Well looked after camp and accommodation and very helpful and extremely pleasant staff. Only problem baboons raiding fridges on two days. Even with fridge turned around and jammed they managfed to pull it out. Locks really needed.

The whole trip was awesome - saw 4 of the big5. The leopard eluded us...The rain was also coming down in buckets which did not deter us. We left same day as the gates were closed due to flooding!!

I had one problem at skukuza, had Maroela breakfast on 10 January, before we left. The Scrambled eggs were off. I tasted something funny, took about 4 bites and stopped, within 3 hours I was really sick, leaving the park. They need to check on food sold to tourists, Im sure I was not the only one

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay in the park however what concerns me is the shortage in ablution facilities for all holiday makers. They seriously need to review this and build additional ablution blocks. I will be booking again for December.

I was very disappointed to see lots of rubbish lying around the restaurant area and the staff making NO effort to pick it up.The quality of the food in the restaurant was poor and over priced.The prices of the food and curious in the shop was over priced.All the staff were very friendly!

My expectations was high since this is the so called jewel of Africa and I was terribly disappointed. Their ablutions is poor compared to even small private campsites and during our stay I did not once found the floors clean and dry. The parks traffic officials are on a money making mission and looking for any opportunity to financially abuse visitors - this has a negative impact on the entire experience. I doubt if I will ever visit the Park again.

Our bungalow did not have a kettle at all, and we were forced to purchase and overpriced aluminum kettle at the Skukuza shop. The warning pertaining to monkeys and baboons was also not accurate- the warning advises to put the table and/or chairs in front of the fridge so as to prohibit the primates from gaining access. They simply pulled it away, ate our fresh fruit and veg and left our meat (a week's worth!) to rot. Although housekeeping had been there, they did not even close the fridge so as to save what was left of our food.The toilet didn't flush properly. Housekeeping didn't empty the bins inside the bungalow.The aircon of the bungalow next to ours made such a horrible squeaking noise that we couldn't properly enjoy the quite and clam of the bush.The night drive which we had booked was an absolute waste of time and money. Our "ranger" spoke so incoherently that she was asked to spell words so that we could understand. But here comes the kicker... She couldn't spell "TOWER" (as in- a TOWER of giraffe) She spelt "...T...O..., eh..." and then just continued driving.The vehicle in which we had be driving had a noisy fanbelt and squeaky brakes.The park (outside the camp) was pristine, but the camp itself leaves much to be desired at the rate at which it is offered.

The Skukuza Camp is nice and the bungalow where we stayed was ok. We were not very impressed with the Sunset safari and that is why we decided not to take the Sunrise safari. It lacked excitement and information.

The Kruger Park was lovely. The amenities in the one chalet, however were not impressive. The stove did not work and the shower was flooding. Luckily we had 2 units and thus utilised the other units stove and shower. I experienced theft of food (not by monkeys/baboons) but from chalets around us. (call me, to explain further) I think locks on the fridges will resolve this issue. It will keep out the animals from helping themselves and the humans from stealing. The advertised kiddies programmes were not always held. My 4 year old was highly disappointed, when I told her the story time she was going to attend is no longer being held. As adults we were dissatisfied as this 'advertising' and lack of deliverance by the park. My bungalow numbers were 15 & 16. As for the viewing of the animals and park experience, we had a fantastic time. Why is there no education being offered in the park around pouching! The signs to look out for and the dangers it poses. Telephone numbers to contact etc. Surely the public can be of assistance in this regard as well.

I really was impressed with the Park and the Skukuza Rest Camp. The number of animals seen during my short hour and a half drive from to gate to the lodge was just amazing. I highly recommend the lodge for families due to its conveniences. I regret not having time to take safaris but I definitely will the next time.

Overall the trip was enjoyable and for the first time in the Kruger we saw a Leopard in the wild eating a Tortoise.The accommodation was up standard, with the only fault being the quality of food at the various restaurants. Our New years eve barbecue was below standard but I assume that we South Africans have a very high standard. The Chefs need to cook the meat (especially the Chicken) much longer as this was still raw when served. My wife and I had a great weekend and will see you again in Winter.

I was forced to drive around the camp site for literally an hour and a half looking for a suitable site, in the blistering December heat. So either the camp was over booked, or, and this is what I believe, because the sites are not marked, people were taking up more than one camp. There were several instances where campers had more than one tent, a vehicle or two and gazebo’s creating a problem for people coming in on that particular day were not able to find a camp site. The staff, after some complaining, eventually allowed us to setup camp next to one of the communal kitchens, so as to have access to power, since that is what we paid for.Other than that our first Kruger Park experience was very nice.

Skukuza was a great place to stay and a good base to see all the animals we wanted to see. The accommodation was comfortable with added bonus of monkeys hanging around. We took a night safari from the camp which proved to be fun and profitable as we saw 4 of the big 5.Even baby lions nursing on the road! We loved eating our dinners on the deck overlooking the hippo river.Overall a memorable adventure.

The camp was pretty clean, and the staff were pretty cool and friendly, and the layout I think was good. The men's ablution facilities, were to small, only 2 toilets per 20 men??? That was a HUGE problem. And on the ladies side, my girlfriend was really disappointed / disgusted. The toilets were filthy and unacceptable. The rest was great.

People from the adjacent bungalow took our table, chairs, pots and pans before we arrived, and we had to salvage them from other bungalows...That was really annoying? We went for a night drive, but it rained and was cold... Couldn't see much. Not sure it's a good value for money.On a positive note, we went driving on our own and saw some amazing things over a course of 2.5 hours, so that was pretty cool. Thanks.

We had a wonderful time though we could not make it to Satara camp area where we were told that the Big Five and other animals are "in huge supply" but no regrets; we still wanna go back to Satara and the northern parts of the Kruger. My first trip to the Kruger was not so memorable as I struggled to find even impalas and zebras. This time around I saw a hyena barely 5 minutes into the Kruger gate. Awesome experience

We were located in a bungalow in front of the river. The bungalow was very well equipped and serviced. Besides driving ourselves we participated in a walk with 2 rangers which was a fantastic experience - thanks.

Kruger Park is by far the best camping experience you can have. We had a great time even though it rained every day, but winter is on its way and nature needs water. I have only two concerns, one can be addressed by the park the other needs to be handled by the visitors. The first one is the amount of day visitors in the camp on Christmas day. There were day visitors at the camp pool and they left very late, some were even still there at six. The other matter is the litter in the park. I find it terrible that people can be so selfish when visiting. Other than that and really both matters did not spoil my visit, just made me think. Thank you very much I rested completely as I always do when I am there.

The tent sites are not clearly marked and the office does not allocate you a site - you must find yourself a spot. We booked 4 sites and could not find any close to each other.Other than that, we saw lots of animals so that made the experience worthwhile.

Being in Kruger National Park was an experience of a lifetime. I enjoyed a lot, and managed to see lots of memories of the late Paul and others. I would like the main gate reception to provide us with maps just like they do at Skukuza Camp, but after all, it was amazing.

We love the Kruger Park dearly, but do find that the accommodation is very costly for the minimum basics and the restaurants are very average, compared to even a couple of years ago.Laundry facilities were non functioning!Unfortunately, this time we have also notice a lot of litter along the roads, especially around Skukuza rest camp.

For the main camp of a national asset, Skukuza is very sad, tents old and broken, fridge dirty and dirty towels were found in room. General decay everywhere. People were friendly but restaurant and food service needs manager to oversee, tables dirty and chairs broken. When will this improve. Must say workers tried but not trained well and no manager to oversee, please fix.

Accommodation was comfortable and basic. However the amenities in the bungalows need attention - broken slatted table and old looking chairs. Cutlery/crockery very oddly paired. Perhaps a fan could be included in bungalows as well and a bit of a general upgrade done. At R1 000 per night one expects a little better standard and value for money (even for December holiday rate). KNP has become quite costly for SA residents to enjoy. Quality of food served at picnic restaurant not up to standard (breakfast VERY oily and distasteful). Staff friendly and helpful and facility at Skukuza shop very good although quite costly. Swimming pool at Skukuza not very clean and no grass area or good place to sit. However we were fortunate to view all the Big 5 and other wildlife as well.

The accommodation was good value for money (by Australian standards) but we had mice(or similar) in our thatched roof with droppings landing on my pillow. We later had a similar experience at Latabi (booked by someone else) with rats/bushbabies?. At Lower Sabie, a bird had nested in an external light, causing smoke to rise from the nest when the light was on. If it did ignite, the whole roof would have been burnt. Our neigbour, who saw the smoke, reported the incident.

