About the lodge
An overview of Elephant Valley Lodge.
Elephant Valley Lodge is a 20-tent camp on the outskirts of Kasane, overlooking the Lesoma Valley between Chobe National Park and Zimbabwe's parks. A floodlit waterhole draws elephants, giraffe and predators within sight of the deck, and daily game drives and Chobe River cruises run from camp.
Highlights
- Private waterhole in front of camp with a 24-hour live wildlife webcam
- Daily open-vehicle game drives in Chobe National Park
- Boat cruises on the Chobe River with prolific elephant and bird sightings
- Optional day trips to Victoria Falls on the Zambian or Zimbabwean side
- Family tent with a second bedroom, suited to children
- Quieter alternative to the busier riverfront lodges around Kasane
You Should Know
- Winter nights can be cold in the tents; warm clothing is recommended and electric blankets are provided
- The lodge sits roughly 30 minutes from the Chobe National Park entrance, so game drives involve a transfer
- Tented accommodation means natural sounds and the occasional insect are part of the experience
The Details
Elephant Valley Lodge sits in the Lesoma Valley on the outskirts of Kasane, a wildlife corridor that links Chobe National Park in Botswana with the national parks of Zimbabwe. Animals and birds move freely through the valley, and the camp's waterhole pulls in steady traffic of elephant, giraffe, kudu, impala and the predators that follow them.
Unlike the busier riverfront lodges closer to town, this is a tented bush camp with a quieter rhythm. Meals are served on a central deck overlooking the waterhole, with lantern-lit tables at dinner. The atmosphere is informal and family-run, with long-serving guides and hosts.
Accommodation
There are 20 tented rooms in total. Twelve forest tents sit among the trees around lawned gardens, including one family tent with a second bedroom of twin beds and a bathroom with both bath and shower. Eight valley tents face the waterhole and the Lesoma Valley beyond.
Each tent has an en-suite shower and toilet, tea and coffee facilities, a fan, hair dryer and charging points. Electric blankets are supplied for the cooler winter months.
Game Drives
Two activities are included each day, drawn from open-vehicle game drives into Chobe National Park and boat cruises on the Chobe River. The park is famous for the largest concentration of African elephant on the planet, alongside lion, leopard, buffalo, hippo and a high diversity of plains game and birdlife. Day trips to Victoria Falls on either the Zambian or Zimbabwean side can be arranged at additional cost.
Dining
Meals are buffet style and served on the central deck overlooking the waterhole, so game viewing continues through breakfast and dinner. Dinner is set with lantern-lit tables facing the bush.

"Booked an 11-day tour starting and finishing in Johannesburg and including Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta. The service from Cearl was very professional with numerous options discussed before settling on the final version. Prices seemed to be very reasonable."
