will definitely be back to this camp. Having a perimeter rondavel was awesome. It would be nice to have a different selection of restaurants - by the third night there, the Mug and Bean menu becomes a bit limiting. Their service is excellent though.

Having just stayed in Lower Sabie it was such a pleasure to enter our bungalow and realize not all camps are of the same standard. We expected basic and clean and that's what Olifants gave us. We were happy to use the shower and the kitchen was very adequate for our needs and YES we would definitely choose to stay at Olifants again.

We have not been to the Kruger Park for ten years. We were so pleasantly surprised to see how well managed the camp is. It was a delight to interact with the staff who were so friendly, courteous and blessed with great smiles. Olifants is always a great camp. Our accommodation unit was marvelous, luxurious, extremely comfortable, spotless and serviced.

As this was our first trip to the Kruger we did not know what to expect - and the first part of our trip we were stationed in the South of the park.I have to say that we were blown away - what fantastic service we received - the staff were friendly, helpful and very professional!A big element of spoiling and treating for us was the fact that each morning after we had left bright and early on our morning drives - the staff had come in and made our beds - holiday bliss!The location of the camp is more than beautiful - the views from the camp are absolutely breathtaking!Although we were prepared (by fellow KNP lovers as well as some of the rangers at the camp) that we might see less animals - we continued to sight numerous species.The difference in landscape was noticeable and for us newbies it was a wonderful experience to be able to appreciate the beauty that the more northern areas have to offer.The camp quickly settled into our hearts and we will most certainly be back!

Xmas 2013 I spent in Olifants. The camp as usual was very clean but the restaurant and shop were ghastly and the staff sullen and grumpy..not a pleasure at all. This trip the camp was still immaculately clean but shop and restaurant were well stocked and food good and the staff an absolute pleasure. I truly enjoyed the whole experience although I saw less game variety .. beyond your control! Congratulations Your help line for this review was answered promptly and added to the joy of dealing with the parks. Sondre did so well with the bookings too.

We had a four night stay in Olifants. The camp is well situated in the middle of The Kruger Park. A great restaurant, with the nicest view possible for breakfast!! The chalet is nice and we had everything at our disposal for a braai. This was our second stay in this rest camp and we will certainly return there.

Our two bungalows had an excellent view of the Oliphants River bend and we could literally game watch from our verandas.. herds of elephants, buffalo, antelope, and lots of hippos and birds. A feast of game viewing without moving from our seats!

My husband and I had the most awesome time. Tamboti Tented Camp was truly a bush encounter, so quiet and private, a small gem for next to nothing in price. Olifants Camp was exquisite in it's own way with magnificent river views and views to the horizon. Worth the little extra for a perimeter chalet with a river view .Immaculate, everything was perfectly clean and well kept. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommend both.

We stayed at the guesthouse which is very luxurious and has an excellent view on the river. We felt like part of the royal family while staying there! Please note that the rooms are all situated in alone standing buildings, which can be a problem when travelling with young children.

This was our fourth visit to Olifants camp and we were very impressed with the upgrades. We stayed in a premium river-view bungalow that had recently been upgraded with new thatch and paint and it was very pleasant. Disappointing that the restaurant menu was so limited, but, hopefully the new restaurant will be open soon.

Olifants Restcamp is the best choice for me if I go to the Kruger Park. It is a very beautiful peaceful camp, and we do feel that we are in the bush close to nature. The restaurant is okay, but it will be really great to have a Mug and Bean there with great quality food and value.

What magnificent views! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Accommodation was comfortable and offered us all the essentials. I would, however, suggest that each bed has its own bedside light and that the shower was more than a trickle. Apart from those little issues, I certainly give Olifants a high rating. Thank you. Well placed in the Kruger park, nice accommodations especially with river view. Do not forget to book the excursions before arriving as they might be full once you will be in the camp (we only had the night safari available, but was funny and interesting anyway).

The tranquillity of the Park impresses you immediately. I enjoyed the excursions from Olifants in particular as you don't have to worry about your driving and can sit back or walk, watch the game and get info from the guides on what you are looking at. Great!

We spent three happy nights in Olifant, but we are not self catering people. So we relied on the catering of the neighbouring camp: Mopane was great, Olifant was poor, almost very poor, and Satara, a disaster. If you want to attract foreign visitors, catering should definitely be improved seriously. Mugg and Bean, probably, Wimpy, not sure ... But the bungalow was ok.

The room was dirty. We stayed 2 nights and it was not clean Restaurant and cafeteria was closed and nobody tells us before the arrival. I think we just paid for the view.... And only one washing machine was not out of order

This camp had a wonderful view but that was the only thing we enjoyed there. The restaurant was going to change proprietary so there was no choice at all, even lacking of product such as ketchup (that was still sold in the shop close by), the staff was totally demotivated and lacking seriousness. I found a spitting cobra threatening me less than 50 cm from the public path going to the view and nobody from the staff did something to prevent accident. The accommodation had no hot water, and absolutely nothing in the kitchen even glass.