The park is really worth a visit. However I did find the unexpected charge of R1224.00 on arrival unacceptable. A warning of the high cost of entering the park needs to be given to visitors. We paid in advance and were told that there would be a conservation fee. At no time was the amount of money to be charged mentioned. We saved for a long time to visit the park and to find the very unexpected amount on arrival unacceptable. You must mention to potential visitors the amount of money that is required up front and not hit them with it when they have paid for everything and have no choice. Gate's closing times are confusing, they should be clearly stated that they close 20 minutes before closing time, I had to wait for an escort for 40 minutes while I have arrived 20 minutes before time and was told that outside and inside gates close at the same time so I can't be allowed in. I was taken to the room which did not have what was in the confirmation, sleeping bed which was to be there was not, aircon which was not there instead there was a noisy fan. Room service people were not friendly, first day they knocked on my window which I find completely unacceptable and second day the guy who was cleaning was very rude to us. Please train your staff to accommodate gay partners as well.

The hot plate in our rondavel was very slow and it would not have been possible to cook on it. We had taken cold meats and salads with us and so coped. A kettle would have been nice! There was plenty of hot water and staff were courteous and helpful.

We always love visiting the Kruger National park as we are nature lovers. We do however feel accommodation is rather expensive. Our booking was made for 3 people ( 2 adults and 1 child). We were booked into a 2 bed bungalow which was spacious but we had to pay extra for our child but there was no mattress, bedding or towels for her so what was the extra fee for? Our game viewing was much more satisfying than our accommodation.

Due to overgrowth of weeds in the rivers (almost all of them), it is hard most of the times to see animals along the banks of the rivers.I found that I could see more animals along the rivers from outside the park. For example, I could see more animals in the crocodile river from Marloth Park than I could see from inside the Kruger Park.

Generally, our experience of the attitude of the staff. Given the size of the park, I appreciate that this is difficult to manage. There was a warthog in this rest camp that seemed to be stuck and wanting to get out; he was becoming progressively distressed. I phoned Satara rest camp because I could not get through to the staff at Skukuza. She told me to keep on trying, as they would also probably struggle to get through! Who is employed by the park in this conversation!! She was not concerned about the welfare of the animal at all. Furthermore, there is a female warthog with 4 piglets (??) that seemed to have made their home in this camp; in the best interest of the animals, why have they not been removed? We also noticed that generally the SanPark employees do not stick to speed limits set out. We were in tented accommodation and the music coming from the cars and, what we assumed, the staff's living quarters behind us was intrusive and a contradiction to what is understood to be the ethos of this magnificent park, peace and tranquillity, and respectful behaviour towards guests and its flora and fauna.

Too commercial. No kettle or place to prepare food in bungalow. Not easy with 2 kids ages 5 and 2. Even after upgrade to Bungalow with kitchen.Fridge rusted,door knobs not in place, Bungalow smells. Done with the Kruger. Will stay in private camp next time. Checked out same day from Skukuza.

The only negative comment I have to give, is that there was no "electric kettle" facility in the hut and to get boiling water one needs to walk to the "washing facilities". This is fine for during the day, but early morning not so convenient for pensioners.Otherwise had a great stay

For the basic accommodation you get in this particular bungalow I found it overpriced. If you want to charge that much, make sure that you have proper fridges in good working order (our fridge door did not close properly), and when you are looking at 30 degrees plus - you want your drinks to be cold. I found that it could have been a lot cleaner especially in the kitchen (stoep) area. The stoep table and chairs needs a good scrub, sanding down and re-varnish. The bed linen were very old and certainly would be not up to international standards. Shower and toilet area were clean enough. The kids also wanted to take a swim late afternoon and what a terrible state we found the swimming pool area in! No grass in sight (or very dry grass), no place to lounge, dustbins were overflowing with bottles and rubbish with loads of flies! I certainly did not want to ruin my towel by placing it on the red sand! It was very unpleasant! Other than that, we enjoyed the game drive early in the morning and we enjoyed the setting at Skukuza walking along the wooden boardwalk. We did not enjoy seeing the neglect of the gardens along the boardwalk and weeds growing everywhere. It was also not inviting to sit on one of the benches along the boardwalk to enjoy the view as loads of weeds growing underneath and benches were not clean and looked old. Overall the experience at Skukuza left us a bit sad and disappointed and we would love to see overall improvement at this specific camp.

Since the start of my experience in the Kruger I have enjoyed every moment and even introduced new people to the park. I have made a miscalculation with my planning and instead of arriving the 9th December I was under the impression it was the 19th. So I did not show but called the Saturday. As a valued client who really passionately enjoy the park I would expected the park to assist me in reorganizing my plans and provide a generous discount. Leaving for the park tomorrow . Just sharing my thoughts.

We had friends out from Australia and were shocked to find out they were to pay 4 x the amount locals pay for conservation fees. The guided tour was terrible on the back of the truck. Ranger didn't have a very good eye and took us on the public roads only. Didn't see anything except a "man made watering hole".

We stayed in Skukuza camp for 2 nights. We lived in a 3 bed bungalo, the only problem is that there was no basin and no stove. But we enjoyed our stay, it was clean and the park workers were very friendly. Will visit again shortly.

The stay in the Skukuza rest camp was ok, but it was very hot because there was no fan. The following day we complained about this and a fan should be delivered but it never did. I loved the Kruger Park experience, but the service in the Skukuza camp was disappointing.

When you stay at night and use the restaurant, the variety of food was in our period (end of November)minor. Another item is when you stay at several camps they offer almost all the same but at Skukuza we had minor options, no buffet which is normally offered.

Skukuza is a great place to start your trip into the Kruger Park, it has internet cafe, good restaurants, shop, post office, bank etc. Get all your stuff done and then head out further into the camp. I wouldn't stay here longer than one night.

We enjoyed our stay and to be able to walk down by the river. We ate out on the deck and watched baby hippos and their mammas playing. We spent most of our time driving through the park. We saw the biggest snail we have ever seen and a rock monitor lizard walking on the road. The Brown Hyena (not spotted) was a new animal for us. Very sneaky looking! We liked the rondavel cabin. Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the Skukuza camp. I travelled with our two year old and 3 month old baby and my husband and mother. We were able to see the big five and were comfortable at night in our bungalow. Next time we would bring materials to cook out on the provided grills as the temperature on the stovetops in the communal kitchen were a bit difficult to control.

Despite only staying in the park for 25 hours, we got to see the Big 5 (including 2 leopards) as well as some lesser seen animals such as a porcupine (in the camp!) and a large spotted genet on our night drive. Definitely check out the boards at reception to see where the animals are and try to get sightings off other drivers.

We had an awesome weekend. We would like to give thumbs up for the Kruger park, with checking in, the systems were down, but the personnel behind the counter was still helpful, efficient and friendly, the shops were well stocked, the restrooms always clean. When checking out at Numbi gate we also had the same warm personnel helping us and thanked us for visiting the Park, we are already planning our next trip to the Kruger Park. THANX SO MUCH!

Hi,We arrived on Friday saw lots of animals an booked in at Skukuza. Couldn't have a better time. Saturday, nice not too hot day - saw leopard was so happy but was looking for lion and didn't see a lion the whole weekend. Booked in at Olifants, wasn't that nice but did not have any other choice.1st disappointment: when we got there we needed to pay conservation fees (why isn't it included in the weekend stay?)2nd disappointment: every camp we got, on the board it said that people saw lions near by, we didn't see any lion.3rd disappointment: we stopped at a place to make some coffee and eat something and the baboon came and stole our food, only a small sign on bathroom say beware of baboon. Not even someone to chase them away.4th disappointment: on the net it shows that Olifants camp has got a swimming pool when we got there no swimming pool :-(5th disappointment: we didn't like Olifants that much so I phone Letaba and ask if they have space and if it is possible for us to move (we already paid) then the guy said to me yes. So we went to Letaba when we got there he said to me he didn't know that I booked at a agency and that he can't help me (why didn't the guy asked me on the phone with whom I booked?). So we needed to go back to Olifants to sleep. Our weekend wasn't fun anymore.And then we needed to pay conservation fee again at Olifants.I don't know if I will come there soon again or refer someone there.Kind RegardsLouise

This was a weekend to remember, and will definitely do it again with my family, the safari tents was great, well equipped, with Hyenas running up and down the fence at night time. The only down fall was the swimming pools that was not clean, so we could not swim on the Friday when we got there and needed it so badly (VERY HOT), but it was cleaned on the Saturday and the rest of our weekend was GREAT. The staff was REALLY professional, and REALLY FRIENDLY. The ablution blocks was also something to experience, very very clean. Well done guys you gave us a weekend we will never forget, you will see us soon, as well as friend that already took your telephone number.

