The Details
Hotel Verde sits in Airport Industria, 400 metres from Cape Town International Airport, with a complimentary shuttle running between the terminal and the hotel. The setting, beside a restored wetland under the hotel's stewardship, gives the property an unexpectedly natural backdrop for a city-edge airport hotel.
The hotel has built its reputation on sustainability. It was the first hotel in Africa to achieve 100% carbon-neutral status and continues to offset all guest carbon emissions. Eco-tours of the building and grounds show guests how the systems work, from the eco-pool to the indoor and outdoor gym, where exercise equipment feeds energy back into the building.
Rooms
There are 151 rooms across three categories. The Standard Room runs to around 290 square feet with a choice of king or twin beds, work desk, open-plan bathroom, tea and coffee station, mini-fridge and DSTV. The Studio Room is slightly larger at around 320 square feet, family-friendly, with a separate bathroom and an optional sofa bed. The Executive Room, at around 440 square feet, suits longer stays and families, with a king-size bed, separate living room, full bathroom with bath and shower, kitchenette, and a sofa bed for two children.
Dining
Nuovo Restaurant and Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an a la carte menu and seasonal picnics available. The kitchen leans on the hotel's sustainability ethos, with locally sourced ingredients and a relaxed bar offering for guests arriving late from long-haul flights.
Activities
On-site activities include the Verde Vita Spa and Wellness Centre with treatments, a breathing room and an infrared cabin, an eco-pool, an indoor and outdoor gym, and guided eco-tours of the hotel's green systems and surrounding wetland. Conferencing and events venues are also available on the property.

Children aged 12 and under stay complimentary, including breakfast, when sharing a room with at least one adult. Children over 12 are charged at the adult rate for accommodation and meals. "Jolene was simply extraordinary. She put together what became an absolutely incredible African trip for us in the space of barely three weeks, and from the outset her responsiveness, knowledge and genuine enthusiasm were exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble, responses were almost immediate, and she very quickly understood exactly what we were looking for, our expectations and the way we like to travel. More than simply being an expert at what she does, Jolene genuinely cared about making the trip special for us, and that came through in every aspect of her planning. What particularly impressed us was the flexibility with which she brought everything together. We already had some of our own arrangements in place, including international flights and staying with friends in Cape Town, but Jolene seamlessly incorporated those into the overall itinerary and still organised all the surrounding logistics and transfers. The safari component she designed was outstanding, taking us through Kruger, Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta, before finishing in Cape Town and the Stellenbosch wine region. Every part flowed beautifully and the lodges, experiences and logistics were exceptional. Just as importantly, Jolene stayed in contact throughout the trip at all the key moments, which made travelling so much easier. She would check us in for our internal flights and send through the boarding passes, confirm transfers the day before each pick-up, and make sure everything was in place before we ever had to think about it. That attention to detail, and the fact that she was always one step ahead, removed so much of the usual travel stress and allowed us simply to enjoy the trip. It was genuinely the trip of a lifetime, put together in an extraordinarily short timeframe, and Jolene deserves enormous credit for making it all happen. We could not recommend her highly enough."
