The Details

Location

Botlierskop Private Game Reserve covers several thousand acres of coastal fynbos and river valley between Mossel Bay and George, about a four-hour drive east of Cape Town. The reserve sits close enough to the N2 to slot into a Garden Route self-drive, yet feels remote once you are through the gate.

The Village Lodge is the family-focused option on the reserve, set apart from the tented Bush Villas and River Lodge. Chalets look out onto the bush and a central pool area anchors the property.

Accommodation

Chalets at the Village Lodge are built for families and small groups, with configurations that sleep two to four guests. Rooms are simply furnished with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and private verandas facing the reserve.

Dining

All meals are served at the main lodge restaurant. Breakfast follows the morning game drive, lunch runs through the middle of the day, and dinner is a set menu of South African dishes. An arrival drink and snack welcome you on the day of check-in.

Activities

Two game drives run daily, morning and afternoon, in open vehicles with a ranger. The reserve carries lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard alongside general plains game. Drinks and snacks are served on drive. Guided walks, horseback rides and spa treatments can be arranged at extra cost.

"Leigh-Ann was outstanding and very helpful in putting an itinerary together not just for a Safari but including internal flights and accommodation in Cape Town and all along the Garden Route. Would highly recommend using Safari.com for your South Africa trips especially if it is your first trip."