It was our first visit to Kruger(Skukuza). I found the tent neat and tidy, the beds were fine.We landed there with no utensils, did not read our booking documents properly. It was more noisy than I expected early in the morning. I do feel the price of the accommodation a bit steep for South Africans.

My wife and I are thrilled that we did the tour and as it is our 40th Wedding Anniversary next year we plan to return for more days next year. We found the camp to be very dated. The overall appearance of the camp left a lot to be desired particularly the communal areas, restaurants, Internet facility, grounds, landscaping and general outside areas. The bungalow was extremely dated and appeared as if it had not had a makeover or improvements for a long time. The beds and bedding were also very old, did not appear to be clean which did not facilitate a good nights sleep. The inside of the bungalow smelt and was unclean insomuch that we were reluctant to stay their. We did stay at Lower Sabi and our tented facility was excellent in comparison to Skukusa. The balance of Lower Sabi's facilities were excellent, well maintained and clean which made for a much better stay.

We also loved this place. Huge, clean, easy to use. We can't remember where we saw all the animals. We saw so many animals in all three places. We also took a day tour, a night tour and a walking tour. Loved all of them.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals at Kruger, it was a new experience for us. During our stay we saw the Big 5 which made it very special. However, we were a bit disappointed about the accommodation. Our room was clean, but the bed linens were dingy and the towels smelled used. We had an ant problem, with ants falling from ceiling onto one of the beds in huge numbers. We also would have liked to have been given a bungalow with a screened veranda

Everything was clean BUT the fan was not working, there was no remote control for the TV in case you wanted to watch TV and the there was no ears on the cup to drink tea or coffee. The Kruger Park is excellent but for the amount you pay for the accommodation, you expect the basics like the fan to work.

Just a few issues.1) The fridges at the bungalows need latches to prevent monkeys from stealing food.2) The safe in the cupboard is installed in such a way that you actually can't hang clothing up.3)Our braai had an incomplete set of grids and we had to go and find the missing grid.4) For the price that we paid, I expected a queen size bed with some clean linen. Our linen and towels looked really old and washed out and it had stains on it. (That was a bit gross.)5) Service in shops, like the Wooden Banana, was not good at all. Many people were unhappy about waiting for food.Overall we had a very nice weekend and we where very happy and lucky to see a range of animals.

again all was perfect but we were sold a three hour walk for 4 of us costing R1320:00 we ended up driving for 35min walked for 1hr 20min it was great but then returned to the vehicle and drove another 35min back so instead of a 3hr walk it was only 1hr 20min so mathematically we should only have paid R586.25 i just feel that is what we were sold and we didnt recieve the whole package!!! that was our only let down. all the rest was best thank U all.

Very clean camp with nice shop and restaurant with friendly service. Also very good service at petrol station. Bungalow was very nice and big. Nice kitchen with average cutlery. Only problem was they were fixing the bungalow in front of us and there was a lot of noise in the day. Not very nice. Not nice view as well.

We enjoyed our stay at Skukuza camp area and the people there are friendly. We were lucky to get the big five in the Skukuza area as time was against us to drive to far. We were never before so lucky to see a leopard in the park and were very happy to see one the day before we left. The weather was awesome as it was cloudy most of the time and not too hot.

Since visiting 3 years ago - Skukuza has got very shabby. The once beautiful outside eating area was filthy. There also seems no attempt to make the bins "monkey proof" and we had monkeys pulling them over next to where we were eating and spewing old food/cans all over the floor. Gross - not to mention scary!! It took the Wooden Banana just under ONE HOUR to serve 4 toasted sandwiches which is ridiculous! As for the accommodation, whilst it was satisfactory, the curtains were falling off the rods, the carpet in the one room was badly stained - clearly little/no interest taken which is sad. We definitely won't be back!!

Beautifull camp and I really liked being so close to the fence. The Hyena came and visited us at nights. Wonderful way to relax and just enjoy nature as God created it. The only downfall is the noise levels at night from the staff village.

What are the chances of seeing leopard 3 times in one weekend?? What a great experience. We also recently purchased Sasol's book of birds and had the children spotting & identifying the birds. It was very nice at Skukuza and we really enjoyed our stay. Our night drive was marred by rain but we enjoyed watching the lions. The chalets here are very nice, but we think it can be good to fit in TV's in all of them.

The Camp is absolutely beautiful and accommodation is lovely, my only suggestion here would be to put up some sort of netting for the bungalows that have outside kitchens - even though we barricaded the fridge using chairs the naughty little monkeys managed to get into the fridge and spoiled a lot of our food and they also got away with a lot of fruit and yoghurts. The camp is family friendly and the pool is gorgeous. This camp is by far the best I saw on our trip and we also saw a lot of animals in this region. Will definitely be back again!

My stay was superb, only a few things that need amendment: the arrival time - we arrived at 17h50 at the gate, but told that we are late and had to wait until 19h45 for an escort while others were allowed entry. This actions nearly spoil my visit but had impact negatively on my budget because I had to pay extra R200, which I feel was not fair to me. Secondly, the communal kitchen must be changed as one had to walk some distances to the kitchen, am partially disabled hence this has affected me visiting the kitchen then resort to use resturaunt instead which also added more on the budget.All in all things were fine and even personnel were good except the security officers at the main gate who were rude in explaining the reasons why we had to pay even when arrived before closure i.e 18h00. I recommend if possible that guest need to be told in time that closure is 17h30 rather than 18h00, which had created confusion to us. I hope that my concerns will receive attention they deserve.

Wow what a disappointing experience. The booking procedure was perfect no problems and the lady (Carien Du PLessis) that help me was efficient and well organised. I attended a wedding in your staff camp so I requested an early book in by Mari who told me it would be possible if the previous people vacated on time and that she would note it in the diary as she would not be there and that I should speak to either Nomonde/Kate. On arrival they told me no early check in's so I informed them that I had made an arrangement early the week and that Mari had noted this in the diary; they then referred me to the back office. I unfortunately can not remember who I then spoke to in the back office but it was one or the other. All members of staff had a "I don't feel like working today" attitude and I was informed that in fact there is no diary. I was sent to the front again and the gentleman who then assisted told me once again I couldn't check in and I once again had to go to the back office, one of the ladies in there managed to get herself up and walk over to the reception desk to tell him that I could in fact check in. When i arrived at the room we quickly took a shower which made me feel even worse as there was some/other pooh on the floor in the shower with a lot of hair.It is clear in my mind that that the bathroom had not been cleaned and that my 3 year old made the comment of "the floor is dirty, I don't want to walk barefoot!" is beyond me.For us as South Africans I suppose we are used to this service however;it is a shame that we allow this to be the norm when it comes to the way we treat the tourists! What a big disappointment!

We had a really good time... Saw plenty of stuff you don't see a lot...2 Big kudu bulls that fought and hippo running, a half eaten hippo and a dead one underneath a tree. The lions we saw were close to us every time.Our camping facilities were great, the other campers were so friendly and we had a great time getting to know them. We are definitely doing it again soon.

HiWe were most disappointed with the restaurant at Skukuza, the waiter was surly and most unhelpful, the food was overpriced and disgusting, the take-away area was not much better. I think for visitors that are 'forced' to eat at the restaurant, mostly overseas visitors, they must be horrified at the rip off.I am sure that at least the staff can be more friendly, they almost resent serving you and to get a smile out of them was impossible.The bungalows were clean and a pleasure, reception staff good, its a pity the restaurant puts a bad taste in the mouth.Karen Galt

After our stay at Lower Sabie, our arrival at Skukuza was met with a little disappointment. Our bungalow was clean & adequate but conspicuously older than Lower Sabie. And had no cooking facilities (other than a wood braai outside). Facilities were less fancy, a lot more rustic than Lower Sabie. I think the Skukuza & Lower Sabie rates were the same!Game watching was still spectacular.

We had a wonderful stay at Skukuza Rest Camp. The accommodations were very nice. We were surprised that the beds were made for us each day and clean towels put out. We ate our evening meals at the camp restaurants and found the food to be excellent and at a reasonable price. Our drives on the roads resulted in us seeing lots of animals each day. We would recommend this camp and our Kruger experience to anyone who wants a great African adventure.