We drove 13 hours from Umkumaas to get to Kruger and at some stage didn't think we would make it in time for camp gate closure. The manager at Olifants were unable to allow for a later arrival which I thought was possible. Maybe some flexibility could be considered in future.

Everything was well managed and I was pleased with mostly everything. We had a wonderful time. We however had bats in our room every night and even left the light on to see if they wont enter but it did not help. Not sure how they get in though.

At Olifants we stayed in a bungalow with no utensils so we got up early to use the urn in the communal facility. The urn was broken and didn't seem to have been working for a while. The communal facility was dirty as well. The camo just looks run down.

We were helped very nicely with the bookings and vouchers.We found that they do not take care of the rest camps in the Kruger National Park. They do not cut the grass. The bathrooms for at the picnic spots and daily visitor sites are dirty.The take away food preparing kitchens are dirty and the food is very expensive and not up to standard.

When we booked, I requested camps with swimming pools and we were bitterly disappointed to arrive at Olifants and discover that there is no swimming pool.The food on the restaurant al la carte menu could be improved. What we did eat was good, but it is the same at all restaurants throughout the park so gets a bit monotonous.

The processes like registration and departure worked well at Olifants Camp and the personnel were friendly and helpful. The bungalow was clean and well kept and, of course, Olifants camp is the most beautiful camp in the Kruger Park.What was really funny and enjoyable was that we passed speedtraps twice and although we were laughing that there are speedtraps in the Kruger Park, it is also a pity that the human nature requires to be disciplined to respect nature.Thank you for a good experience - will revisit soon

We stayed 1 night at Olifants camp and 2 other nights elsewhere in the Park. Although I did not expect more, compared with the other camps and being the most expensive of the lot, I honestly cannot rave about it. It needs a revamp! Most off putting although was the pungent smell in the restaurant and shop area of - I think - monkey urine...absolutely terrible! You are welcome to contact me if you need any further comments.

We arrived late, around 6pm and had a lovely Braai and listened to the lions roar in the distance. Olifants is a lovely smaller sized camp with everything you need for a nice stay.

The Kruger did not fail to deliver. That said, I would like to add that the camp was a terrible disappointment... The first problem was that there was no pool - knowing that we had children with us, I would've appreciated our travel agent recommending another camp... We also stayed in chalet nr.40 and 41 - it was a bit dilapidated, and the plumbing didn't work well - with the wash basin overflowing when you flush the toilet and the grocery cupboard infested with ants....

The units are pleasant if a little small. The separate units with their own verandahs and braais were a big improvement on the semidetached units of Punda Maria. We appreciated the pantry cupboard on the verandah where we could at least store food outside the sleeping area. Please add more shelves, benches, hooks and rails in the bathrooms for toiletry bags, clean and dirty clothes etc. In addition please add shelves, hooks, rails and soap dishes in the showers.Please supply kettles in the units. The general camp area was pleasing and well maintained.

I came back to see the animals - and we saw them.However, nothing much seems to have changed with regard to the camps since I last visited six years ago.(1) You now need definitely to provide full and preferably free internet wifi services throughout your camps - and the cost of providing this needs to be built into your overnight accommodation charges.(2) The food and service at the three camps which we stayed in was quite acceptable, but not great. I think it would be so much better if the food and other outlets could be privatized, so that there is some competition to be the best.(3) The electricity plugs in your units generally only suit South African connections. You should have at least one international plug so that cameras etc can be plugged in.At present we can only do this using the shaver connections.

We had a lovely time in the Park. We were so lucky to see the big 5 in ONE day. The first day we have seen 4 of the big 5. We found lions 4 times the second day on separate occasions - counted about 20 all together. Apart from them we also experienced a lot of of spring for other animals as well. The cherry on top - they were all close by.It really was worth while - every minute. Thanks for making it possible for us as our stay was a present for my husband's birthday. He loved it.

The only negative comment I have is that the Cafeterias make awful cappuccinos and was commented by several guests. I stayed over at Skukuza as well great place. The atmosphere in Olifants was awesome. It is less visited and therefore much more quiet than Satara where we were the last time. The view is awesome! The bungalow was clean and comfortable. The aircon was a life saver. The only thing was that the shower did not work properly. The water flow was poor and drainage very bad. We did not report it until the last day however. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The game drives could be better, not worth the money we payed and should not allow children younger than 18. They got bored, talked a lot and played with the search lights. Thank you for your excellent service!

