The Details
Elephant Point Private Reserve takes its name from the herds of elephant that gather along the Sabie River to drink and graze. The reserve sits on land leased in partnership with the Belfast community and the Ministry of Land Affairs, and shares unfenced borders with Kruger National Park and the greater Sabi Sand ecosystem, so wildlife moves freely across the landscape.
The property is a Legacy Group flagship, more than two decades in the making, and was designed to dissolve the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living. There is no prescribed schedule, no wake-up call and no fixed itinerary; the rhythm is set by the bush and by the river. Construction created over 1,000 jobs and the reserve employs around 300 permanent staff, the majority drawn from the surrounding community.
Accommodation
Safari Villas
A bespoke collection of 28 individually designed private villas, each available on an exclusive-use basis with private pool and uninterrupted views over the surrounding bush and river.
River Suites
Opening in May 2026, a limited collection of 42 contemporary suites overlooking the Sabie River and the wildlife corridors that follow it. The suites are designed for couples, families and executives looking for privacy, space and independence within a refined setting.
Game Drives
The Paul Kruger Gate sits roughly eight minutes from the villa door, opening into one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries. Guests head out before dawn in open vehicles with an experienced ranger, with lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino all moving through this corridor of the park. Drives return as the day warms, leaving the afternoon for the private pool and the deck above the river.
Within the reserve itself, three walking trails (Nyarhi, Saringwa and Three Rivers) range from 1.5 to 2 kilometres. Giraffe, wildebeest, kudu and a broad cast of birdlife move freely through the grounds; with no dangerous game on the reserve, guests can set out at their own pace without a guide.
Spa
Wellness at Elephant Point is delivered through a mobile spa, with massages, body rituals and restorative therapies brought directly to the villa deck or poolside and timed entirely around the guest.
Dining
Food and beverage is treated as a central narrative rather than an accompaniment, with each meal positioned where culture, landscape and design converge. The kitchens lean African in their roots but contemporary and globally informed in their execution, with shared tables, fireside bomas and private deck dining all part of the offering.