Accommodation excellent. A huge problem with Kruger N. Park, is the take-aways and and restaurants, there is not value for money. The boere wors braais during the day is an improvement, but get back on at 6.00 in the camp then it is minimal. A good outside franchise,eg. Spur, steers, Wimpy, Mug & Bean will make it so much easier. We asked for a milkshake at Lower Sabie, no flavours only vanilla, I ask you? Previous visit there were no milkshakes, some improvement. The walls and paving is very dirty.

Our accommodation was excellent value for money however I was absolutely shocked at the bad service levels in every restaurant, food outlet and most shops that we visited.

The accommodation was acceptable but the equipment was not as good as Satara self catering. The light on the veranda was very poor. I understand that money needs to be saved but we couldn't see to wash up or what we were eating! The restaurant looked ok but we only braaied because we had experienced such bad food in Satara and Berg-en-dal.

We stay in Skukuza from 30 Sept to 8 Oct 2011 in our caravan. It was my 10 yr old son's first visit to the KNP and it was exceptional. Apart from your checklist supplied, we saw about 20 different birds species, a "Groenboomslang" and a "Puffadder". It was an unforgettable experience and we will definitely visit again.

The park was amazing, the Staff??!! shocking!! My family enjoyed the trip very much, we saw 4 of the big 5 every day and it was a great experience. The leopard was the only one that eluded us every day, but furthermore it was a great weekend.

We loved the tents, although it was really hot! So of course it was too hot to be in the tent during the middle of the day. The only complaint is that the mattresses in our tent in Skukuza were in dire need of replacement and we were rather uncomfortable. I can't remember the tent number. I think it may have been 309.

The stay there was very nice. The bungalows were clean and neat and the camping area was also neat and clean. The quiet hours were well observed and we had no problems with other guests.The game viewing was first quality and we were able to see much of what we wanted to see. We also went on a night drive with the park staff and the driver, Lucky, was very professional and fun. I hope everyone has the same experience when they stay in Kruger.The only problem was that we arrived a day later than expected and our reservations (already paid) were canceled. The staff made a special effort to find us accommodation but I am not sure we were reimbursed for the day we missed.Steve

I found the Skukuza park with nice My points are the follow:1) accommodation condition excellent2) restaurant nice food and nice people3) reception very nice as well, very professional staff4) My only comments on this goes to the reservation that did not allow my 14 year old son to share a chalet with his parents. Hence I had to book one chalet for my son.5) Clener staff were very arrogant to us, pushing us out of the challet before even the check out time.

We had a wonderful weekend - although the only down side was, being a long weekend, there were a hell of a lot of people in the park and many day picnic spots were full to capacity. Not very nice.

I recently stayed in the Kruger park. I have been coming and going since the age of 4. The park was lovely, however I tried to book for an extra night and was told there was no accommodation for the Saturday night, however on arrival I found that there was ample space in the park. This highly annoyed me because I was bringing my grandfather to the park and the occasion marked his 60th year of visiting the park and I had already paid for a night's accommodation elsewhere.

Just some minor complaints. At the Skukuza resort around the shop and resturants, we found at one night the place full of litter and rubbish along the viewing decks. This most probably as a result of monkey's or baboons overturning rubbish bins. My proposal would be to ensure all bins are monkey/baboon proof and to do regular inspections and deploy cleaning staff accordingly.Staff freindliness at the shop and resturants could be improved on. Givem the number of international visitors I would have expected more friendliness and less arrogance (no names for now).

I came back to see the animals - and we saw them.However, nothing much seems to have changed with regard to the camps since I last visited six years ago.(1) You now need definitely to provide full and preferably free internet wifi services throughout your camps - and the cost of providing this needs to be built into your overnight accommadation charges.(2) The food and service at the three camps which we stayed in was quite acceptable, but not great. I think it would be so much better if the food and other outlets could be privatised, so that there is some competition to be the best.(3) The elecricity plugs in your units generally only suit South African connections. You should have at least one international plug so that cameras etc can be plugged in.At present we can only do this using the shaver connections.

Skukuza Rest Camp is past its "sell by date" and needs a good revamp especially since overseas visitors use this camp mainly. The bungalows are tatty, kitchen utensils lacking and no kettle to boil water. Luke warm water could be fetched from a small geyser in the communal kitchen which had old dilapidated two plate stoves which took forever to heat up.

Enjoyed my stay however the night drive booking was a mess. 1 The driver was late by 20min 2 the one spotlight did not work 3 the staff were very unfriendly to the people. We also did a morning walk and arrived 45min too early for our walk for the lady at reception wrote the wrong time on our sheet. Great stay but the bookings for your activities need a lot of work!

We were disappointed with our stay at Skukuza. In our opinion the camp was poorly laid out and it was very difficult to feel relaxed there while staring into other chalets kitchens. The air-con was very noisy and thus the mosquitoes were prolific! Also, we were given no warning against the monkey problem and there is absolutely no protection provided against the monkeys which raided our fridge and stole food. Staff all round were disinterested and unfriendly. We will definitely try other camps in the Kruger, but will not return to Skukuza. The game viewing was excellent though!

We really enjoyed the accommodation - lovely setting and facilities and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. However upon arrival we were told that the accommodation was open and the keys were there. When we arrived we found that only some of the keys were there and all the rooms were locked. We then had to return to reception and ask. They sent a housekeeper who opened the rooms but did not leave keys thus some rooms could only be locked from the inside and there was no key for the outside. We could not secure the rooms. Also the restaurant at Lower Sabie repeatedly got our food orders wrong.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy. The rest camp had a very good feel to it and the staff were generally well trained and welcoming. However, the accommodation is quite expensive for a 2-sleeper self catering bungalow.

The food at the restaurant wasn't great, and it would have been nice if there were a kettle and basin in the kitchen of the bungalow, but otherwise the overall experience in the Kruger Park was fantastic. We were a bit disappointed in the sunrise game drive - didn't see many animals.

The food at the rest camps was really not good. Sandwiches were dry - little filling. The pie with gravy and chips...the chips were really old and the gravy was like water. This had been a problem for a really long time! Also when staying at the Skukuza's tents, which is right next to the staff quarters, the staff talk very loud and shout to one another - from well before 5am. Takes away from the tranquility and solitude of the Kruger Park.

The bungalows offer a rustic sleeping experience, not unlike camping. We saw some sort of animal droppings on the floor and heard the animal scurrying around during the night. Overall, the bungalow was affordable but only a good choice for those seeking rustic adventures.

Was good. My parents went with us and had a great time for their first time. Was not as clean as before but was ok. The food is not very fresh this time at restaurant. The bungalows were very good although there were no towels at our arrival. The place continues being a good place to stay and we intend to come back in the near future.

In theory, the camp is great. You get to see the animals, have breakfast/drink on the terrace with a perfect view... But for the money you pay for the accommodation you actually get a very run down bungalow. The mattress is so old and soft you can actually see two oval holes in it where people usually lie. In the bathroom, you only get a hard soap and towels. For the same money (145 EUR) elsewhere you get a nice big room, comfortable bed with a firm mattress, bathroom with a hair dryer, soap/shampoo/body lotion etc... This bungalow should be rated as a 2-star accommodation, not as semi-luxury one (or it should cost half the price).

Skukuza was too busy and the rondawel was not up to standard. We did complain about the air conditioner that tripped the electricity and it was fixed the following day. The food at the restaurant was cold and not everything on the menu was available. We had to change our meal selection 2 or 3 times. At reception the service was okay but very slow.

We have a clean and well equipped place but did not know the monkeys can open the fridge, which they did, and eat our veg, fruit and cream. On exit the reception mention we have to put the outside chairs before the fridge door. Well maybe they must advise us beforehand.

Then we departed to Skukuza where the Crocodile River met us and saw some huge crocs just lying there staring at the water. Also amazing service, and a well equipped bungalow, with very friendly staff. We will be back as soon as the next long weekend comes around. ABSA House is very old and a lot of maintenance is needed. Part of the shower door was missing, no door on the bathroom, plugs tripping and poor lighting. Lovely spot and decent amount of accommodation, but a renovation is desperately needed.

