The Details

Location

Impodimo is built into a rocky ridge inside the Madikwe Game Reserve in the North West Province of South Africa. The reserve covers 75,000 hectares of mixed bushveld, rocky outcrops and open plains against the Botswana border, with the Big Five, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena and the painted wolf (African wild dog) all resident. There is no malaria, which is a practical advantage for families and older guests.

Accommodation

Eight glass-fronted luxury chalets and one Deluxe Suite line a natural spring, each with twin beds (king on request), full en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower, closed-system fireplace and a private deck looking into the bush. A separate Premium Luxury Suite adds a private deck hot tub. The Family Safari Villa holds two suites on exclusive-use terms and comes with its own safari vehicle, guide and tracker, and the Deluxe Safari Villa adds a private chef cooking all meals in-villa.

Dining

Meals move around the lodge depending on weather and mood, from the main deck overlooking the waterhole to the boma under the stars. Expect three plated meals a day, teas and snacks between drives, and selected beverages included in the rate. Private in-villa dining is standard for Family and Deluxe Safari Villa guests.

Activities

Two safari activities run daily on open vehicles with a ranger and tracker, with Big Five sightings and strong wild-dog viewing the usual draw. Guided bush walks, time in the underground photographic hide at a nearby waterhole, a dedicated children's safari programme and in-room massage treatments round out the offer.
