The Details

Location

Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge stands on the edge of the Ghoha Hills in the Savuti region of Chobe National Park, roughly 95 miles south-west of Kasane and 145 miles north-east of Maun. The setting is one of Botswana's most celebrated wildlife areas, known for large elephant herds, predator action on the Savuti Marsh and the seasonal movements of zebra and buffalo.

Access is by road transfer of about three hours from Kasane, by light aircraft into the nearby airstrip from either Kasane or Maun, or by helicopter direct from Kasane.

Accommodation

The camp has 11 tented rooms in total: nine twin or super-king luxury tents sleeping two, and two family tents with a main bedroom and an interleading second tent with two single beds, sleeping four. Each tent has a private viewing deck overlooking the waterhole and the Savuti Plains, en-suite bathrooms with double vanity, a separate shower and toilet, lime-washed wooden floors and quality linen.

Rooms are fitted with mosquito nets, ceiling and standing fans, charging points, a personal safe, gowns and slippers, a flashlight and an emergency air horn.

Activities

Guests join morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles on the lodge's private road network and waterhole loops. With a minimum two-night stay, a full-day excursion runs to the Savuti Marsh, taking in the Baobab Theatre, Bushman rock paintings and Pimple Hills, with a picnic lunch in the bush. Birdwatching, stargazing, sundowner drives and private dinners are also offered.

Dining

The thatched main area opens onto viewing decks above the waterhole and serves both indoor and outdoor meals, with a boma campfire area for dinners under the stars.

Spa and Wellness

A treatment room with sweeping views offers a range of massage therapies. A multi-station gym, stationary bike, dumbbell set and yoga mats are available, and a rock pool with its own deck looks out over the waterhole and plains.
