The Details

Grande Provence sits in what many argue is the Cape's prettiest wine region, tucked beneath the Franschhoek mountains. The approach is memorable: rows of vineyards line the entry road, bordered by clipped hedges, with young olive trees and old oaks setting the tone for the working estate that lies beyond.

The property combines a functioning winery with boutique lodging, two restaurants, an art gallery and a sculpture garden. It works equally well as a base for exploring the Winelands or as a quiet escape from Cape Town, roughly 45 miles away.

Accommodation

The Owner's Cottage is a preserved Cape Dutch villa surrounded by vineyards, offered on an exclusive-use basis. La Provençale has two en-suite bedrooms available on a bed and breakfast basis, each air-conditioned with a king-size bed and shower en-suite; the Loft Suite above sleeps two. The Vineyard Suite is a spacious cottage available as either a one or two-bedroom configuration, with shower-only bathrooms.

Dining

The Oak Restaurant is the estate's five-star fine-dining room, paired with Grande Provence's own vintages. The Estate Bistro serves a more relaxed all-day menu, and Grande Country Picnics are set out on the lawns in season. Wine tastings and pairings run daily at the cellar door.

Activities

Guests can walk the working vineyards, book tastings and pairings, browse The Gallery and Sculpture Garden, or use the estate as a base for the wider Franschhoek wine route. The village itself is a short drive away with further restaurants, boutiques and cellars.

"We had a wonderful experience booking with Safari.com. The whole team (advisor, insurance, concierge, payment) is so professional and the process so smooth. We had the best travel advisor Sara Van Coillie. She was extremely knowledgeable and patient getting to know our needs and preferences and make the best booking uniquely suited for us. She even called local visa services companies for us due to a visa issue. We’re very grateful for the wonderful support."