Not my words, but my lovely girlfriend Dr Cerezo sums up the trip to Kruger better than me:After almost two years here and many excuses for not doing it, we finally seized the opportunity to go to wild Kruger Park. Mark's friend, Catherine and Billy (Catherine's son) are here visiting us so with that perfect excuse finally we organized the trip: Accommodation (check) Plane tickets (check) Car booked (check or so we've thought). After a very early start leaving Cape Town we are in Johannesburg ready to start what would be (so far) the most exciting trip of my life. All that we need to do is to pick up the car in Avis and get on the road. Little did we know that we will have to deal with the devil's minions (in disguise of a blondie Avis girl and an obnoxious manager). According to the blondie because Catherine (our driver) does not have a credit card but has a driving licence and that I have a credit card but not a driving licence, we do not qualify to rent a car. So we were there already in Johannesburg (so close and yet so far) with a very very tight schedule to drive (~5) hours to the Park before the gates close and feeling that we were about to lose not only our time and money but more importantly the chance to see African animals in their most natural state (as natural as it can be in these days, that's it). After shouting, begging and almost kicking the ass of the blondie girl, we decided to try another car rental company (fearing that all the companies would refuse us a car). However good luck was (at the end) on our side (as it should be with 3 Irish guys as my lucky charms and companions). Thrifty offered us a much better deal so finally, Kruger Park baby! Here we go... Six hours later we were in the gate of Kruger Park, as you can imagine my companions were more than tired, mainly Catherine who has done all the driving (Billy is too young to drive and Mark and I were, well, to useless to drive!). I slept most of the way to here so I really cannot say that I am tired (although my buttocks are in pain)... Because we arrived after the gates of the Park are closed and because was already dark we needed to wait for a ranger to escort us to our accommodation (just to be sure that a lion won't eat us). Also because we were so late we missed the night game drive, and the morning drive (at 5 am) seemed to be fully booked, one more time we started to fear that evil little minions were working hard to spoil our trip. While we waited for the ranger, we stretched our legs and lost our breath when we saw the beautiful African night sky... (I haven't seen such a starry sky since my young days camping near Ensenada). We decided to wake up really early in the morning to take our chance to see if we can get on the 5 am game drive. Unfortunately the bus was full so we didn't have more options that wait 'til 7am when the reception opens and see if we can get on any of the other drives of the day (I must said that at that point my frustration was reaching high levels because before we left Cape Town we tried to book our places for the drives and the receptionist told us that booking was not needed, that there is always plenty of space!!! grumble!! good grief!). Finally at 7 am we were the first in the queue and we managed to book (to the amusement of the receptionist), three drives: one in the evening (4.30 to 7.30 pm), one in the night (8 to 10 pm) and one in the morning (5-8 am). With our bookings done we decided to drive by ourselves and see if we would manage to see any of the Big Five (Rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion and leopard) or any animals at all. Much to our surprise after 10 minutes driving we found an elephant! The elephant was alone and after few seconds he decided to walk toward us, since none of us had never seen an elephant in the wild we just looked at him lost in the magic of the moment and totally oblivious of the risk of the situation: an elephant alone can mean that it is a bull (male) and he is looking for females and he might find us dangerous (or be in bad and aggressive mood) and he could decide to attack our tiny car...however after few seconds he decided that we did not worth the effort and he kept on going in his search for females...fair game to him! After that we found a giraffe (by the way giraffes here seem to be smaller than the giraffes in the National Geographic and that sort of magazines...one would think that a giraffe should be taller in real life that in a picture!), impalas, herd of zebras protecting a foal (so cute!), little vervet monkeys, more impalas, and then for the perfect finale of that drive: a herd of hungry elephants just at the entrance of the camp! Actually and to be more precise in the junction at the exit/entrance of the camp which created mad traffic (everybody wants to see them). We broke for a very lousy lunch (but I guess you do not get to these sort of places for the food) and had some spare time before the drives started. So we were relaxing (and/or taking a nap) in the house, and while Mark and I were relaxing under the shade of an acacia we heard some sort of growls and snorts, so we run towards the source of the sound (that sounded like a hippo to me, but hey! What do I know? I have never heard a hippo before)...and indeed in the bank of the river that is just outside of our house there is hippo emerging from the water...and then another, wow..! OK all great and good but is time for a nap

We were in bungalow 137 and was assigned K7 -kitchen. Whilst using the hot water urn - the tap broke away and boiling water burnt me very-very badly on the front of my body - major injury to my right breast. I advised Sunday staff who did not even have a first aid kit. My husband found ice at the shop and for the remainder of my stay I kept the ice pack against me. The staff did not even have the decency to inquire how I was the next day. They did say on the Sunday that they would report this. To date I have heard nothing from Management. Regards -

The more expensive Bungalow was actually quite luxurious in comparison with the hut of Pretoriuskop and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The bungalow was clean, well stocked and spacious.We did not frequent the restaurant as we braaied every night. The shop is well stocked and not expensive either. Prices obviously does not compare with the supermarkets, but the premium is definitely not exorbitant.The game viewing was in all aspects above all our expectations and there is few animals that we did not see. The only thing that spoilt the trip, was the interaction with a very rude Protective Services officer who obviously were not trained in the handling of the public.

I have visited the kruger and a few other game parks as well as etosha pan a few times. The Kruger is general a nice all round experience and i will always come back as i truly love the park.I do have one complaint however: we stopped over at lower sabie to get some coffee and waited 25 mins in the queue to get served, the people behind the bar were working very hard the problem is that there was only one person there and it was impossible for him to keep up. it made my sad and a bit embarrassed because there is no reason why more staff cant be employed. Kruger can do betterotherwise it was a a great experience and i'm looking forward to my next trip hopefully in may 2010

I have visited the kruger and a few other game parks as well as etosha pan a few times. The Kruger is general a nice all round experience and i will always come back as i truly love the park.I do have one complaint however: we stopped over at lower sabie to get some coffee and waited 25 mins in the queue to get served, the people behind the bar were working very hard the problem is that there was only one person there and it was impossible for him to keep up. it made my sad and a bit embarrassed because there is no reason why more staff cant be employed. Kruger can do betterotherwise it was a a great experience and i'm looking forward to my next trip hopefully in may 2010

We had an awesome time. I have never been in the Park, and as a first time customer, it was way above my expectations in terms of the wild beauty.We did however find that the restaurant facilities are very poorly managed. We were served our brandy and coke and gin and tonic in 500ml Castle beer glasses, and the food was not good at all.Get a good reatuarant manager and the place will boom, not all people are camping or having their own braai.

Skukuza park was value for money and staff are really excellent. The station restaurant is fantastic. The accommodation was clean and suitable for the occasion. I was last here 20 years ago and can still recommend it.

Being a long weekend it was very busy which is too be expected, but it was near impossible finding a site and sites are not clearly demarcated. Simply by allocating sites upon booking, this would alleviate a lot of stress on the day. It works very well in other camping resorts.

This was my 20th trip to Kruger and my wife's first. We had tremendous luck with the wildlife, and the sunset drive in Skukuza was one of the top experiences of my life. Fantastic value for money, but the only regret was that we only were able to stay for a single night.

We had to step in the shower each time we went to toilet - it's very cramped.Needs new braai facilities. Hot plates on sink??Otherwise shops etc. fantastic. We won't be staying more than 1 night at Skukuza, we would rather spend more time at Berg-en-Dal.

Was a really good trip, would recommend it to people, Skukuza wasn't the best though, no kettle, or stove so you gotta braai, which is nice anyway. Reception and people at gate are super unhelpful, we waited at the gate for two hours for an escort even though we were there in time. I eventually had to phone the reception myself to get us in, and then they wanted to charge for a 2 hour wait. View at Skukuza is amazing though and we saw a pride of lions there which was quite special. Overall was a great trip.Berg en Dal was amazing no problems there, seems to be more animals there as well.

We had great viewing, but the cooking facilities were not good. Only two of the four plates at the communal kitchen worked. Also the lights around the rondawel was not sufficient. Older people found it hard to walk around.

The accommodation was also excellent. The good thing about Kruger is that it is not a zoo, nothing is guaranteed,you can drive many miles and not see anything, then you meet a pride of lions. Our best period was NW of Satara, following a river. Hippos, crocodiles, elephants and all the usual antelope. It was fantastic, something my godson will never forget I am sure. I enjoyed staying over albeit 1 night. Just a few comments. The ladies toilet at Lower Sabie by the shops and restaurant was disgusting. I felt that many overseas tourists come there and there should be someone keeping an eye on the toilets all the time. The dustbin was so full that no more hand paper could fit in so it was lying all on the floor. The toilets stank so there was nobody freshening it up and the basins had not been wiped. We also stopped at Lower Sabie for breakfast... NO BACON. However, the stay at the camp in Skukuza was enjoyable.