Our first night was spent in Pretoriouskop because we did not have time to reach Olifants before dark. Your staff very kindly found me a hut for our first night. Although the Rangers had the knowledge, they offered nothing to the very young group of American students. It was only when I stopped and asked about a funnel web spider's nest that he would tell us about it. Nothing was said about the spoor we walked over or the droppings along the way. What possible usefulness is just walking along the bushpaths if the tourists don't know anything about what they are looking at? I learned an incredible amount as a student when the knowledge of the group leader was shared with us. The snack on offer was plastic cheese in paper wrappers - really?!!!

It is a breathtaking experience. We are planning our next trip to the Northern part for next year already. The only thing they can have a look at is to build some extra toilet facilities between the camps. Because if you drive from berg en dal to lower sabie theirs nothing untill lower sabie or crocodile. And one or to hides with it to go and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and watch the animals coming to drink at a waterhole. Other than that, we enjoyed it extremely.

The camp accommodation was ok but the restaurant was bad. The food is basic and totally overpriced. There is no effort in making the food look or taste to value for money. The restaurant survive was also not up to standard. I feel a shame that any international/local visitor receive such service. The shops are however very nice and caters for everyone's needs.

The K N P is without question the best place in the world, with regard to Animal viewing, relaxation and witnessing God's creation.The only problems that I experience is that of high priced accomodation and high priced shop costs, in the camps. My only solution to this is to use the cheaper camping rates, and bye all groceries "outside" the park

We hired two chalets for 5 persons but couldnt book the extra bedding till we had arrived and when we did of course there was none so although we paid for 5, my husband had to sleep with the two boys in 2 beds. Also most annoying that the astronomy drive was not running although it still appears on the phamplets and on-one knew it was off even at Berg en Dal. On leaving we were not told that the Tarred H7 rd was closed resulting in a long dirt rd detour on our drive back to Jhb to catch the areoplane. So although the animal viewing is great, we dont feel as if we are treated as guests but often as if it is our fault that we dont have the required information such as that there is no kettle even in the chalets. We are south african citizens too!

I was not impressed with :1. The key we received for the bungalow was broken and they had to come back twice to fix the problem while we waited. We lost out on a game drive.2. The braai area as well as the parking bay had no lights. Frustrating if you want to braai or load your vehicle early morning.3. The last about 20km gravel road to the camp from Satara side is in a very bad condition and no game were seen here because of the dust.This is the only road to the camp, because the tar road is still closed after the floods.

The camp was amazing and it has the best views out of all the camps. You do not even have to drive out to see animals as there is alot of activity with the wild at the river. The only problem we had was that the Bungalow we stayed in(No. 19) did not have it's own stairs and we had to use the neighbour's stairs to go down to our braai, that was a bit uncomfortable. Overall it was a very lovely camp and the staff was very friendly and helpfull.

We loved our stay at Olifants Rest Camp. Everything we needed was avaialbe in the Bungalow (except utensils - but I had my own)and in the shop. It was so relaxing to sit outside on the stoep and see the Olifants river and hear the hippos. I will definately stay there again.

In the past Olifants was always one of the best camps to stay in, not so now. Very disappointing that the park has contracted the restaurants out. It has really lost it's old charm!!! Having seen Satara and Letaba's setup,Olifants needs to really up their game. It was a disgrace to say the least. So much so, I tried to swop reservation to another camp and was informed that had I booked directly with the park, I could have done so, but couln't because my booking was made through safari.com who I thought was in fact direct. I don,t understand why we couln't exchange having booked this way.

I do not know if you are the appropriate peoople to deal with this, however the entire experience was spoilt upon exit of the Park. As we exited the Orpen Gate our exit pass was taken and, for all intent and purposes we were of the mind that we had exited the park. To our surprise, as we travelled, we were stopped by Park Officers for purportedly speeding (driving at 70). Their reason, we had not yet left the park as there is another gate. This, despite our exit pass having already been taken. The Park officer informed me that our exit pass will still be taken at the next gate, however the exit pass had already been taken. I received a R750 fine which spoilt the entire weekend. I also find it abhorent that these officers are absent in the park where a number of people with X5 BMWs and bigger vehicles, speed willfuly and wantonly but that they decide to sit in an area, where one is (according to the taking of exit passes) already out of the park and target soft targets who pose no threat to any animals (as there are non around)(a mere 200 meteres away from - what according to the Park Official - is the actual exit gate.) However, driving from Malelane, via Skuzuza, up to Olifants and from Olifants to Timbavati and from Olifants to past tropic of capricorn, not one Park Official was seen enforcing any speed limit (despite us being passed and almost written off by various speeding vehicles), but 200 metres from a supposed exit gate a contigent of some 10 park officials are manning a speed trap.

A wonderful trip. The room was clean and tidy. We had no security issues with food or belongings. The room, cooking facilities as well as all communal kitchens were clean everyday which was great. Had a very enjoyable night drive from the camp, the ranger was extremely knowledgable and friendly. An overall awesome experiance and a definate must do for travelers on a budget. Its a great way to experience the park in a relatively inexpensive manner and to add a bit of adventure to it.

