The Details
The Camp
Jackalberry Chobe sits on the banks of the Chobe River close to Kasane, a short drive from one of the most wildlife-dense corners of Botswana. The camp is small and personal, designed around the river frontage and the surrounding bushveld so that guests are never far from the water or the sounds of the bush.
The setting is intimate rather than grand. Public areas open onto the river, with a swimming pool and dining spaces positioned to make the most of long Chobe sunsets. Service is hands-on and informal, with managers and guides who get to know guests by name over a two or three night stay.
Rooms
Accommodation is in 16 spacious luxury tents arranged through the natural bush landscape. Tents are offered in three categories: river view, partial view and bush view, each generously sized and finished with comfort in mind.
Every tent has a private balcony, a bedroom with a king-size bed, and an interleading en-suite bathroom with both an indoor shower and a free-standing bath. River-view tents are the most sought after for their direct outlook over the Chobe.
Dining
Meals are served in the main lodge and out on the deck, with dinners under the stars beside the river a regular feature. The kitchen turns out generous, well-presented plates and the team will arrange private dining on a tent balcony for honeymooners, anniversaries or proposals on request.
Activities
Activities are led by the camp's own guides using customised safari vehicles and boats. Morning and afternoon game drives run into Chobe National Park, famous for its enormous elephant population, buffalo herds, lion, leopard and a long list of plains game and birds.
Sunset cruises on the Chobe River are a daily highlight, with hippo, crocodile and elephant coming down to drink along the banks. Private activities and bespoke arrangements can be set up for couples and small groups.

A closer look.
"Jolene was simply extraordinary. She put together what became an absolutely incredible African trip for us in the space of barely three weeks, and from the outset her responsiveness, knowledge and genuine enthusiasm were exceptional. Nothing was ever too much trouble, responses were almost immediate, and she very quickly understood exactly what we were looking for, our expectations and the way we like to travel. More than simply being an expert at what she does, Jolene genuinely cared about making the trip special for us, and that came through in every aspect of her planning. What particularly impressed us was the flexibility with which she brought everything together. We already had some of our own arrangements in place, including international flights and staying with friends in Cape Town, but Jolene seamlessly incorporated those into the overall itinerary and still organised all the surrounding logistics and transfers. The safari component she designed was outstanding, taking us through Kruger, Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Okavango Delta, before finishing in Cape Town and the Stellenbosch wine region. Every part flowed beautifully and the lodges, experiences and logistics were exceptional. Just as importantly, Jolene stayed in contact throughout the trip at all the key moments, which made travelling so much easier. She would check us in for our internal flights and send through the boarding passes, confirm transfers the day before each pick-up, and make sure everything was in place before we ever had to think about it. That attention to detail, and the fact that she was always one step ahead, removed so much of the usual travel stress and allowed us simply to enjoy the trip. It was genuinely the trip of a lifetime, put together in an extraordinarily short timeframe, and Jolene deserves enormous credit for making it all happen. We could not recommend her highly enough."