This might be the most vibrant & largest camp in the KP for all the tourists but is also one of the camps which has the most noise. Due to all the tour operators coming into the camp with buses, combi's, trucks etc. - there was not one quite morning of which a bus would not start up at 4am & then the rest of the "crowd" get moving - whether this is also caused by admin staff moving around as well I was not sure but forget Skukuza for tranquility. The BE2 Bungalow is only a 2 sleeper but it is very small in all areas - including toilet etc. Personally, too much noise and too many tourists - fine for a day stop as the shop is very well stocked. Nice deck for viewing the river & game.

All accommodation was in good condition and while there is nothing fancy about it, it is more than adequate.There is far too much traffic around Skukuza,all just a bit hectic. Looking at lion through binoculars with 20 other cars around me is not my idea of nature.Thanks for a lovely stay.

We spent 2 nights here and went on a sunset game drive. The drive was excellent and we spotted many animals including the reclusive genet, lion, buffalo. S21 was a fabulous drive and we spotted a leopard near one of the watering holes.Our only complaint - we were not given enough towels the second day of our stay.

We had an extremely pleasant time at Skukuza camp site which was to be expected a busy area with much coming and going of people and vehicles.A more restful day and night was spent at Berg 'n Dal where the facilities were certainly above average - a newer camp with less "traffic".A great encouragement to witness standards generally being maintained and we wish to encourage all involved to keep up the good work- the park is one of our county's gems!!!!!We have no qualms about recommending the Kruger Park to our overseas friends!!

The Kruger Park has to be one of the most amazing places in the world to visit. I have been visiting since I was 5yrs old. Skukuza was clean and mainly how it has always been (I am so glad that the Kruger Park has remained the way it always was)... The game we saw was amazing. The only negative thing that I can say is that the staff were sometimes not as friendly as they have been in the past. In particular, we went for a game walk and it really seemed that the two rangers who took us would rather have been somewhere else. I really think that the rangers should show excitement in the bush and at being in the bush as it only makes it a better experience for the tourists and will encourage them to return often.

We had an lovely holiday - just sad to see the road damage by the floods in January still not repaired. Found the shops incredibly expensive - obviously catering for overseas tourists and not South Africans. Food at the restaurants was excellent and not too pricey. Pretoriuskop Camp looked very dry... no more grass between the bungalows but still very neat. Skukuza as always beautifully kept. We are very glad about the strict rules implemented concerning alcohol use and purchases. Overall - a wonderful experience as usual.

Good day. The accommodation is not a problem, the tent is just the right way to get close to nature. However, we had tent 312, which is right by the road to the staff section of Skukuza, so instead of sitting on the stoep to listen to nature, you just heard cars and lorries up and down. This was really unpleasant. Surely, they could at least just supply a kettle, instead of having to go and fetch boiling water from the communal kitchen. Thanks, we will stay in the tents again, but will request not near the staff road. Thanks

After Berg-en-dal, bungalo was found lacking with no stove, but beds new and comfortable! Food at train restaurant by camping site was VERY disappointing! Animals were an absolute treat and drives were thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks for the hospitality and service we can not expect any better. The safari bakkies that take the visitors around to see animals are very rude, whenever someone spot animals they just barge in right in front of you and take all the view for their customers, we come to the park for rest and peace and then this, that's not on, I mean really. The animals are there for everyone but it seems as though these bakkies think they are superior. They are everywhere in all the camps not just in Skukuza,and are very arrogant. Unfortunately I cant remember the specific name of the service provider because I was so upset I just drove away. PLEASE DO SOMETHING.

I did enjoy my stay in the park I could not ask for better.I would only like to suggest that the book in times be at 12h00 and not 14h00, the people that stay in the camps can leave and arive one hour before and after the main gates to the park open. I mean it cost us much more to stay in the camps, so why cant we get a bit extra out of the support from us to the park.Other than that I would book into the park again at any time I LOVE IT !!!!!

We were forced to take 3 bungalows for a family of 5. That made our stay in Skukuza VERY expensive. No electric kettles - took a while to make coffee in your kettles on the electric stove. One of the bungalows didn't even have a kettle.

We had an amazing trip in Kruger. Self-driving without a GPS was daunting at first, but with such good roads and well-labelled directions it was a very straightforward and liberating experience. We stayed at Skukuza for a night and the bungalow was fantastic. Very clean, authentic and convenient accommodations were a welcome surprise for a reasonable price. If you want a taste of self-drive safaris, Kruger is the place to get it.

I understood that we would be using communal cooking facilities, but did expect to have at least a kettle in our kitchen so that we could enjoy a cup of tea on arrival without having to go on a trek. Same for coffee on awakening...out in the cold morning before it was possible to have a hot drink. The rest was super...arrival at gate professionally and efficiently handled, same at reception. Overall a splendid 2 days which I plan to repeat soon.

Visiting Kruger is and will always be an honourour stay was magnificent My wife and I had a 30 year anniversary - the rest camp was quiet and nice .For the first time since 1984 we had the privelege to spot the big 5 - we have never seen a leopard and saw a leopard drinking water at lower SabieJust one comment - the Rooibokke seemed less than normal ?A lot of my friends share the same observation - is this a coincidence or is there underlying reasons?Can not wait for the next trip

We enjoyed our visit very much. Everything is very professional, the admin, bungalows and the Park itself.Maybe one problem - shortage of lights outside the bungalows. The time you arrive at the campsites it is dark. In Pretoriuskop and Malelane you are suppose to braai outside - but no lights. Was not a problem in Skukuza.

We went low budget this time staying in tents at Skukuza. They were very basic but added a little to the adventure. Game was a little scarce around the Skukuza area this time but we have been luckier in the past. The camp is large and very well appointed and I would not let the lack of game put me off. The real thrill of a big game safari is not knowing what you will find, if anything. I sat with a large male Kudu for 20 minutes. He was very close to the car and although not big 5, Kudu are very impressive and do not normally stand around waiting to be photographed. All in all I got what I paid for and had a wonderful time.

Facilities at Skukuza very good. Chalet was clean en had everything we needed. Restaurant GREAT!We went on the sunrise drive. Disappointing! Firstly, we almost did freezes to death and that for minimum wild that was seen. The tour guide drove on the tar roads through very thick bush areas. While it was still dark, we could not see a thing. After sunrise, we saw the most animals. We could have saved our money and drove ourselves at 06h00. In a warm car! Don't see the fun in waking up at 04h00 for a tour on a road where we could have drive ourselves. We did expect an off-road drive in a land rover or something. Something you can't do yourself. Will not recommend it. While driving around during the day, the only complaint is the other cars that have no respect for you driving slowly. If you stop to see some wild, taking photos etc, they come driving past you at a speed, definitely above 50km/h, just to scare the animals, and therefore spoil your viewing experience.

The accommodation at Skuduza was very clean and we wanted for nothing. However, the public eating areas were extremely dirty and the staff were reluctant to clean tables, bins etc. The food at Lower Sabie was horrible.We love coming to the Park and will book again.

We stayed in Kruger National Park long ago. When I book for the chalet/bungelow, I expect the tipe of rondawel we used to stay in - long ago. Big surprize when we arrived and found the lovely, clean, neat bungelow with the kitchen outside. Very nice thank you. Complaine - The baboons/monkeys and the fact that you can't put anything in the fridge when we sleep of go for a ride!

the camp is tidy but too buzy. We waited 2 hours for towels and as it was a "base" camp, we arrived, wanted a shower and then bed, hence it was overpriced for our needs and we were inconvienced waiting for towels after two phone calls. But if one intends resting there, then i suppose its ok. Shower was big but the access was limited as the door was huge too and one had to squash in between the door and the shower cubical walls.

I made a group booking but when we checked in the bungalows allocated were not together. I was told that I should have contacted the camp itself to get all the bungalows together. Last year when I inquired about this, I was told as it is a group booking the bungalows will be together but I could just make sure when checking in. It was done like that, this year they told me I had to have contacted the camp itself to get bungalows together. I was also told that it was not a group booking as it was done through an "agent" being your website and it was not booked as a group booking!! This was very confusing and aggravating. The personnel were also not very lenient and quite abrupt.

I was dissappointed with the fact that although I made a group booking as we are one family all going together on an annual basis, our bungalows were not together. Last year I was told this is done when we check in and it was, this year I was told that I should have contacted the camp before hand and request it. This was confusing and the personnel were not very helpful in that way, according to them there was nothing that could be done about it.

