The Details

Location

The camp sits on a raised bank above the Kafue River inside Kafue National Park, one of the largest protected wildernesses in Africa. The park covers vast and varied terrain, from floodplains and river channels to open plains and woodland, with a strong cast of plains game, predators and more than 500 bird species.

Guests fly in to the camp's private airstrip for a short road transfer to the tents. Lusaka International Airport is around three hours by road, and the nearest major town, Livingstone, is five to six hours away.

Accommodation

There are thirteen tented residences in total: six Kafue Pool Villas, three Bush Villas, three Horizon Terrace Suites, one Anantara Presidential Villa. Each villa has a king bed, living room, indoor bathtub, indoor and outdoor showers, a sundeck with lounger, a Marshall speaker, Press Reader access, personalised minibar and coffee machine, and unlimited high-speed WiFi. All villas except the three Horizon Terrace Suites also have a private plunge pool and a dedicated spa treatment room.

Dining

Dining is all-inclusive and draws on Zambian ingredients from both land and river. Breakfast is served under the trees overlooking the Kafue, with contemporary interpretations of traditional African recipes at lunch and dinner. The bar and lounge handle sundowners and snacks between drives.

Beyond the main guest area, the kitchen runs a wider programme of experiences: fire-pit boma dinners under the stars, designer dining in a bubble above the river or at a private table in the treetops, riverbank picnics, boat lunches on the Kafue, bush dinners cooked over open flames, sommelier-led wine pairings and bespoke in-villa dining on your deck.

Activities

Guests connect with the park by river and by rugged road, exploring the plains, channels and riverine forest for wildlife and birding. Back in camp there is a yoga deck and a gym, and each villa (bar the Horizon Terrace Suites) has its own wellness space for private spa treatments with the sounds of the river in the background.
