The Details
Location
Madikwe Game Reserve stretches across roughly 185,000 acres of bushveld on the Botswana border in South Africa's North West Province. It is malaria-free and home to the Big Five along with wild dog and cheetah. Most guests arrive via a five-hour road transfer from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, a 45-minute drive from Sir Seretse Khama Airport in Gaborone, or a scheduled flight into Madikwe's Eastern Airstrip, about 20 minutes from the lodge.
Accommodation
Suites are built around extra-long king beds and private heated plunge pools, with several suites positioned for direct views over the waterhole that sits in front of the lodge. High-speed wifi runs through both the suites and the main lodge area.
Dining
The kitchen blends African and international cuisine and caters for all dietary requirements, including gluten-free and Halal. Etali has run a dedicated Kosher kitchen for more than 20 years, with chefs shopping weekly to meet guest requirements; a Kosher surcharge of R750 per person per day applies.
Game Drives
Two game drives run each day in open vehicles with a guide and tracker, exploring Madikwe in search of the Big Five. Guests with children under 6, or those who want full flexibility over timing, can book a private vehicle with private guide and tracker for R8,000 per day. Mid-morning bumble drives are available for younger children.

The wellness centre includes a gym and steam room, both included in the rate. A complimentary 30-minute spa treatment is included for guests aged 14 and over, with further treatments bookable for an additional charge.

"Lynn Bowers and Clarisha Horne were incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the booking process. We were looking for a safari on a fairly short timeline, and they were able to quickly understand what we were looking for and help us find an option that was a great fit. They was very attentive, patient, and willing to assist with all the details to help make sure everything is set up for a wonderful trip. We really appreciated how easy she made the planning and booking process, especially given that we booked everything in less than a week! We’re looking forward to our safari and are very grateful to Lynn and Clarisha for all her help getting everything arranged. Highly recommend working with them if you’re planning a safari!"
