The Details
The Estate
Holden Manz sits at the top end of the Franschhoek Valley, surrounded by its own vineyards, orchards and rolling lawns, with the Cape Winelands mountains forming the backdrop. The property runs as a working wine farm, and the country house is the five-suite guest residence set within it.
A contemporary South African art collection runs through the public spaces and suites, giving the house the feel of a private gallery as much as a hotel. Guests can wander the vineyards and fruit orchards, picnic by the river, or simply sit by the pool or the koi pond.
Rooms
Five suites look out over the lawns, vineyards and upper Franschhoek Valley. Each is generously sized and fitted to a five-star standard, with Holden Manz wine stocked in-suite on arrival.
Dining
Breakfast is cooked to order and includes fruit from the estate orchard and eggs from the vineyard chickens. Depending on weather and season, it is served in a range of indoor and outdoor settings around the house. The estate also runs its own restaurant and picnic offering, and a Platinum Wine Tasting is included in the stay.
Activities
The staff know the Franschhoek valley well and can arrange outings across the Cape Winelands, including the Franschhoek Wine Tram, which has a stop at Holden Manz. On the estate itself, guests can ride horses through the vineyards, picnic at the river, or spend the day between the pool, the koi pond and the orchards.
Spa
The spa offers a range of treatments from hot-stone to deep tissue, delivered by a resident team of therapists. An adjoining yoga studio makes it easy to pair treatments with a quiet session before or after a day of tasting.