I have been a regular visitor to KNP for many years as my client number will confirm.I continue to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Park but have a growing concern about the poor dirt road conditions. In numerous area signs state that the roads cannot ge graded due to as they are too hard due to lack of rain. Some of these signs have been there for a few years now and only regulars like myself will notice this. The road to Orpen dam is a no go zone unless you have a 4x2 or 4x4. This applies to many others and we found that we spent 95% of our time on tarred roads or risk rattling the fillings out of our teeth.

SAN Parks had their awards evening on, I think the night of 21/6. They played thumping music until after 12 that night. It stopped when we complained.The duty manager is ineffectual, she was supposed to have moved all the PAYING guests to the lower aeas of the camp, however, this did not happen, she should be disciplined. Many of the SANparks employees were given preference over the PAYING guests. LOUD MUSIC (if you can cal it that)has no place in a reserve, irrespecive of the function/motivation. The bungalow was poorly "kitted" our we had to take untensils from another bungalow. The condition of the bungalow was shocking for numerous reasons. ie. in serious need of maintenance and a facelift. Very, very disappointing.

One comment I want to make is that the lights at the powerpoints (camp sites) isn't necessary, and it takes a lot away from the ambience of the bushveld. We had to park our car to block it so we can sit at the fire, and at night to sleep, it's extremely bright. I would also have liked to know beforehand that we had to have a special adaptor for the power points. We then had to buy one at the shop which I know is at least double the price than at a store outside of the park. There were also a big group who were very noisy all the time, and I feel that is disrespectful to the rest of the campers. I think that could have been controlled.But overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

The camp is noisy. Care should be taken to ensure that the camp remains peaceful. This should be highlighted when checking-in. The golf course and staff were great, and strangely enough, the most peaceful.

We enjoyed the stay and the hospitality of the staff. The restaurant staff was the best I've seen. The only downside was the queue at the gate. More staff is required to assist when checking in.

This is the camp I would recommend everyone to go to, it is centrally located and the area is full of wild life, the highlight of the trip was a pair of mating lions, and a cheetah on a kill. We were delighted to see many rhinos in the area, unlike the northern portion of the park where rhino was very scarce. The guest house accommodation was below expectation, there was no heat in the kitchen area and the open louvers in the bedrooms made it almost impossible to heat the rooms adequately.

We had a fantastic time in the Kruger. We stayed in Skukuza which was great. The accommodation was clean and functional. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Want to go back tomorrow!

Skukuza is a very busy camp and sometimes gives you the impression that your still at home! Nevertheless, the staying was great! We haven't seen a lot of animals near or around the camp. Maybe we were just unlucky. I love the Kruger and always will. Thanks a lot Accommodation Direct!

Very enjoyable trip. Bungalow met all our needs and was very clean. My only suggestion would be that the fridge and cupboards be fitted with a sliding lock for the monkeys - as we barely arrived and they already raided our fridge while we were unpacking inside. We were not able to leave anything in the outside cupboards or fridge which was very inconvenient.We were very disappointed with the cafeteria food - very poor value for money. Our burger buns were still frozen solid (Saturday night 9/6/12 at 7.00pm - caf was very quite). Cheese sauce for schnitzel was straight out of fridge and not even warmed up. Chips were not cooked and still raw. Actual service from staff was very unfriendly and slow. We planned to have 3 meals from the cafeteria, but as a result of this experience on our first night we refrained from using the caf again on our trip.

In only 2.5 days we saw, stopped and really watched, and learned about many species of animals and birds, but more than that, their social organization, reproduction patterns, territoritality, notions that periodic rest, lowered metabolism, 24 hours a day is different than our patterns of sleep/wake. And many more hints of how ecologists think about these relations, relations over space and time and interspecies relations. We were incredibly lucky to see animals rarely seen, yes. (Wished for hyenas that didn't oblige, and saw a porcupine which almost never appears). But our real luck was in our incredibly knowledgeable guide, Alex Douglas, and her ways of helping us to understand living patterns of life among the animals, birds, vegetation, water, etc. We came away "high" on both what we had learned and how, cruising slowly, slowly through the park, we had come to learn it!

We love our stay in the Park, was our first time and we had a lovely time - was just too short - we were so lucky to saw 10 lions, and made it worth it. We will definitely do it again but this time round we will bring the children with. Skukuza rest camp is a lovely camp, we love the restaurant outside on the deck, looking out on the nature, with the hippo's close to us. The food and service was good. We just love our stay in the park, this was my birthday present from my husband and it was just the two of us spending some time alone with each other. It is a memory that I will keep in my heart forever.

I've written a review. But I'd like to add, that the night tour was quite frustrating. The driver had no helper to spot animals. Instead, tourists were invited to pick up one spotlight on each side of the bus and do the spotting work. One passenger was very effective. The other handed the spotlight to a 4 year old kid who played with it the whole trip, so we saw nothing from that side. Instruction would have been useful. A helper for the driver, with spotlight, would have been better.

We were surprised by the friendliness and helpfulness of staff (even at a very busy night at Skukuza's reception)The daily care of our facility was added value. All facilities well kept and neat. Lots of information available. It will help if the staff of safari.com are better informed about the facilities at the accommodation point - example : hot water is freely available at the kitchen in tented area and drink glasses a plenty - we bought extra glasses since we were told there are none and packed a kettle for boiling water. The rest was excellent and even better than expected -I must say National Parks are one of few very effective Government Institution in this Country - we take pride in that. What an enjoyable experience with my family. Thank you!!

We spent 4 nights in Skukuza and loved it. Saw the Big Five by our second day and on our third night (while having cocktails in the bar) two herds of elephants came over the hill and down to the stream where they stayed for over an hour. Fabulous.

Hi - thank you very much for allowing me to comment on my stay at the Kruger National Park..All in All the experiance was a blast even though we did not see the BIG FIVE - for my first time at the Kruger Park it was awesome!!The room were we stayed at was awesome - the service at reception where we checked in was absalutley up to standard..Even the people were really friendly - and we got to meet a wide range of people who have been coming for a while to the Kruger to give us tips..The only problem we experianced was the food - we exspected the service to be 100% when we ordered - we had to wait a while and plus remind people that we had an order outstanding - it was actually ready it was just laying in the kitchen - the sandwhich that we ordred was the chicken and mayonaise - we were wondering why do you guys put tomato sauce on a "chicken and mayonaise" sandwich?? where was the mayonaise?? we asked..the chips we really bland - it was actually nothing to look forward to - so we decided to buy our own food and cook our own thing - for the price that we paid we exspected more also we were staying at the Kruger National Park so yeah we were quite disappointed in the service we recevied on our arrival we did not want to waste more money on food we never enjoyed the first time or take another chance on ordering something we never enjoyed...Kruger National Parks price of service or should I say the food is rediculous for the quality that we received...Charlene May Tiy Kay

As regulars to the Kruger it is disturbing to come across the amount of rubbish in the camps and in the park. We went to the nursery on the Sunday, NOBODY present to help us and Rihanna's Only woman in the world playing at full blast to all and sundry, not even a bird in the vicinity. I don't think this should be allowed in ANY park let alone the crown prince of parks in South Africa. It was so so degrading, upsetting and heartbreaking, AND PLEASE DON'T turn this into a racial issue, because it is not. Skukuza itself should be eco friendly, it is NOT, synthetic fabric on the beds and windows, and definitely NOT washable, who chose this? A golden thread, and quilted? The blankets, which were obviously quite new and bought not too long ago, washed in boiling water, shrunk, creased and absolutely awful, even the tumbledryer drum holes imprinted on it. The sheets were cut to narrow for the mattress and could not be tucked in, NO mattress cover and because of the narrow sheet you sleep directly on the mattress half the night. How long will the mattress last in this case? In the bungalow we had not even had the basics like a wooden board or wooden spoon, what happened to the salad bowl and toaster we always had?Berg en Dal looked so neglected because of the amount of rubbish all over the camp. It breaks your heart to see that our beloved park is going the way of all parks further north look at Wangee in Zim and act before it is too late.If we can help, please let us know what we can do to save our heritage. We have joined the Honorary Game Rangers to try and make a difference Regards

Overall the stay at Skukuza was very pleasant. Unfortunately i think it was way overpriced considering the daily conservation fees had not been included in the price of the bungaloes. Even the kiosks were very pricey.