The service in the restaurants was traditionally not a great experience but lately it has improved dramatically, but the service and food in Satara is exceptionally bad.Just sitting in the restaurant all you hear is visitor after visitor complaining. Bungalows are of poor standard especially when considering overseas visitors. They really need urgent and comprehensive upgrading for the price payable.

Arrived at the entrance gate too late to arrive at camp in time so we had to forfeit our reservation. When I called to see if we had any options there were none. Disappointing.

Enjoyed tremendously, although we stop at a pick-nick site where they are busy setting up a fence that is good but the apes were really aggressive stole (obviously they are apes) fruit /food of our table we had to leave as they were really aggressive cant remember the name but it is between Satara and Skukuza.

So this camp is a little up North but driving from the South in the morning we had seen 4 out of the big 5 by lunch time. The camp itself is quiet & some may think out the way but I liked it. Only problem was that the bathroom was very smelly & they were fully booked so we couldn't move, but other than that I wouldn't rule it out just because it's at the North of the park. 10 mins out the gate we saw a Lion, Leopard & Rhino's.... cant beat that!

In general my visit to the park was a great one. I do believe on the contrary that it is NOT exceptional value for money. Some of the entrance gates to the park are not well indicated. The work areas (shelves) for the kitchens in general were not up to standard. Hot plate switches in our bungalow - Olifants Rest Camp were a real mess! The roads leading to some of the gates (outside the park) is a disaster - NOT good for advertising South Africa. The shopping experience was very good though!

We did the backpacking trail and had a fantastic time. The menu at the restaurant could be jazzed up a bit/made a bit fancier. The service on our way out at Phalaborwa Gate was useless - the guys didn't know what they were doing and seemed insistent on wasting our time.

1) Knowing beforehand the departure time for the night drive. Our night drive was on the same day as our arrival and it was a bit of a rush. 2) It would be nice to have like a radio station where rangers and visitors can inform the people in the park of where animals like the big 5 have been cited so that everybody can improve their chancers of seeing the big 5. 3) It would also be nice to have a built up area around the braais at the various bungalows to accomodate plates and glasses etc and with a light to make braaing more enjoyable at night. Otherwise a really enjoyable holiday!

Many Thanks for the opportunity of telling you of our recent visit to the Kruger Park. The booking was efficiently done from your side. We stayed at Olifants Camp - haven't been there for years - and found it to be extremely clean and the staff very friendly. The shop had everything one could wish for and was well stocked. On our arrival, we were given chalet No. 62, which, when we arrived there, saw that people had already used the chalet for the day - so not at all happy - as there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays and the bed had been used!!! Before we had time to get back to the office, an official came to us and gave us another chalet - which had a better view of the river - so needless to say, we were much happier with our change. We stayed there for 3 nights - and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The vervet monkeys visited one morning - and as usual, totally destroyed the contents of our neighbours fridge - this should definitely be looked into - even though there is a notice on the front door - these little buggers are so quick. This should be looked into as they are a real nuisance!! We hope to be back soon.

Alles was fine, net jammer ons kon tydens die night drive nie die roete ry waar die leeus die hele week al was nie. Dit so baie nice gewees het. Miskien kan daar dalk net vooraf genoem word van die eetgerei - miskien dit by die besprekingstarief insluit.

Good dayWow, just like always, the experience was exceptionally great! This time was special to me and my Gran. Since I can remember it was tradition for me to visit the Kruger Park with my grandparents. This year grandad passed away in February and it was the first ever it was just Gran and I. We however had good memories while driving through the peaceful ambiance of the park. We had some tears, laughs and most of all some finalities over Granddad passing. I would like to personally thank all the staff for the great service, the smiles and the always willing to help attitudes. Keep it up guys, you're doing great. Warmest regardsDouw Bezuidenhout

We had a pleasant stay and the Bungalow was value for money. The only problem we had is the water pressure in our unit was very, very low and we battled to have a shower. Thank you for a great camp. See you soon.

I suggest that in flat areas elevated earth ramps similar to those used by the British police to monitor traffic on highways be installed. A car could drive up and over to view over the bush. No great cost or impact on the ecology would be incurred it install them and they would be immensely popular.

Olifants is a delight. We stayed in a beautiful thatched hut sharing our porch with a pair of roosting Mauritian tomb bats during the day. The views over the Olifants river are spectacular. You don't have to leave the camp to see hippos. Get up early enough and you'll see them walking down to the river.We did a morning walk with John and Patrick which I would very much recommend. The guides' knowledge is incredible. We got up close to hippos, crocodiles and a loan buffalo. We also saw many birds including a pair of giant eagle owls and a white backed night heron. The walk was another highlight of our trip.