The rondavels are only just adequate (at R840 + R96 Conservation fee per night!)& need upgrading; having the minute & badly laid out kitchenette on the stoep presents problems with baboons & vervets since nothing was lockable & nowhere to store food items. The equipment supplied for "self-catering" was very inadequate: there was no electric kettle (an old aluminium one did not have a proper lid); no chopping board, no toaster, no bowls for serving salad or whatever, no sharp knives and no small saucepan. These are all basic items that any visitor should expect to find in self-catering - without them these rondavels should NOT be marketed as self-catering because they obviously are not. We complained to the Camp Manager & were supplied with these items. To provide poorly-equipped accommodation of this standard (the bed linen though clean had obviously seen better days)to RSA residents is bad enough but that foreign visitors should be expected to pay for such accommodation at the main Kruger camp is disgraceful. We will not visit Skukuza again & we would not recommend it to friends or visitors.

Our night drive was on the same day as our arrival and it was a bit of a rush. 2) It would be nice to have like a radio station where rangers and visitors can inform the people in the park of where animals like the big 5 have been cited so that everybody can improve their chancers of seeing the big 5. 3) It would also be nice to have a built up area around the braais at the various bungalows to accomodate plates and glasses etc and with a light to make braaing more enjoyable at night. Otherwise a really enjoyable holiday!

The Kruger Park is always awesome and we had a lovely stay.My only criticism would be about the restaurant at Skukuza- we had the buffet braai on Friday night- there was hardly anything to eat- they had advertised chicken and borerwors-but had run out of chicken. For salads they had green salad and potato salad- but the potato salad ran out before we had dished up- overall very poor for the price.We had the buffet breakfast on Sunday- again hardly any food for the price (R100 per head)-cereal and yoghurt, toast, eggs , sausage and tomato- not much for R100!! I must however compliment the restaurant staff for their good service and friendliness, despite the lack of food

Kruger is always fantastic- however, the food served at Skukuza restaurants continues to be of a very poor standard, and we have experienced this over a number of years. When are they going to catch a wakeup and sort this problem out- This is our National Park where thousands of foreign visitors flock to and we can only serve absolute rubbish in the restaurants. Also, the plastic cutlery is ridiculous- you can't even pick up a piece of egg-absolute cheap rubbish. Skukuza restaurants should have a good look at how the restaurant at Pretoriuskop is run- same menu, but a completely different experience- Pretoriuskop is tops for their runing of their restaurant

Needs help. No decent kettles or cookware. Monkeys a huge problem must warn the visitors how to keep them out of fridges etc. Train Restaurant excellent. Other Restaurant average. The camp needs more attention and lighting on footpath v poor. Requested perimeter on booking with agent but did not get one.

The low veld is special and having been privileged enough to visit private game reserves in the past, Kruger still offers a great experience that is out of reach for most in the private reserves. Would like to see some birds on your list and the one viewing we have missed through the years is a python in the wild. From the photo you can see Kruger delivered perfectly this time. Just one thing, it is a pity the sightings are located at the top of the camp and not at he shop / restaurant complex where every one congregates.Every effort should be made to encourage all South Africans to enjoy the experience. It is a national asset.

Compared to the other lodges we stayed at, the kitchen facilities were very poor!!! Cutlery and crockery and pots and pans missing!! No playing facilities for small children, jungle gym, etc!!

Firstly no time on our bookings were given for arrival. Just spent a lot of money on meat in Nelspruit 2 hours earlier.Secondly we arranged an escort and were told to phone 10 km from gate did so 1.5 hours later some one arrived ,we had 2 babies with us .Thirdly your staff at the place was not friendly at all .I will never stay there again . I rate Satara and Berg en Dal great and will return to them next year ,will also try Sabie. Sorry about this but once bitten twice shy.

Please educate your staff. They work in the most fantastic place and that fact should reflect in their attitude. Nice, but a little more crowded, because it is closer to Jo-burg, but still, it was O.K. We did the safari. Not very special. On the other hand...it is not expensive, you are higher in the truck then in your own car and you can be in the park when other travelers are not allowed to be there. So, don't expect too much, but give it a try. We saw after one and a half hour our first buck, but also a group of five hyena's and some rinos, so it was good.

My verbly in die park was baie lekker soos gewoondtlik, ons is mal oor sie natuur. Maar was baie teleurgestel oor die daar geen diesel in die kamp was vir my voertuig nie en ek kon nie so baie ry soos gewoontlik nie. My voertuig so ook soos meeste van die nuwe diesel voertuie gebruil 50ppm diesel wat net buite die Park beskikbaar is. Ons het al die probleem aangespreek by die bestuurder by Satara kamp Februarie maand toe ons daar was,jy wil nie elke keer uit die Park uitgaan om te gaan diesel in gooi nie as jy ondedr in die Park is is dit nie so groot probleem nie maar as jy by satara en boontoe gaan is dit n probleem want die plek wat die naaste is om diesel te kry is Tzaneen. Ek sal sit waardeur as ek n antwoord kan kry op die probleem. Dankie.

Ons het al die probleem aangespreek by die bestuurder by Satara kamp Februarie maand toe ons daar was,jy wil nie elke keer uit die Park uitgaan om te gaan diesel in gooi nie as jy ondedr in die Park is is dit nie so groot probleem nie maar as jy by satara en boontoe gaan is dit n probleem want die plek wat die naaste is om diesel te kry is Tzaneen. Ek sal sit waardeur as ek n antwoord kan kry op die probleem. Dankie.

We had a lovely weekend, and very much enjoyed the experienced of spending the night inside Kruger Park.My only suggestion would be to improve restaurant offer and availability for dinner time!

Our one night stay in Skukuza after Mopane was disappointing. In spite of our fruit having been put in the fridge, the monkeys must have got in and made an awful mess. Gratefully our neighbours took pity on us and put a chair in front of the fridge. Why were there no signs warning us that there are monkeys around AND that they open the fridges. We did however have an excellent meal at the railway station thank you. The meal we had at Mopane was a disgrace- a burnt pizza with very little topping , Tbone with no fillet and extremely expensive. We always enjoy our stay in Kruger so hopefully these comments will be constructive.

I think that the conservation levy was overpriced. We live on another large reserve in SA and we only charge R100.00 per person per stay not P.P.P. Day.Campsite needs to be better demarcated. We went out for the morning only to come back to our site and find someone squatting on our site cuz they wanted the shade.More bathrooms needed. Often we had overland trucks rock up for the night and that meant an extra 10 - 15 pax that would use the bathroom that we were sharing with already +- 60 other pax camping in our Block.

Had a wonderful stay - just a request for more baths in the ladies ablution in the camp site - there is only one bath and every evening we had to queue for the bath - small children do not want to shower and this causes a problem when all the little children need to be bathed in the evening. Many thanks.

The 2-sleeper bungalow we hired at the Skukuza camp was very much " you get what you pay for". Even though the accommodation was clean and neat, the facilities are showing their age and we fear that without renovating/upgrading the units will soon look very run down. I also felt that the camp could be better marketed as we werent told / given anything at reception on arrival besides a map on how to get to our bungalow. We got to our bungalow and still now info about what the camp has to offer. Too late to go back to the info desk which was closed already. There seemed to be a lovely new building we drove passed but what is was and if the public was allowed was a mystery. We would have spent more time at the camp if we knew what it had to offer. Even info on the restuarants or trading hours for the shop were not made available. We went to the only open restuarant that night only to be told that it was a buffet at R170 per person a night................very expensive considering the quality and variety of food on offer. We were very disappointed. Certainly not a showcase for tourists from overseas. The POSITIVE of the trip were the animals however. We saw alot and the weather was good. We will be back to the park for animal viewing but I doubt we will be supporting Skukuza Rest Camp again. Thank you.

Overall we had a very relaxing stay. The Bungalow was comfortable and the air-conditioner was very much appreciated during the day. The enclosed veranda which was surrounded by mozzy netting was very welcome in the evening when malaria mozzies about. However, we found that the communal kitchen was very poorly equipped and more like a communal wash-up area with a hot plate. It would have been a great help if a microwave oven at least was supplied in the communal kitchen.

Was very surprised with the location on the river. It is nicely established yet totally natural. Accommodation is good, but maintenance leaves a bit to be desired i.e. lamp shade missing in bedroom, outside lights needed globes replacing. Reported to Reception, but nothing was had been done by the time we left. Camp is great and access to other camps is very central. Nicely cleaned during the day - outside kitchen is really cute. Overall a lovely expirence.
